They, in addition, referred me to a business where I could get the rim repaired. They performed an alignment, and a safety check. I highly recommend Mavis on Woodbourne for your automotive needs.

They rescheduled his inspection when…read moremy emissions would have been exempt, and the new date put me over the 5000 miles to exempt it. When I went back they failed it because the check engine light was on and told me we should just look for a new truck because this one was too old (2006) and they didn't have time to chase down that problem. I took it home and corrected those issues in less than an hour and took it back in. Now they failed it again (after the emissions passed) and charged me $1800 for front pads, front rotors, and 1 front hub bearing. They claim the hub bearing was $800+. When I offered to bring my own bearing in they threatened to increase my labor cost because he supposably was giving me a discount. Keep in mind there is ZERO labor in replacing the hub bearing since you need to remove it to replace the rotor, which they were doing. After I got it home, I changed the oil to find they never attached the ABS wires on the new hub or on the existing hub. In fact they broke the screw off and just left the bracket hanging. These guys knew my son needed the car and 100% F*&%KED me over. I will never go back there and will be sending this same review to their corporate offices. See attached picture and video of how they left it.

I've moved back to the area recently and was looking for a new mechanic to service my car. The…read moreowner/person at the front, Andy, was incredibly rude and treats customers like they are stupid. I brought my car in for an inspection knowing that there was some issues with it, but I wanted to figure out what it exactly it was. Immediately upon arrival he made a negative comment about the brand of my car and its reliability. He then called me later in the day and informed me about the issues with my car (most of which I was already aware of) but claimed he was unsure about the condition of one of my parts until he was able to see it himself-this is very understandable and I appreciated his transparency, but I politely declined and told him that I would be going to a more specialized place and he instantly gave me an attitude and did not inform me when it would be a good time to pick up my car-he just hung up the phone. When I did arrive, the negative attitude continued and he charged me $200 for a one-hour long inspection and a piece of paper. I gave the place 2 stars because one of his drivers that drove me home was incredibly friendly and Andy did provide me with a list of what was wrong with my car, which I appreciated. I had high hopes for this place based off previous reviews, but it appears that they treat longer term customers more friendly than newer ones, while also charging you a pretty penny.

While I do much of my own basic maintenance and troubleshooting, I'm terrified of transmissions…read more After bringing my 2005 domestic pickup truck to the "five-letter" nationwide transmission franchise for an estimate, they kept it for two days, and stated it would be over $2000 and require a complete overhaul. I inspected some parts of the transmission to determine they did nothing to open it up or diagnose the problem, other than scanning trouble codes. In search of a second opinion, I called Cottman and the service manager Scott happily spent 20 minutes on the phone with me asking questions to give me a more accurate picture of what the problem might be, and what the costs could be. A few weeks later I visited the shop on my way home from work (20 minutes before they closed) and Scott took the time to take a 30-minute test drive, plug in the diagnostic, and troubleshoot the matter. He said that there was a much smaller issue related to the transmission fluid temperature and said he could get the work done in under a day. I arranged for an appointment a few days later. Scott and Beth were happy to arrange drop-off/pick-up service to my office a few miles away. I couldn't be happier with their honesty, efficiency, and experience. In this day and age, even though I'm mechanically inclined, it's tough to find a skilled mechanic you can trust. I will confidently refer my friends, family, and professional contacts to Cottman knowing they will be in good hands with Beth and Scott at the helm.
