Love this place. All the ducks and turtles. I really hope the construction they are doing on it gets finished soon

Nice walk around a small pond. Very peaceful. Not too crowded and has restroom and playground.

The DeVaul Henderson Lake Loop (DHLL) seemed to be the best bet due to length of the trail. When you are on Hwy 144 and you get to the roundabout, turn in on Veterans Memorial Parkway, where the Bryan County Administrative Complex is. The trail is located right next to it. You can't miss it. Parking - You can pretty much park anywhere on the grass along Veterans Memorial Parkway. I like to park toward the other end, by the elementary school, where you see the 4 wooden posts. Trail Description - From the 4 wooden posts, down to the paved path, the ground is dirt and a mix of sand and pine needles, and not paved, but that distance is minimal. It is surround by tall trees. Once you get down to the paved part, the signs indicate that it's a 0.5 mile loop. This loop has 3 different connection points to other parts of DeVaul Henderson Recreation Park (to soccer fields and restrooms) and I believe to the side of the Bryan County Administrative Complex. The connection points are located on the opposite side of Veterans Memorial Parkway. There are park benches all around the lake, as well as flotation devices in case someone gets in and needs some saving. There was a unique bench (kind of like one of those stone benches you see in gardens) and it had a sign "The Murphy Bench" that was placed there in memory of an infant boy. How tragic, but so touching. Difficulty Level - Easy for all ages. It is stroller and wheelchair friendly too, but might experience some bumpiness when going down that first small stretch to the paved path. Beware - There are signs that say "Beware of Wildlife". I am assuming they mean alligators, because that is what they always seem to warn you about around these parts, but we did not personally see any. But do we ever really see them when they are around? Unless they decide to come out of the water. However, we did see a lot of ducks swimming in the lake, as well as a beautiful white one just sitting on the side in the grass. This is a great place to run, walk, speed walk, scoot (my Little One took her scooter) and I saw some people fishing too. It's a great pit stop if you happen to be in the area. You can fill up on gas at the Shell Station and stretch those legs before you go on the next leg of your trip. Get outside, People!

I want to be able to give this a better rating but just can't quite get to the four star rating…read more Haig Point is a neat experience and potentially worth doing once if you don't have other options for similar experiences near you. We had a group of 12 and did the member for a day experience. Basically you meet up on the mainland and take the ferry over to Daufuskie Island, where you are then shuttled to the club house for your golf. After the round you're taken back to the ferry for a relaxing trip back. It's fun and certainly something different. All of the staff we interacted with were absolutely top notch. Very nice club house with a bar, and range balls were included. On the golf portion, I loved the layout of the course. Off the tee it was by far the most interesting course we played in Hilton Head up to and including Harbour Town. However, for the price we paid, we were all pretty underwhelmed by the course condition. Tees and fairways were in good shape but approaches around greens VERY rough. A number of greens with dead spots. And super inconsistent bunkers with linings showing in a handful of them where there was a seeming lack of sand. Just things that when you're paying those kinds of prices, shouldn't be happening. Overall, a cool trip and experience, although it does make for a long day. I'm glad we did it once, but I wouldn't do it again at the current price. As a similar alternative depending where you're coming from, check out Bald Head Island.

As a new member of Haig Point I write this review with great consternation…read more Yes it is true that Haig Point is just beautiful. The grounds well kept and the atmosphere unlike anything I have seen. The island is tranquil and peaceful. Golf courses are 5 star and to say the least , well maintained. So what could go wrong ? Let us begin with the help and management . I have had so many bad experiences since the day I moved in that I have considered high tailing out . Speeding around the island on carts, the employees rush to bring groceries and all your precious items from the embarkment center, on to the ferry and then to your door. Whizzing by at speeds per hour only a speedway knows , if you live here, you know what I mean. Wait was that my luggage in the middle of the road? Yes indeed that is mine! Oh and not just once or twice , its pretty common around here , or at least in my experience . I sometimes carry heavy loads from the ferry for fear that I may never see my precious cargo again. Now if you have time constraints and are a part time resident , be warned!!! Waiting for a delivery might take a few hours and if its a big item ,trust me, plain to stay the night. Call the kids," don't wait up for us , we have been waiting since early morning because we are told that BIG items are last to be delivered "! I write this at 10 o'clock in the evening. With baited breath I fear another day of waiting and I bet dollars to donuts no apology will be offered. Now all this for a hefty monthly service fee and I'm not talking chump change. So if its beauty you want , come on over. If you want service on an island that you literally depend on for just about everything, please for the love of Pete, reconsider !!
