We were working on a major project in Beverly Hills and suddenly found ourselves in desperate need of a mid-sized mini excavator. I had already called 8 or 9 different equipment rental companies around Los Angeles with no luck. We had a 200-ton crane standing by, a full ground crew on site, and approximately $5,000 worth of Beverly Hills road closure and traffic control in place for the day. If we couldn't get that excavator, the entire job was in jeopardy and we were looking at potentially losing more than $25,000 between equipment, crews, permits, traffic control and lost production.
