Beautiful hotel. We loved our peaceful room and laying by the gorgeous pool. The welcome mezcal drink set the tone for a relaxing stay. Everyone that works at the hotel is absolutely wonderful and so welcoming. The on site restaurant was delicious and we were able to find plenty to eat as vegetarians.. The area is very walkable and we enjoyed shopping, and visiting the beautiful church and museum nearby. If you are in Oaxaca you must stay here!

I truely enjoyed our stay at the Quinta Real. A first class hotel with all of the amenites located in an old 17th century Nunnery/Convent. Great old architecture, two foot thick walls and beautiful courtyards. Because it is an old building all of the rooms are a bit defferent. Our room had very tall ceilings, plenty of room for a king size bed and a well appointed bathroom. The hotel has a nice restaurant, pool and bar. The old chappel serves as a conference room. The location is great! The building takes an entire block in the old colonial part of town. It is a short walk to some of the best restaurants in the city, the main plaza and the Benito Juarez and 20 de Novembere markets. The whole area felt surprisingly safe.

AMAZING! If you're looking to have a destination wedding in Oaxaca this place is it. As a guest for my friends wedding it was a lifetime experience that my wife and I will never forget and will always cherish. From the hotel, food and staff it all exceeded our expectations. The staff were all extremely welcoming and friendly. The customer service and expertise not only in our hotel but within Oaxaca overall is like nothing I've every experienced. It was absolutely mind blowing how amazing the people and level of customer service was throughout Oaxaca. If you're looking for a more historical and homey vibe Quinta Real is it. It felt like staying in a castle with such a chill vibe. You won't regret staying here as it's central to a lot of restaurants, markets, shops, and bars. I'd highly suggest speaking to the concierge and booking your festivities prior to your arrival. My wife and I booked something each day we stayed and definitely didn't regret it. I'd highly recommend the Walking Food Tour with Omar Alonso and his team and if you're a big fan of the Netflix series "Somebody feed Phil" the food tour is a must. A+

Absolutely loved my stay here at Quinta Real. My fiancé and I chose this as our wedding venue without ever visiting Oaxaca, it was way more than either of us could've imagined! Built in the 16th century & a sister build of the famous Sanyo Domingo this place will nearly have anyone's jaw on the floor. The architecture & design are out of the this world, far more unique than any new age hotel. Beautiful decor, amazing features & excellent service are what exceeded our expectations. AC PUMPED for the week we were there with no issues at all. The plumbing could use some TLC as it took about 5 mins for our water to heat up (not bad for a building a few hundred years old) but really no complaints at all. Food was too good. Seriously everything we had was so damn tasty I loved every minute of it. Shrimp cocktail, ceviche, & the French toast were my favorites meals to dine on. If you're looking for a nicer hotel in the Centro, you'll definitely pay a bit more here, but it's worth every Penny.

The next time I visit Oaxaca city there is not doubt that I will be staying here again. The staff here is very hospitable and professional. The food here is amazingly good. This former convent has been around longer than the United States has been a country, since the early 1500s. The rooms, court yards, dining areas, are very beautiful. The centralized location is also perfect for those visiting for the first time. First off, my red eye flight had me arriving here way too early for check in at 3 pm. I had previously emailed them about my dilemma and they responded nicely that if they can help they will. That is exactly what they did. They let me check-in early which was extremely nice of them. I made good use of the time by showering up and eating before heading into town. Right off the back, the breakfast I ate there was one of the best meals I have ever had in Mexico or my life. I had Oaxacan black mole with chicken, a red mole with pork, tamales with mole, Mexican sweet bread (conchas), coffee and juice. The black mole was nothing less than amazing!! The sweet bread was on the same level. I have tried sweet bread from many Mexican and Central American bakeries in Chicago. But no, this was different, this bread was something different, I had never had anything like this. It was truly amazing as was the setting. The breakfast area is next to a courtyard that probably as not changed in almost 500 years! The courtyard has a beautiful fountain in the center and nicely manicured landscaping in the surrounding areas. Can it get better than this! Actually it can! They had live musicians playing for the breakfast crowd! It was beautiful. The front desk people were great. They gave me great advice about my planned stay. Also, they arranged for a personally guided tour of Mezcal region called Matatlan for me. Researching that great smokey liquor, Mezcal, at its orgin one of my main reasons for being there. This hotel was a great jump off point for my stay. The area is very safe. The locals take great pride in looking out for the safety of tourist which make up an essential portion of their local economy. Oaxaca hands down is the best place to eat in all of Mexico. I say this without hesitation. I have traveled to many regions of the country and sampled their different cuisines. (Mexico because of its proximity to the US, I have visited more than any other country in the world.) The cutting edge (Casa Oaxaca, La Catadral, Los Danzantes, Pituyona, Casa Crespo) and traditionalist chefs here are amazing. Also, it is the birth place of chocolate. What's there not to like about chocolate? Coffee, oaxacan cheese, chocolate, mezcal, Monte Alban ruins, the art community, the dining scene are very good reasons for coming here. Also, you are a hop skip and a jump away from the beautiful coastal area of Huitulco which I also loved. In addition, please order up some Mexican hot chocolate with a yema roll for breakfast. Have this combination once, and like myself, you will be addicted. An after hours drink here in a beautiful Spanish Colonial setting is also highly recommended. The bartenders here are top notch and happen to be some of the best in town. Lastly, there is a life sized painting of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sophia of Spain in the lobby area, and I say "if it's good enough for royalty to stay in a place like this, then, it's good enough for me as well". The painting hangs there in honor of their visit to this beautiful Spanish colonial building.

Easily the best hotel in Oaxaca. Below are the key benefits: - Central location, a few blocks away from Zocollo yet not in the middle of the commotion - Rooms are very well designed and comfortable - has a great restaurant on the property with an extensive menu with options for both local and more western cuisines - The staff is very caring and always around for help with anything - The pool / courtyard is perfect for a nice dip and to relax with soothing tunes and the chirping birds - A block away from Santo Domingo which is very cool and vibrant and the hangout of choice for the young and the hip - about 20 minutes drive to the airport The biggest attraction of this property is its history. Can't put down in words. It's worth spending that extra $ to experience the history and the luxury.

The pool from our room was beautiful

Excellent service, attentive staff and an impeccable ambiance are marks of a 5 star hotel and this hotel is the best in Oaxaca hands down. Every detail is stunning down to the bathrooms, the art all over from the old fountains and gardens to the alibrijes behind acrylic glass to the decoration of the modern wiith the rustic, traditional surroundings create a relaxing yet stunning ambiance you can spend all day in relaxing or chilling at the pool. Even the lobby while small is beautiful. The rooms are comfortable and beautiful, I recommend the rooms in front of the pool on the second story. Oh had my wife and I will be back and stay here.
