Nice well spaced out from your neighbor. Lots of trees with Spanish moss hanging down. There is a river with a nice dock. Staff is friendly. New electrical boxes are being installed, new construction all around. We stayed here in our 30' Fifth-wheel, full hook ups.

Horrible experience. Got to campground at 3am after a long drive. Got a call from front office, saying we had to be out by 11 or they will charge us another day. When clearly on their check-in it states 12:00. Manager says it's an old check in map. And nothing was done to help us out. Now we jus have a bunch of stinky kids and an unsatisfied camper.

I have experienced a lot better campgrounds. Don't except much from the public bathrooms. They smelled and were not maintained well. The public shower requires you to push a button every 20 seconds to receive more water. The public restroom bathroom did not work correctly and the water did not flush completely out. They have dimly lit walkways around the campground which doesn't work well with the stumps and poorly maintained walkways. Encountered a Grumpy staff when checking in. "Resort" is not the word I would use for it, I would have used "Rest Stop". ...should have booked a local hotel (which are well priced!) or the RV resort closer to Savannah.

Call health department before you stay here!! They had a flood and had customers parked on top of open sewage! The owners and workers are so extremely rude. I do believe the only reason the place is still in business is because it is in a good location. If you're Looking for a monthly stay look somewhere else they do not care about the people that stay there monthly. First night we got there someone was parked in our spot. Instead of changing our spots so we didn't have to move again they put us in a temp spot. Then water from the river started to rise they told us it was high tide and there was nothing to worry about, that sounded fishy to me so we moved our low to the ground the car to the front of the RV park. When I woke up the next day our camping spot was completely underwater they didn't come to try to move us to warn us or nothing. When we tried to get them to move us to a front spot they drug their feet and we had to threaten a call to the BBB. We moved to the front of the RV park (which is more on a hill) they called us two days later to tell us to move back to our original flooded spot and the water was still over the road. My husband does not like to argue so he moved back to the flooded spot the health department came and told us to move spots again because it was unsafe. We moved again and the next day the park called and told us to move out. This is after paying for a month the only gave us a portion of the money back and this was only day four of the month this was so annoying bc we have had to move just within their park so many times and they had no remorse or could care less how much they inconvenienced us. I had a package coming the Rv park that was already ordered before we had to leave I just called bc amazon left me a message saying they dropped the package off two days ago, the lady tells me they sent the package back which was a lie bc amazon would have put this in their notes. Spend your money somewhere else!!!

Highly recommend this RV park.

Honestly, you might want to avoid it at all times due to the relentless noise. Between the train tracks running right through the property at all hours, heavy traffic buzzing from nearby roads, and military planes and helicopters rattling the sky all day from your neighboring military airbase, peace and quiet simply do not exist here. Another reviewer suggested using earplugs, but trust me: nothing is going to save your sanity when a full-blown freight train blares its horn at 3 a.m. every morning! We booked way in advance online for a week-long plus stay, only to be placed in a spot with absolutely zero shade. When we asked to move, the head staff, Leslie's favorite catchphrase was "just call us next time." Good to know & thanks so much for this lovely help, Leslie! To cool down, you can always hike an eighth of a mile to their very nice pool. Just be prepared for the "gravel gauntlet" (similar to your site, by the way)--navigating loose rocks in flip-flops while carrying pool gear in the heat isn't much fun. Ultimately, we've stayed in cheaper, friendlier, and much more accommodating places. Unless you really love the blazing sun, constant noise and unhelpful office manager, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

Fort McAllister is a Confederate earthen fort built along the Ogeechee River to protect Savannah during the Civil War. It's famous for for withstanding multiple Union naval attacks before ultimately falling during a land ambush in December 1864. By capturing the fort, Union forces had a clear path to the city of Savannah and kick-started Sherman's infamous March to the Sea. Today the park contains a visitors center, a small (but jampacked museum), campgrounds, the historical fort site, and more. The museum may be small, but it's packed with in-depth exhibits. You'll easily pass at least an hour here if you really take your time to read through everything. I especially loved the unexpected Henry Ford connection to the fort. Walking the grounds of the fort was the real highlight though. Fort McAllister is one of the best-preserved earthen forts from the Civil War, and you can explore the ramparts, cannons, and earthworks. Whether you're a casual visitor or a die-hard history buff, this park delivers a great walk in history's footsteps. Highly recommend carving out a few hours here!

Our big breed didn't have much gallop space in the K9, but front to back, this campground is huge and woodsy, so it was at least a great dog walking spot. The swans this campground is known for were indeed present as well as herons, geese, and a few birds we don't typically see at home. As the signs also posted there was a lake alligator, our first outside a zoo, but it kept a good distance from the lakeshore. The map even shows a bird sanctuary, and at twilight bats were doing their part. Disney was our ultimate destination but this was an excellent landing spot, to and from. It was also worth the extra night so we could poke around Savannah and Fort Pulaski (jumping fish on our memorable mini-trip). The store was well-stocked with cold drinks for all ages, souvenirs and tourist info, and some RV sundries (Food Lion just past I-95 had the rest). The Savannah trolley even pulled into the koa one morning. I've been to a few KOAs, and assure you this is the best laundry of all KOA campgrounds. In my limited experience Dayton and Moab are close, but here we had affordable, updated laundry space here with laundromat driers and trolleys. The best pool? No, but close! It was a pleasant space with good depths and plenty of furniture, and was a shame to leave. Don't forget your swimsuit. The bathhouses are updated, cute, and clean. The staff were friendly in the park and in store. This koa had everything we needed. We'd happily come back.
