Ideally situated in an old and noble residence, surrounded by trees and calm, it is just a 10 minutes' walk to the Oporto city centre and 5 minutes' to the nearest Metro Station. In the city centre it is possible to visit many touristic sites, such as "Torre dos Clérigos", "Palácio da Bolsa", "Sé Catedral", the Town Hall, S. Bento Station, the Churches of "Misericórdia", "Carmo" and "Carmelitas" as well as the Rectory of the University. Still within the perimeter of the city centre, the walking route through the "Rua das Flores" is a "must see" leading the visitors to one of the oldest parts of the city, with particular emphasis to the "Ribeira" area along the Douro River. In the Dukes Corner we are very proud to offer a warm welcome to indulge our guests' wishes and be certain that they will come back again. There are 7 bedrooms available (one of them is a Suite) individually furnished and distinctive in style and adapted to the modern demands of comfort. All rooms have en-suite bathroom with free WIFI access, Cable TV and Air Conditioning. It's two star hotel and we didn't expect much about it but a room and a bathroom were clean, with a nice size balcony. Bonus was a nice swimming pool after a long day walk. It was a treat for sure. There was not much around the area so we ate at the restaurant attached to the hotel. Food was exceptionally good with local cuisine. One of the food to try in Portugal was Seafood Rice and we had that one and a skewer of squid which came with other seafood on it. The total cost with 1 and half bottle wine and bread, olives, and pate with the food was 40 Eruo. What a gem in this little town!

The breakfast is quite spectacular in a smallish room on the first floor which requires timed seatings in order to accommodate all the guests. But the true heart of the operation are the gracious, friendly and delightful owners Carmen and Joao. They could not be more helpful, from recommending things to do, places to eat or providing a running commentary on matters Portuguese. It is a guesthouse and not a hotel. Some criticisms on other websites have noted there are rules (such as guests must be in by 1am or risk being out all night) but we found them perfectly reasonable and acceptable. We have travelled all over the world and have rarely had a better lodging experience.

She is a whirlwind and an inspiration while at the same time makes great food and conversation. I was able to slip in on short notice and look back fondly. I took many photos and videos to memorialize my brief stay there. I was aware ahead of time of the fantastic reputation and it lived up to that and more. Even the check out guy at REI told me two months ahead of time, "you have to stay at Casa Fernanda". He was right.
