It's like you have known them forever. Once I mentioned I hadn't ate yet, and a resident came over with a tray of enchiladas. Someone gave me a handmade Hideaway figurine. My own family isn't this nice to me! You come here not knowing anyone, next thing you know, you're on the back of a golf cart in an RV crawl. Just wonderful guys- all of them. The friendliness is everywhere. I have not met one pretentious person in all the times I've gone. Everybody interacts with everybody. Not only that but the drive there is gorgeous. I particularly recommend RT 121. Green fields, pine trees, hardly any other cars. Just keep your eye on your speed ; ) There's something in every budget for accommodations. Access is tightly controlled so recommend having everything you need on coming in. It's to keep the riff-raff out, (but yet here I am?). You can still come in and out, but most people stay on property. I've left my stuff out many times and never give it a thought. Nobody is here that shouldn't be (they keep letting me come back?). It's easier getting everything settled online before arrival, including signing the online waiver, and booking your cabin, or camping space. There is a nominal $15/yr fee as well. The cabin's have a one time cleaning fee per stay. Even with the fees and the paperwork, the price is still reasonable. Knowing this up front made more sense. They do a lot of pot-lucks- bring something nice, they love that stuff. A lot of these guys can cook. ("Who made this and is he single?") They also have a take-out cafe by the pool. They usually have specials and everything I have ordered has been top notch. Keep an eye on the cafe hours, the cook wears a lot of hats on the grounds, so plan accordingly. They open and close a few times a day. They do not sell alcohol. It's BYOB, everyone often just contributes to someone's cooler. It's the perfect mix of quiet and serene and get out on the dancefloor when the sun goes down. As a staple of the larger campgrounds, I found that the Hideaway more than makes up for being toned down by the attributes I've mentioned. It doesn't hit you immediately your first time; just about the time you start thinking that it's scaled down, you realize that's the point, and that its just as much of a blast as the loud crazy campgrounds, if not better. It's not the size of the crowd or the volume of the music that makes a great weekend, it's who is invited to the party. And in all the times I have been here, even when the weather didn't want to cooperate, The Hideaway hits the mark every single time. An absolutely wonderful bunch of people. Honestly, you might want to avoid it at all times due to the relentless noise. Between the train tracks running right through the property at all hours, heavy traffic buzzing from nearby roads, and military planes and helicopters rattling the sky all day from your neighboring military airbase, peace and quiet simply do not exist here. Another reviewer suggested using earplugs, but trust me: nothing is going to save your sanity when a full-blown freight train blares its horn at 3 a.m. every morning! We booked way in advance online for a week-long plus stay, only to be placed in a spot with absolutely zero shade. When we asked to move, the head staff, Leslie's favorite catchphrase was "just call us next time." Good to know & thanks so much for this lovely help, Leslie! To cool down, you can always hike an eighth of a mile to their very nice pool. Just be prepared for the "gravel gauntlet" (similar to your site, by the way)--navigating loose rocks in flip-flops while carrying pool gear in the heat isn't much fun. Ultimately, we've stayed in cheaper, friendlier, and much more accommodating places. Unless you really love the blazing sun, constant noise and unhelpful office manager, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

It's 8.5 miles from I-16…read more The office to check in is in the motel next door and it could be quite a walk if done in the dark or in bad weather. Internal roads are paved and sites are grass. Transient sites are all long pull-thrus, very level, and separated by low hedges. Hookups are in the middle. Water pressure was a little weak. Wifi required a code given during check-in and was ok enough to check email but still slow. No off-leash dog park but there's plenty of areas to walk the dogs in the perimeter of the park. Grass, trees, bushes all looked neatly trimmed. The park has some long term residents parked mostly in the back rows but they keep their sites neat with very little "stuff" outside or spread out so it didn't feel like you're in a trailer park. The front row of the park is for RV storage and those looked very neat as well. The road noise from US301 diminished after 9:30pm so we had a good night's sleep. We were just there for an overnight but would gladly stop there again.

We were pleasantly surprised by a gem of an RV park. The staff was friendly and led us to our site even though it was heavily raining. The cookies provided at check in were an even better surprise. This is a place we will return to in the future for a get away. They have the cleanest bathrooms and showers that I have ever seen. I was really impressed at how the grounds were well taken care of.

It is within a campground. There is a gift shop, a children's playset, and an outdoor workout area. I loved the workout equipment, it was neat. I didn't go too far into the campground but it looked really nice. They have several trails you can explore. I went on the Sandpiper loop. It was about a mile. It was a bit muddy in spots so you may want to take hiking boots. I saw a deer and some mud crabs along the way. They even have a couple of dedicated places to stop and take a photo of the landscape. This provided a nice easy walk and a place for my pup and I to stretch our legs.

I found that the trail markings and other signage were well above average. One extra touch I found commendable is the scenic spot picture opportunities. Yes, they have a bracket set up to position your phone for the perfect shot. The visitors center is easily accessible and staffed by friendly and knowledgeable park rangers. My only complaint is that the "Avion" trail continues to be closed. Overall, the park is a great way to spend an afternoon commuting with nature.

As for the staff, all my interactions were great. The front desk girls were very nice each time I went into the store to get ice or to buy something. The ground crew folks, some of whom were workcampers, were also very friendly. The grounds are decent and clean. Now you know, if you camp, some other campers can mess that up but I didn't see that here during my stay. The pool was decent and a nice break from the hot June beach. The camp store had everything you might need quickly. As for location: You can get to anyplace on Tybee by walking, biking, or golf cart. Its a nice island. Oh, also two dog parks right next to the campground. I could ramble a bit more but I won't. I will say we liked it so much- we booked our next stay before we left. So if you're looking for a nice beach stay and plan on camping - come here - I don't think you'll be disappointed.
