Dr Pagan does root canals and crowns - endodontist. He is very gentle and thorough. As well as conservative. He does dental work that needs to be done - for the patient's benefit not his pocket book. I went to Dr Pagan after another dentist left me in a great deal of pain. Dr. Pagan figured out what the problem was and fixed it with minimal cost. I can't recommend him highly enough. read more

My wife and I have both seen Dr. Pagan in the past under referral from our primary dentist and thought he was pretty darn good. He had an easy, friendly, professional demeanor, and provided a thorough diagnosis. However, during my wife's most recent visit, on August 8, 2025, with another referral from our primary dentist, she checked in at the front desk and provided our dental insurance information with no indication of any issues. When she checked out, after services were rendered, she was told she owed $148. She asked if that was after the insurance and was told then that they don't accept MetLife?! Not sure why they didn't think to tell her that at check-in, other than they lacked integrity or competence, either way, I thought it was a very poor business practice on their part, and don't intend to ever return! I even told my primary dentist that if we ever need to be referred to a specialist moving forward, to just let me know what kind of specialist we need to see and I would find an "in-network" provider myself since they couldn't do it! I don't have the time nor patience for the shenanigans! So learn from our mistake and double check to see if your insurance is accepted before services are rendered because not all practices do right by their patients, unfortunately. read more

Just had him do a root canal for me today. Painless! No kidding. He has a very gentle touch and uses Septicaine, which works well for me. I'm guessing that he has done hundreds and hundreds of operations of this type. Should I need another root canal I shall definitely see him. read more

Dr. Pagan is absolutely fantastic! His staff is very kind and made my comfort a priority. The procedure itself was over and done with in a very short time. Much faster than I expected and with virtually no pain (just a little bit of pinching during the first and second shots of anesthetic). Dr. Pagan and staff are fantastic. He was not the Endontist that my family practice recommended, however, I asked around and one of my co-workers said he was the best. She was correct. I can not say enough sbout this Endodonist in Fredericksburg. I have been a patient for over 12 years and have had to get several root canals and even one surgery on a root canal done many years ago. The front office has always gotten me in fast as I am ususally in pain. I am diagnosed quickly by great equipment. I have never felt the shots at all or the procedure and have always recovered very quickly. The last one which prompted the review was a crowned tooth with no pain, just sensitive..but I had swollen nodes for 2 months and I was ill not knowing why. I was seen in one day, put on antibotics and scheduled 2 days later. In and out in 30 min. 3 hours later I feel well for the first time in 2 months!! read more

One star because you have to leave something. I went to my regular dentist and he saw something in my xray. He referred me too Dr Pagan. I went to him and he charged me$230 to tell me I needed a root canal, said we'd do that and wait and see. I went back and he numbed me up and drilled through my tooth and into my jaw. Then, without saying anything packed my tooth with something temporary and pulled all the gauze etc.out of my mouth. At that point he handed me a referral to an oral surgeon and said "well I could do a root canal but you would probably be back in a couple of months with an infection". Then he laughed and said "and that sucker is alive" meaning the root was alive after all. Then they charged me $219 and sent me on my way. I felt violated!!! Like he raped my tooth! Then to add insult to injury, I get a bill for another $219. This guy is horrible! He may know dentistry (?) But he's a real jerk! I would never go back there and I would dissuade anyone from going there! His staff seemed nice. read more

BUYER BEWARE! My in-network dentist referred me to Dr. Pagan for a root canal. When I called his office to schedule an appointment I was informed of the price and that they were out of my network, and therefore required full prepayment. They added "we will bill your insurance company as a courtesy". In hindsight, that was a disingenuous statement which turned out to be subterfuge for "no need to call your insurance company". Had I done so, I would have discovered that Dr. Pagan's charges were MORE THAN TWICE the going rate for the procedure. My naivete (call stupidity) cost me almost $1000 in ADDITIONAL out of pocket expenses....all of it a windfall for the Dr. Pagan team. There were several in-network root canal specialists within 25 miles of Dr. Pagan's office. read more

I have seen Dr. Pagan over the years for 3 issues. Every time I have been very impressed with his professionalism, friendliness and the efficiency of his staff. The technology in his office with tools, x-ray and a CAT scan machine are cutting-edge. Dr.Pagan is an extremely skilled surgeon. I'm usually pretty good about doing my due diligence when it comes to using anyone for any work being performed on my family. Unfortunately, Dr. Pagan was recommended by my dentist as a second opinion to perform a root canal on my 17 year old daughter. The staff was was very friendly and I felt completely at ease with them. When I first met Dr. Pagan, I also thought he was nice...that is until the procedure started. My daughter let him know right away that she could still feel the pain on her tooth when touched. He didn't seem to believe her or even care about her concerns. He then numbed her a little bit more and put some contraption on the hurt tooth. My daughter let him know once again she could still feel the pain. He then started drilling her tooth and you could visually see she was clearly in pain. She was crying and attempting to make him stop. She cried throughout the entire procedure and whimpered and was shaking like a small child, unable to control herself. As a parent this is something you never want to experience, the idea of feeling hopeless, unable to make your child feel better. Since the worst was done as he had clearly already removed most of the root, I had to let him finish the procedure. Once the procedure was complete, I calmly asked the Dr. if it was common for people to feel a root canal. Instead of having a respectful conversation with me, he blew me off and told me he knew she didn't feel it. I then repeated my first common and told him I'm pretty sure she did, since this is my daughter and it's not like her to whimper, shake, and cry the way she did. He then once again just told me that he knew she didn't feel anything and stomped away upset, just like Eric D. said he did with him. I'm sure Dr. Pagan is a great dentist, however, he has terrible bed side manners and he needs to pay more attention to the patients he is serving. Last I checked, we are the ones paying him for a service, which he is doing a TERRIBLE job performing. I wouldn't recommend anyone who wants to NOT feel the procedure come here. I personally only went here since the other recommendation I had was further from my house, in hindsight, I should've driven the distance.
