The students that I met were super friendly and very smart. The school is very small, with 60 students in each year of the MBA program. The workload is intense, but I heard only good things about the classes and the professors. The students come from a variety of backgrounds, and there is a strong emphasis on career development and internships/jobs. Though it was only the second month of school when I was there, the students were already meeting with recruiters and attending info sessions for summer internships. The building itself looks like a small house from the front but ends up being like Alice in Wonderland. There is a new SOM building being built in the road that is going to be huge and fancy - I believe the completion date is Spring 2014.

After taking one of their classes I decided to become a member of their ambulance corps because I loved the people here so much. (I have now been a happy member of Echo Hose Ambulance Corps for 2 years). The instructors here are incredibly knowledgable and want their students to learn in a way they can pass any state exam AND ALSO so that they can succeed out in the field. All of the instructors have given me and other students important lessons that aren't always in a book. Because of these great teachers I will feel more comfortable in an emergency, responding to 911 calls, and even MCIs. Echo Hose offers excellent quality classes and also very personable instructors that have passion for what they teach. Aside example of how great they are: During my state Recertification exam I was cold (I always am) and so I was hunched over taking the exam. One of the instructors, Pat, noticed. He went into the back office and came back with a fleece blanket and told me I could wrap that around myself to stay warmer. I finished off my exam more comfortably and warmer. Thank you Pat and the rest of the Echo Hose Training center team for always making those in your classes feel welcome and like family. I highly recommend taking the refresher courses, CPR classes, or any other EMS class Echo Hose offers.

The Fairfield school is closer to me but they never responded to any of my calls or emails. Milford responded right away. They were very friendly and professional with a good sense of fun and enjoyment of what they do. Bear in mind that they don't like to offer any criticism even though it may be constructive. This is because they don't make any money by discouraging students no matter how untalented they may be. Personally, I welcome correction because it leads to improvement. The teachers com from a variety of backgrounds. My teacher was a graduate of a college level music program and he really knew his stuff!

The school property was clean and well maintained. Most of the classrooms were large in size, and usually had a full-class. The laboratories and facilities were very good and well taken care of. The teachers, for the most part, were excellent. I don't have any complaints about any of them! PLUS, the "Bulldogs" (Bunnell) always kicked the "Red Devils" (Stratford H.) butt!

More black plywood was in the gym. A sign high on the gym wall announced that mooning the cheerleaders was prohibited, as was giving them the finger and cursing them. This was for the benefit of those who might have thought it was OK. When I went there again 10 years ago, the front entrance was sealed. The front office had been modified by adding a small door and stairs, and visitors entered there. After entering, visitors walked a narrow pathway with plexiglass walls, so they could be observed before gaining admittance. A police car was parked outside, right in front. I imagine police are on duty there full time these days. Driving through the parking lot, now trimmed in weeds, was no fun. It had been filled with speed bumps. Is it even possible to plow it in the winter? I had gone there to inquire about class records, to be used in planning a class reunion. They told me there were no records. Were they telling the truth, or were they just flipping me off? I don't know. I admit it sounded unlikely. Can I blame the school for reflecting the dismal societal changes that have taken place since I was a student there? I don't think so. It's just a building, after all. I must have grown up in a golden age. I had no idea what was in store.
