This place was like an oasis on the long stretch of scarce food options that is highway 12. After working up an appetite by walking through the petrified wood park a few blocks away (stop there, you won't regret it), I was excited to see a place with great reviews. Don't let the outside fool you- inside this little gem lies fun, great service, and delicious food. Despite the boozy sounding name, there Is a full dining area and it is open to all ages. The menu was about the same as any bar and grill menu- burgers, fried appetizers, steaks, and salads. The kids menu allows anyone to order off of it, which was great for a solo traveler who likes appetizers. In addition to food, this place has a full bar, game room, mini casino, jukebox, and fun festive atmosphere. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the meal was reasonably priced. 10/10 would R-Bar again. read more

I was unsure if this bar would still be open, as their last yelp review was 4 years ago. It was still open! I got the fajitas and my spouse got the prime rib sandwich. My fajitas were pretty good. They tasted like anything I would get at a Mexican restaurant. The prime rib was just ok. Decent, but not amazing. The side of tater tots was huge! It was a little unwelcoming to walk in the bar, stand around for 5 minutes, and then have to go hunt down the 1 person working the bar and restaurant to get a table but she was nice once we found her. read more

You really can't judge a book by its cover. We rolled into town famished and started searching Yelp for a place to eat. At five stars, Rbar looked promising. When we walked in, we were struck by the small-town atmosphere. The waitress was friendly, helpful, and made a mean "old fashioned ". The prices seemed a bit high for a modest joint and we were apprehensive about the quality, so we ordered what we considered "safe bets". I got grilled walleye and my husband got a mushroom Swiss burger. Boy were we wrong to be worried! The servings were huge and the food fantastic. The coleslaw seemed homemade and was nearly a cup in size. The tater tots and steak fries came in massive portions. The walleye was perfect and my husband's burger was one of the best he's had. His only regret was that he didn't try the prime rib, which he now believes would have been delicious. It's a shame we were just passing through. read more

This bar/ restaurant far exceeded my expectations! It is very clean and the service was excellent! Honestly, I am so picky and I expected so-so service and mediocre food. The bartender was attentive, even though he was covering the entire bar and all the tables! I was trying to choose between the special and the prime rib salad. He gave both entrees a good review and left it up to me. I chose the special, Swedish Meatballs, and it was delicious! This bar/restaurant is within walking distance of the only hotel in town. Casual bar and dining room with great lunch specials and cold beer. This is our "go to" place in Lemmon, SD. Welcoming and food is also kid friendly. Try the burger or 1/2 Sandwiches with a side. Excellent place to eat, ribeye was cooked perfect,seasoned just rite,Salad was fresh like just picked out of the garden. Waitress was REALY nice. One of the best steaks I've had in awhile. I'd like to write an update that is long overdue. The owner reached out to me and apologized and offered to make things right. I didn't want gifts or free meals etc. I explained to her we were not offered any compensation that evening, to which her waitress had lied to her and told her she did and we refused. What my husband HAD said to our waitress was our complaint about things was not an effort to get free stuff. Our waitress never offered to make anything that night 'right'. I give them back a few stars for the owner's sincerest apology. She admitted why things were the way they were that evening. So I do think it probably WAS an isolated incident. When I go back through ND again, and I am in the area needing a meal, I will go back again and see how things are. Having eaten there for a few decades, through different ownerships, I do hope they continue to provide the food they used to. The place has never been super upscale, even when Larry R was cooking there, but it was a place to get a decent steak. All in all, the owner's actions by reaching out to me make up for the experience I had enough to give it another go. read more
