It's not massive like the other place, but it's clean and it has a few hot food spots as well as a Dunkin for my coffee needs. The staff is beyond friendly and I always chat it up with them. My only complaint is that the squeegees outside to clean my windows is there, but they are never in any kind of cleaning solution. It's just sitting there dry. Driving almost 300 miles to get to this spot means the windows needs some serious cleaning. Despite that, this will always be my stop heading back to Houston until I hit my other favorite spot a few hours later!

I prefer Murphy Express because if you add your phone number for their rewards program you collect points that can be used for gas discounts and items for purchase in the convenience store. I specifically use if for the gas discounts. And a plus with Murphy Express is that the points do not expire. I like that you can save for as long as you want without worrying about an expiration date. When gas prices go crazy I take advantage of it. Another reason that I prefer this one is because it is a walk inside actual convenience store not one of those walk ups that Murphy has all over the place.

I feel the need to submit this review because on Thursday, 31 August 2017, when Dallas-Fort Worth had a severe run on gas stations due to social media hype regarding Hurricane Harvey. Many gas stations ran out of gas because this supply could not handle the overwhelming demand. Sadly, there were gas stations which increased their prices to absurd amounts, some ranging from $6 - $10 per gallon. Others raised their prices with the more acceptable 25 - 50 cents per gallon. However, Mr. Rick Gillani, owner and manager of Pioneer Grocery which sells Shell gasoline, would have no part of this unethical nonsense. He kept his gas prices at the same price before the run on gas had begun and unlike nearby gas stations located just a few blocks away from his who raised their prices. I have been a patron of Pioneer Grocery for years. It is close to NAS JRB Fort Worth, the military base that military member such as I proudly call our home station. Mr. Gilliani is a Pakistan immigrant who obtained U.S. citizenship. He has children who are proud American citizens. During this hectic time of the gas rush, Rick had all of his employees and family members working to alleviate the long lines at his service station. He vowed he would not turn any customer away until all of his gas had been sold. Furthermore, he personally oversaw effective traffic management of all of the vehicles coming and exiting from his gas station. People were calm and patient because Mr. Gillani and his employees were courteous, professional and kept everything under control. I had the opportunity to tap off my gas tank thanks to Rick. It was during this time that I informed him I was military and had been coming to his service station/store for many years, primarily because of the friendliness and great prices. Rick had actually recognized my car and thanked me for my military service. I informed him I was very pleased to see the kindness and highly ethical manner in which Rick and his Pioneer Grocery employees exhibited. I also took several pictures of his store, including the marquee which clearly listed his $2.59 price for gas---a price he fully honored until all of his gas was sold. Hurricane Harvey has brought out the very best in our country. Unfortunately, it has also identified those who can easily be called the very worst as well. Overwhelmingly, Americans has responded in kind, ethical, and correct actions. But for the few who has attempted to take advantage of those in need, shame on them!!! Persons like Rick Gillani and his Pioneer Grocery store should be commended for doing what was RIGHT, despite others yielding to the temptation to exploit. It is for this reason that I proudly submit this 5-STAR RATING for Mr. Rick Gillani and PIONEER GROCERY. He and his outstanding family and employees deserve to be recognized.
