The BEST experience of our two-week Portugal trip! We booked our room through AirBnB and were welcomed with such friendliness.
The room was perfect - spacious, clean and comfy.
The highlight for us was the dinner and vineyard tour. It was 35€ per person and included a four course meal, tour of the vineyard/farm and a port tasting.
Our meal included local charcuterie and cheeses, braised bacalhau with the best potatoes, bread, poached pears, a lovely sponge cake and of course, wine and port. I'd say most of the ingredients were sourced from their farm and made in house.
Our tour was special as it was hosted by Cesar, the fourth generation owner of the Quinta. His passion for the vines and the making of quality port, table wine and olive oil was unsurpassed. Not to mention, the sun setting on the valley was breathtaking.
After the tour we purchased a bottle of rosè and sat on the patio. Everything was so quiet and still - the perfect retreat from the city and harrowing drive to the farm.
The next morning we woke up early to hike the hills and vineyards to see the sunrise. From there we were greeted with a huge breakfast (included in the stay) of sweet breads, fruit from their farm and local meats and cheeses.
We were so sad to only have one evening at the quinta. Whether you just go for dinner (call ahead!) or stay, you won't want the experience to commence. read more
