I recently joined a quilting guild so I can learn to sew. Starting from zero today I received many lessons. Stephanie was so helpful and polite. Stephanie was blessed with a strong character and I appreciated it today. The women I came in with were explaining something to me in reference to sizing that didn't make sense to me. Stephanie stopped the conversation and drew my focus in to learn what they were saying... but visually. I believe that she actually saw me not understanding and Starting to panic. I truly appreciate her explaining it in a way that I could understand. The selection here was amazing especially in the very back. I had no idea how expensive small squares of material would be. I found something perfect and I was able to get it on sale. We drove all the way here from Hemet, Ca and I feel like it was worth it. Thank you for great customer service. The selection of top quality quilting fabrics is fabulous. I always find something (several somethings truth be told) beyond what I entered the shop to pickup. They have continued their after hours pickup so ordering local and picking up on your way home is easy-peezy. Yearly, there is a Quilters Run that my mom and I go which included the Quilt In a Day shop. Yes plenty of fabric, but I was shocked to see an employee? Volunteer? Wearing a "we the people" T-shirt with a high powered weapon clearly depicted on the shrit. Free speech is always welcome, however, in today's environment this was inappropriate for a business who is inviting ALL for her to be wearing this item. There were plenty of "Quilt In A Day" shrits for sale for $5 that could have been given to workers as a uniform . I am surprised that the manager, owner or another co -worker did not say something. read more

I went into the store and requested the pattern of a quilt that was hanging on the wall. They sold me the wrong pattern. After three phone calls and three trips to the store, they said that possibly the staff member that was helping me that day was just a volunteer and made a mistake. So I had to buy the pattern and they did not let me exchange the wrong one for the correct one. this is poor customer service. They should have stood behind their employee and corrected their mistake. read more

The store has everything you would need, and then some. The issue today was with the employees. There was a line of several people when a "longtime customer" came in and wanted to pick up a purchase. She was allowed to cut in front of the line, and several (nearly all) employees worked at helping her. After finally getting the items she had purchased ahead of time, as the employee was finally going back to the rest of the line, the customer started taking about a book she wanted to buy. Again, all attention went back to this lady while the other customers were ignored. It was excused by saying that the lady's husband had issues and would come into the store and start yelling if she didn't hurry. But she had time to search for a book, have conversations with the employees, and then search for some thread, when she could have just gotten her items from the lockers at the front of the shop. Even when an employee was finally helping us, she kept turning back to join in the whole fiasco going on with this "longtime customer." (We were told several times that she was a "longtime customer," so I guess that she was more important than the rest of us.) We should have just walked away, but my sister really needed the fabric that she had chosen. read more

In December I purchased a number of colors of a particular fabric line of good quality fabric. Not thinking that I had to check every inch of the fabric for flaws, I prewashed and ironed my fabric, at which time I noticed that most of the colors were covered with white specks of undyed spots. There were also a number of heavy undyed threads and abrasion marks. I first contacted the fabric's manufacturer, Dear Stella, who told me I had to contact the vendor. Quilt in a Day refused to provide any help to me because the fabric had been washed. All these fabrics are still for sale on their website. I will never purchase from Quilt in a Day again. They do a real disservice to those of us who must shop online. read more

I recently ordered some mask making supplies from Quilt in a Day; a friend who has been quilting many years recommended them. I was pleased with the prices and I would rather pay for the shipping than drive 45 minutes to get there. My order had one error, I was sent 1/4 inch elastic instead of 1/8 inch elastic. I sent an email to customer support and received a response the next business day. I received my replacement in just a couple days along with the prepaid label to return the wrong item. Overall a very good experience! read more

