While…read morethe employees and service has never been anything I would rate 5 stars, I understand that it's a pawn shop, so expectations aren't really high when I go there. My last visit will be my last ever. I was spoken to and treated rudely. One of the employees was belligerent to the point that when I clapped back, he proceeded to show me the gun he had and threatened me with it. None of the other 4 or 5 people behind the counter did anything but stare or smirk. If this is how they allow people to act, I'm amazed they are still in business. I will actively discourage people going from this point forward.

Hoover Tactical Firearms' shooting range is like that charming, wise old uncle who knows a lot…read moreabout guns: full of experience, but showing his years. The service here deserves a round of applause. Great guys and great service. The prices were very good. However, the range itself? Well, it's like a well-loved pair of shooting gloves - comfortable but starting to show its age. The range has the charm of an old Western, but with a few more cobwebs and a little less Clint Eastwood. The lanes have that "lived-in" feel.

I took my son to the range to shoot today. As we approached the counter, one of the young men…read morebehind the counter asked what caliber rifle we were going to be firing, and I told him. He asked to see the rounds we were going to be firing, and I obliged, and gave him the five 30- round magazines of ammo we brought. I understand that confirmation is needed to make sure we didn't bring the wrong type of ammo to an indoor range. He immediately snapped at me "don't ever bring loaded magazines like this again". I understand that Hoover Tactical has policies, but I wasn't crazy about the idea of his tone and the fact he was talking to me this way in the presence of my son as I'm being a compliant customer. The man behind the counter emptied all of the magazines in a plastic tray. Again, I have no problem with this. As he was emptying the second magazine, he said "IM GLAD I CHECKED BECAUSE HE HAS ARMOR PIERCING ROUNDS!" He said this where there was no way that the others in line didn't hear it. I tried to tell him that none of the rounds I brought were armor piercing. I told him that I bought the rounds at palmetto state. He replied in a loud and arrogant tone "I don't care where you bought them!" I decided the best thing I could do was to let him conclude whatever he wanted to conclude. A few minutes later I heard him say very quietly "maybe they're alright". After he had unloaded the five 30 round magazines, I went to get the ammo and magazines from the counter. He said "Sorry I had to take them all out, not sorry for you, sorry for me". My line of work, I have to train with firearms. As a matter of fact, my employer has a contract with Hoover Tactical. It's a very convenient location for me as I live about a mile and a half away. But I don't patronize businesses that don't treat me like a customer. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I felt it was my responsibility to report the treatment my son and I received. It was unnecessary.

There were also refreshments, and they had a drawing for a gift card. If you're looking to do your own "picking," this isn't it, but there are some nice items. Booths are curated collections of items both new and old, and while I didn't find anything I just had to have, and partly because I was just looking around, I didn't end up taking anything home that day. However, if I were looking for a period piece, or something to redo a room or space, I would consider looking here for something that isn't a big box, mass produced piece.

There was no pressure or hovering over and around me, which I for one like a lot. The interiors selection was just right for me - very cozy. I only noticed maybe one unoccupied booth and that's always a good sign to me. I made four purchases and at checkout I was surprised to find out that there was a 20% discount value for each item. How nice. It seems to me that the Owners still value the customer. For example, instead of tossing my purchases in a chintzy plastic bag, my purchases were placed in paper shopping bag with carrying handles. Call me silly, but it's those kinds of added touches that make me want to buy from shops/stores that make me feel appreciated. I hope you will treat yourself to a shopping trip at Vintage Interiors in Pelham in the very near future.
