THE STORE: Located on the first level of The Shops At Wailea near the northern entrance, it's a quaint space that's full of inventory. While organized, the men's shirts were hidden behind one another, so you had to put in the effort of hunting in order not to miss anything. The sale rack was adequate but none of the patterns on discount caught my eye. Instead, I ended up finding the regularly-priced shirt I passed up on at their Ala Moana Center location as my second ever purchase. SERVICE: The sole, young gal working was friendly, professional and even walked my bag around to me from behind the counter. Very classy. The only other time that happened was at Nordstrom Ala Moana. OVERALL: Advantage Maui as we have a slightly lower sales tax than Oahu.

I liked the design of the Hawaiian islands (logo of 808) on the back top in the middle of the shirt, when it arrived the feel of the shirt feels nice as well. Definitely not that hard kind of cotton feel I hate but a little on the softer side. Communication throughout the process was great, shipping and delivery of the product was all within a week. Kinda cool that a postcard was placed in the package thanking me for the purchase and supporting local shops, it also shows who packed it for accuracy, a small 808 sticker and best of all a discount code for buy one get the 2nd 50% off. We came here due to wanting to try out the restaurant Lineage (see review). We shopped at island gourmet markets (an abc with more food options), blue ginger, whalers general store (my favorite as I got some souvenirs from here). They also have an added bonus of a strong Hawaiian culture dance and crafts program associated with the shopping center. See photo. It's too bad I didn't realize they had all these cultural programs earlier as I wanted to join in some of them. (I had gone over to whalers village to join a cultural craft program and no one knew anything about it). Will definitely come back here when I visit again!

There is a general store as well as an ABC Store for snacks, sundries and souvenirs. For those interested in art, there are several galleries offering various forms of artistic creations. At present, there are six galleries carrying all levels of paintings, sculptures, glass, woodworking and other forms of media. Ample free, well-spaced parking is available.

The sales reps acknowledged me when I entered the store, helped me right away, and assisted me when I needed to try a few things in the dressing room. The designs I saw were mainly the Shaka, pineapple, and the Hawaiian islands for the special Hawaii merchandise. Most of the merchandise were long sleeves, leggings, and hoodies, but I think it just depends on the time of the year and what they decide to screen print. The leggings were the high rise align 7/8th length style, and the design is printed on the lower calf. For tops, I saw both short sleeve and long sleeve swiftlys in white with both the Shaka and pineapple design. And for sweaters, I only saw pink cropped scubas with the Hawaii islands design. For men, I saw short sleeve metal vent tees with the Shaka and running shorts with the island design. I also saw leggings for men as well (island design).

Alexa, my fiancée, grabbed a button up shirt and was looking at it against her chest, in a mirror. The sales associate saw this and said, "Is he around to try on the shirt?" (assuming that the shirt was for a man). Alexa, my partner, said, "Oh, it's for me." The sales associate looked at her with a sort of disgust that I can only relate to if she had seen us shoot a puppy. She said, "Really? We don't have many women's clothes here. Do you golf or something?" Again, assuming that the only reason my fiancée would dare wear a button up is if she were golfing. My partner does golf, but that is not why we were shopping. She explained later that she felt the need to justify her purchase because she felt belittled in that moment. We purchased the shirt and left the store, but my partner could not shake the feeling that she was embarrassed and humiliated in public for wanting to buy a shirt that the sales associate deemed inappropriate for a woman to be wearing. She explained that in her decade of wearing "men's clothes," no one has ever treated her that poorly while shopping. It was unacceptable. This happened on 11/9 around noon in Wailea.
