Cute place but very few mod cons. Small room, no closet. No lift, only stairs. The better your view…read moreis, the higher the floor, the more painful the climb. We were on the 4th floor and our view was just ok. Very noisy with all the Ribiera pedestrian and vehicle traffic. This hotel is just at the mouth of a tunnel. If only another block or two over, it may be better. The room is charming but small. Many of the little charming offers don't actually work - like the record player. Cute, but didn't work. No TV or radio in the room either. Couldn't even open all the curtains. The staff were extremely nice, and the coffee in the lobby was the best I had in Porto!

Just outside is a small market shop for foodstuffs and a lovely wine and tapas bar. Wonderful view from this top floor 2 bedroom unit. It's comfortable and functional. We were under the mistaken impression the website gave that we would have a balcony from the photos. But balcony rooms are singles, so take note. However there are beautiful views frim every room and the staff has been very accomodating and helpful in giving direction it is not a factor in this review score.

I stayed at this hostel for 4 nights on a solo trip to Porto, Portugal. This hostel is located very…read morecentral in Porto and easily accessible by foot from Trindade or Aliados Metro stations. The hostel is fresh, modern, and somewhat new. The staff and front desk are welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. The hostel has private rooms with shared bathrooms. I opted to stay at a dorm like room with bunk beds. I was able to request my preferred bed and I was lucky to be assigned my preferred bed. The room I stayed in was located on the 3rd floor Room 1. It had 2 showers, 2 toilets, and 2 sinks. It even had a hair dryer and 2 hand towels to use. The lighting was adequate and ventilation was good since it had exhaust fans that switched on when someone was using the bathroom. The rooms were of good size and had a nice sized bed and lockers that fit a carry on size luggage. The room had wide doors that open to the balcony which offered fresh air. The room also has a wall mounted split type air conditioner. Each bed had an electrical outlet, a small ledge to place some items, and a reading light. Each set of bunk beds has a foldable chair which I found useful when organizing items on my backpack. Daily housekeeping was provided and the room was "organized" each day. I preferred my things not to be touched or moved but I did not have any choice. I learned to just lock everything up in my locker to avoid any items being moved. The breakfast was adequate and the kitchen area was of good size to accommodate travelers. It had a cooking area, fridge, utensils, cookware, and microwave. The hostel is not similar to other "party" hostels. This is a quiet hostel which I preferred. Pros: - Friendly staff - Location - Price - Overall cleanliness - Spacious - Generally quiet compared to other hostels - No party scene - Good for introverts Cons: - It took 3-5 minutes for the hot water to run - Housekeeping would move items to organize the room If you found this review helpful, click on the helpful icon to help other travelers. Pros: Lovely and beguiling and gorgeous historic old building on a charmingly scruffy side street…read morejust off the beaten path (15-ish minute walk from tourist center) in Ye Ole O'Porto. Delicious pastries at the complementary breakfast spread (delicious pastries seem to be the norm and baseline in this glorious country). Room was beautifully and thoughtfully designed and offered a lovely, if rustic old European style little balcony window, where you will feel like Romeo and/or Juliet while standing and looking out from it. Light was gorgeous streaming through the room in the morning. Cons: For the price point (same as most of the more higher end hotels in town at time of booking 7/2019) the basicness in service and amenities can feel less charming and more irritating. Lugging my suitcase up and down the way up and down from my 5th floor room, along with having spotty to nonexistent wifi service once up there didn't add to the experience in any positive way.

This New York Times-recommended boutique hotel checked pretty much all the boxes for me…read more The location was perfect, a mere ten minute walk from the city center and a one minute walk to cafés, laundromat, and a small Minipreço (a Portuguese supermarket chain). The included breakfast was delicious (cereal, granola, yogurt, fruit, quiche, cold cuts, tarts, coffee, tea, juice), and the small dining room and outdoor garden was homey and comfortable. With only eight rooms, it's a quiet hotel that feels very intimate and private. It's less than two years old, so while there is a vintage interior design, everything is well maintained. The décor was sophisticated and my room was so comfortable; it felt more like a beautifully decorated home than a hotel. There was no TV (not that you need one!), but there's wifi. There was a small balcony that looked out over a few houses and backyards. On the top floor, it was relaxing and a great way to breathe in the Portuguese air. The hosts were friendly and helpful, pointing us to all the key places in Porto including which areas were more touristy and overpriced and which were more authentic and representative of the city. They also let us have breakfast and leave our luggage there before our official check-in time because we arrived in the morning, a good eight hours before we were supposed to check in. It was a 35€ taxi ride and 19€ uber ride (with 1.5x surge pricing, so it would've been about 13€ under normal circumstances) to/from the Porto airport, one-way. At about $150/night (CAD), it's a little pricier than other places I stayed in Porto and Portugal, so that's the only hesitation I would have if I were to visit again. However, if that price is okay with you, I would have no problem recommending this place as our stay was excellent.