They cheated me! They short-cut their fabric but then when given photographic proof of how they cheated me, tell me without the ziploc bag the order came in, supposedly with someone's initials on it, they would not offer me a substantial remedy (whatever some plastic bag has to do with anything???). I ordered 16 half-yard cuts of various $$$$ (most were $12/yd) batik fabrics and asked, when measuring/cutting it, they actually cut the yardage, not tear it, like they usually do. (Tearing distorts the fabric and they don't account for that distortion when measuring out their fabric, so I thought I'd avoid that in hopes of getting my full, ordered amount of yardage by asking they cut it in lieu of tearing.) When the order arrived, not one single piece of the 16 cuts were even CLOSE to being a full 18" / half yard - right out of the bag, and once I squared them up most ended up at barely 15", closer to a solid 14". I took photos of each fabric and submitted them as proof, only to have their rude, disrespectful, abrupt and obnoxious Customer Service Rep argue with me then essentially call me a liar. I'm a quilter, not a photographer; I did my best to provide pictorial evidence of their wrongdoing/shorting of yardage, but I believed those photos clearly showed the inadequacies of each cut. They never admitted fault, nor apologized, and the best they would do was offer me a sum total of a $3.00 refund which they later reduced to $2.00 and change and then, get this, told me henceforth it was MY responsibility to tell THEM to square up fabric prior to cutting! SERIOUSLY? That's THEIR job! Eleanor Burns is a delight but the 'bleeps' running this place are shameful and certainly not trustworthy. I can't help but wonder if Eleanor knows how her employees are cheating customers out of the full amount of yardage ordered. SHAMEFUL. read more

NOT HAPPY WITH THEM AT ALL. I purchased some fabric online, since I'm in Washington State. I found 2 very cute prints that I wanted to make masks with. When I received it in the mail, it WAS NOT AS ADVERTISED! Their website described the fabric as, "100 Quality Cotton Fabric". Instead, both cuts of fabric are made out of POLYESTER and are fuzzy! In addition, when I removed the fabric out of the plastic bag that it was shipped in, the fabric was cut unevenly! How can you NOT cut 1/2 yard evenly????? So, now I've been short changed in addition to purchasing fabric that was NOT how it was advertised. Really???? I sent an email to customer service. I have yet to hear back from them. If and when I do, I'll be happy to give an "update". I'm very disappointed with them in receiving the "product" I thought I would be getting. I really hope the manager or management team sees this review and does something positive about it. This is very disappointing. UPDATE: 06/20/2020 I called & left a message the day I posted my original review. I was contacted the following day by "Anita". She was kind and professional. I told her I was disappointed that their fabric that I purchased was not advertised correctly on their website. She got approval from her supervisor and I was sent a return label. I was able to get a refund for my purchase. I'm glad they were able to honor my request. The next time you decide to purchase fabric online, do a little extra research and make sure you know what the actual print of fabric is actually printed on. read more

I am a new sewer/quilter and I am having a ton of fun discovering a new creative craft. I drove (an hour from my home) to this shop to pick up a ruler that I bought online. I like that they have extensive lockers out front of the store for curbside pickup but the morning my item was ready I received a call that I would have to come in the store to pickup because my item was oversized. I was happy with that as it gave me to opportunity to check out a new fabric shop that I haven't been to before. Let me just say that the customer service in this store is APPALLING. I have been to one other quilt shop (Rosie's Calico Cupboard which I HIGHLY recommend over Quilt In A Day) and I am always a little nervous going in because I am so inexperienced and a beginner. The woman working in the store (I have her name but I won't put her on blast) was so RUDE and MEAN that I just can't figure out what her deal was. Can you imagine being a beginner and eager to learn something new and come across someone that treats you like gum on the bottom of their shoe? I was already nervous about asking a stupid question but I didn't know I would also have to be wary of downright MEAN shop staff. Their fabric selection is so-so but I found a couple items that I wanted to get to build up my stash before I picked up my ruler. I walk up to the cutting counter and the woman just stares at me. I go to lay my bolts on the counter and she just says "In the cart" pointing to the nondescript shopping cart next to the counter. I apologize and put my bolts in the cart. Then she just STARES at me again and I ask her (politely) for a 1/2 yard of each. She proceeds to cut my fabric without saying a word to me. I then let her know that I also have an online order to pick up. She interrupts me and tells me I have to go to the lockers out front. I tell her my item is oversized and that I received a call to pickup inside. The she looks at me and just rudely states "You are SUPPOSED to tell me that first before I cut your fabric!". Ok. I apologize again and look around to see if I was the inconsiderate one and if I missed a sign or something but the only sign I see is one that says you have to tell them if you have any coupons before the ring you up. Ok... so I wait in silence for her to finish and I pay for my items. Then she just leaves the register without saying anything and I follow her as she heads to an office area where she finds my ruler and shoves it at me and then heads back to the cutting counter. I am the one to say goodbye and wish her a nice day when it should be the other way around. I will NEVER come back to this store again. I would rather pay for shipping and wait for an item in the mail then step foot through their door. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else other than here. read more

