At the risk of being a broken record, QT is the best convenience store chain for everyday life…read more Sure, the Beaver is a great place for road trips, souvenirs, and all things Texas. But for clean stores, fair prices, great drinks of all sorts, and really good snack options -- even after hours, QT is the best. Stopped in late Wednesday night and I was as impressed as usual. There's plenty of drinks. The store is well lit. The store is clean. The staff is beyond friendly. The snack bar is closed, but there's plenty of great stuff on the roller grill. (FYI, the steak and cheese taquitos are stellar.) The condiment area for the roller grill/snack bar is spotless -- and stocked. 2 taquitos and 2 fountain drinks for under $6. What's not to love about this place?

I easily found what I wanted. At the register I was greeted, just like I expected from a QuikTrip. And the employee was easily managing the checkout of customers from both sides of the register. I was in and out very quickly. This location is directly on the toll road, so I noticed that the fuel pumps were busy. They are spaced well apart. Also, the pumps are far enough away from the store to allow cars to get in and out of the store without any interference.

However the service is on the rude side, the offerings mediocre for the price charged, and like other people I had issues with the card reader when I came in. Do have to give a mild thumbs-up for this location's 'Angelina's Tacos Caseros', which is a sort of branded taco/burrito chain melded to some 7-Elevens. Rather than tacos, I think this place just serves a couple types of burrito. That said, the chicken burrito ain't half bad. You're probably better off elsewhere but it was hot, the chicken was good, and I'd eat it again if I was in the vicinity. Note: It's to-go only, I didn't see anyplace to sit down and eat.
