I usually have them done at either Jefferson Hospital or Penn in the city, which both tend to be a bit straight to the point and lack any type of personal interaction, but not at this location! Marissa(I know that's not right, but it's close) who does insurance/front desk was literally the nicest and most genuine person I've met in awhile, great conversation and she answered all my questions - I tend to become a chatter box when I'm nervous haha. I literally only needed to wait 2 minutes and I was already being seen by Lori, who was super professional, compassionate, explained every step of the way and answered all my "dumb" questions. Marissa(to be fair she butchered my name too haha) and Lori made this unwanted/stressful visit quick,easy and painless. You guys a rock stars and deserve so much praise(maybe a raise too!)for being great people and awesome employees. I will unfortunately be back to this location for my future MRI's and will certainly tell everyone I know how great this location is!

But we have a high deductible plan with Independence Blue Cross and learned that this Penn Medicine facility bills as and gets a negotiated rate for an MRI of the lumbar spine that is double that of Jefferson Radiology Malvern. Maybe because they bill as Hospital of University of Pennsylvania? In the last 12 months, I received an MRI of the lumbar spine from each facility so I saw what the negotiated rate was. If I need another elective MRI, I'll go to Jefferson and save myself hundreds of dollars in out of pocket costs. Over a million people in the Montgomery County and Philadelphia County have IBX as their insurance company. If you want to reduce the costs of health care overall with no decrease in the quality of care you receive, go to Jefferson's outpatient imaging, not Penn's. If you pay out of pocket for a % or all of your imaging, go to Jefferson. Heck, you could use the savings to treat yourself to dinner at a nice restaurant and still come out ahead! Want to see how different they are? Check out their price transparency tools. Even though the HUP "Negotiated Price List" (https://www.pennmedicine.org/for-patients-and-visitors/patient-information/insurance-and-billing/financial-transparency) file is super clunky, it shows that they will charge $18,508 for a MRI with and without contrast (CPT 72158). Jefferson Healthcare will charge one third of that, $4797, per their PARA price transparency tool (https://apps.para-hcfs.com/PTT/FinalLinks/Jefferson_V3.aspx). The negotiated rate, which I have to pay out of pocket to fulfill my deductible, was about 10% of the charge. But 10% of Penn's $18508 charge is a thousand dollars more than 10% of Jefferson's $4797 charge. I was blown away.

She got my iv in with no problem and made me feel that I would be ok. That is half the battle in the ER. She and her colleagues continued to treat me great right up til I left. I spoke clearly and she didn't seem to be able to understand anything. My husband sat at a distance and could hear everything clearly. When I said my date of birth, the receptionist thought I was saying 1951...there's no way I look even close to that. The second step check-in (the three booths next to the receptionist) was terrible too. The guy who has booth 3 today had a hard time for no obvious reason and I had to show my driver's license twice before he got things right. However, the radiologist is nice and professional. I love her. She's the only saving grace.

The receptionist was not particularly busy so she didn't make me enter the name in the iPad kiosk. Shortly thereafter, we were taken into the back for an x-ray. The tech there was pretty snotty and was not considerate of patient comfort. Then we waited for an hour past the appointment time to see the doctor. We did not feel rushed and after we waited a very short period of time to see an someone for an orthotic. It took at least 1/2 a day there. The facility is brand new and fresh and is in a building just off of the King of Prussia Mall so I would bet that the traffic here is crazy around Christmas. It shares the lot with the other businesses in the building along with the Capital Grill restaurant so parking may be challenging at times.

When I was younger, there…read moreweren't many endocrinologists in this area, and I didn't connect with them well, (aka without serious issues with their practice), so he took on the burden of being my type 1 diabetes endo and my primary care doctor. If you name it, he's probably examined me for it or treated it. Now that technology has evolved (aka Symlin), he's referred me to another endo in this area, but prior to that, he was always up on the latest type 1 diabetes treatments, asking me if I wanted a pump again (I still don't... those things gave me the worst skin infections ever) and making sure I had access to the supplies I needed. He's a very kind, sympathetic doctor. There should be more like him.