I am in town for the holidays and thought I would see if I could find a quilt shop. QIAD was only 20 minutes away. At first wasn't sure because it isn't located in a shopping area, more industrial but later realized this is their main office and location as well as their online store shipping facility. I was very excited to see all the markdowns and clearance items. They have a Black Friday sale over the weekend so things were not in complete order. Lots of fabrics for $3.00-$5.00 per yards. I see lots of reviews with negative customer service comments. I did not experience that. I asked some questions to more then one employee and was greeted very friendly. It was so much fun. First of all, shut up. Yes, I sew, and I was here at least three times while making a quilt for my friend's new baby. Second, I imagine that when my grandmother died, she might very well have gone to a heaven that looks exactly like this store. There are shelves upon shelves upon shelves of the most wonderful 100% cotton fabrics, all organized according to color or common pattern or theme. Handpainted, patterned, solid, textured... you name it, they've got it. They also carry just about everything you could possibly need for making a quilt, from tools to patterns to magazines, and offer classes in a huge studio in the back. Now all I need is the time to take one of them! The staff at Quilt in a Day was wonderful in helping me choose the right materials for my project, and was also kind enough to point me in the direction of a master longarm quilter who helped me finish it. I love everything about this place, and I can't wait to go back to start choosing fabrics for my next quilt! read more

I have ordered from Quilt in a Day's online store 3 times prior to the current time with mixed success. Their website promotes shipping within 24 hours except during large sales. They don't disclose that since they send out a daily email with 3 items on sale that every day is a sale, so they don't ever ship within 24 hours. I didn't really expect this, but when I placed an order on December 20, I did think it would ship before December 27. Next, Fedex said it would be delivered on December 29. When it didn't show up by December 31, I contacted Quilt in a Day. The customer service person told upon contacting Fedex that the package was still in transit and would eventually arrive. It is now January 3rd and nobody knows where the package is. I live in Colorado. Quilt in a Day is in California. It really shouldn't take from December 20th to January 3rd to order some precut fabric, a few notions, and a pattern for something to show up. Also, the website states they ship via UPS and USPS. They use Fedex. Customer service told me I can call on January 7th and they will look into the issue. read more

I recently ordered a pattern from Sew Many Creations (Prima Diva). While the order was received promptly and in good condition I was disappointed in the quality of the pattern. Pictures were black and white and small and difficult to see details. Unfortunately I ordered before I found a tutorial for this bag online that had large clear pictures and directions. I went to this store today. I didn't have a mask in. I've been in before with out a mask. Faith berated me telling me I had to have a mask on. I am double vaccinated. I told her the mandate is over at it's against my constitutional rights. She told me if I did t put a mask in I could leave. I witnessed her being rude to a few other people in the store. I asked about fabric bundles and she pointed to two. One. Informed me that that's all they had I. The store. I've shopped here before as I said. This was my first experience with rude behavior. I asked who the owner was and she told me Elenor Burns and I could talk to her. She said if it's about the mask I was out of luck. She referred to the owner as a him. Agai I asked for his name and she replied Orion. Elenors son. She again told me he would not talk to me and I was out of luck. I asked her to repeat that and she said I was out of luck. I told her I will complain about her and she said she will tell the owners about me first. Such rude behavior Don't shop here. Customer service is lacking with this woman. The mask mandate is I'm writing an edit here. I ended up emailing customer service hoping it would get to Orion. Not only did he respond he was very genuine and kind. He was not aware of this behavior and said he addressed it. I just love this little store and will continue to support local small shops I'm changing my 1 star to a 4 star based on his quick response and addressing my concerns. This shop has the most unfriendly, unhelpful employees I have ever encountered in a quilt shop. I called on Sunday to ask if they had any old, retired fabrics in their side room that aren't listed on their website and was told that they do. So I drove out there on Monday only to be told that everything that they have is listed on their website AND no one is allowed in that side room on the right on weekdays, only on Saturday and Sunday. But of course the person I spoke to on the phone didn't bother to tell me that. There were quite a few employees working and only one other customer in then store while I was there but if I dared to ask one of the employees a question It seemed as if I was bothering them. I ended up leaving without purchasing anything. No need to EVER go back unless and until Eleanor hires some customer friendly employees. read more

Beautiful fabrics at reasonable prices for quilt quality. Went in around noon, one customer ahead of me. Absolutely no assistance or acknowledgement of my presence. One employee cutting, others walking through, talking to other customer. When I interjected, to ask if I could shop in other rooms, I was told there were discounted bolts, didn't see them. Waited quite a while, maybe 10 -15 minutes to get one fabric cut. The employee kept on looking over her shoulder at me, but never said a word. The other customer was getting 1/2 yard each of probably 10 fabrics. I left with my money and no fabrics. Hard to support local over internet with these practices. I'll probably buy off net. Feeling very sad My 3 stars is only due to selection, but that does no good if you can't get service to actually buy it read more

I stop by this store about twice a year. It's not that I live far away, it's just that I never feel welcome here, and I noticed that things haven't changed. So the fabric selection is pretty good, but what's the use if you can't get anyone to help you. The shelves are crammed so tight you can't even move the bolts to see the fabric. I have a broken shoulder and no one offered to help me at all. When I finally got help from the only woman in the fabric room, it seemed like it was a big inconvenience for her to cut (or rather tear) my fabrics for me. I won't mention her name, but it starts with the letter F. Mrs. F could use some lessons in customer service. At the very least, she could greet prospective customers. I won't ever take a class here and won't be back for a long time. read more

What a nice lady. Her license plate reads QLTNADY. I was slow and didn't get it right away. "Quilt 'n Ady?" "Quilting Ady?" I do however, sew. The front room with all of the sewing gadgets and do-dad's was MY heaven. Friendly staff! The Studio Stage is accessible from the sale room. It's like an infomercial in a country den. The large classroom gave me vertigo when I looked up at the hanging quilts with busy designs. read more

I've lived in the area for 10 years and didn't realize Eleanor Burns' store was within 6 miles of my house! Thanks to a friend, I've found my new fabric shop! The quality and selection of fabric is amazing and well-displayed. We arrived on a Tuesday afternoon, and Eleanor Burns herself walked into the store! She was very sweet and spent time chatting with us, even autographed a pattern and book! All this time I thought Eleanor lived in Kentucky-what a surprise! Staff in the store were so friendly and accommodating. They showed us a room where all the fabrics are $6.00 per yard! This is in another area next to the store, where there's a large selection of regularly priced fabrics. A beautiful display of Quilt In A Day quilts are hung on all the walls above the fabric and in the classroom. The staff let us take pictures of them. We were impressed by the rows and rows of of batiks and quality-brand fabrics. What a neat find! One of the clerks informed me of a "birthday month" discount. I'll be back for sure. read more

I've made one quilt in my life and that was years ago so I was a bit rusty. My youngest daughter wanted to make her first quilt so we thought it would be fun to make them together. We shopped around at a couple of stores, and stumbled upon Quilt In a Day. We were mesmerized by the shelves upon shelves of beautiful fabrics! I fell in love with the wide range of batiks they had. The building is huge and so is their inventory! We picked a pattern we both liked based on all the beautiful quilts on display. I thought it would be as easy as opening the pattern and just start picking out fabrics, but I didn't even know what a "fat quarter" was. The staff weren't super friendly at first, but when they saw that we were serious, they answered all of our questions and even showed us how to cut fabric and read the pattern. My daughter and I spent at least 2 hours laboring over our fabric choices and one of the gals was SO helpful in suggesting prints that might work. I think some of the lower ratings might be from people that wanted immediate help (and based on how much time they spent with us, I can imagine that might be frustrating if you're waiting) I also imagine that it might be frustrating for them to have such novices come into the shop and want a full explanation on how to make a quilt, but I think once they saw our enthusiasm, they were all about helping us. We were thrilled with our final selections, although they didn't have enough plain black fabric for our projects, they gave us a card with all the local shops that carried the same quality. Thank you to the kind staff that spent so much time with us! We even poked our heads into a class that was going on and the people in the class where more than happy to tell us about the project they were working on and the class itself. Overall very impressed! We will be back, and they even said they would love to see our quilts when they are all finished. When my daughter and I finish our first project, we will definitely come back to Quilt in a Day! read more
