Not bad during the day, after 9 pm forget it. The cashier is rude and stinks of weed.

Good coffee. Good sandwiches and soups. A little cheaper than Wawa. The breakfast is cheap, 2 sausage, egg & cheese muffins for $3.

I first noticed Panorama Musicale while picking up lunch at Italian Peoples' Bakery next door. From the outside it still looks like an Italian shop from Chambersburg's heyday. But, walking in you realize you aren't in Jersey anymore. The language is Spanish, and the environment is Latin Café. I was there to see about lunch. The friendly owner showed me what was cooking in the water table, and I chose the fried chicken and rice. I noticed the other customers were drinking coffee, and soon understood why. Behind the counter was a copper classic expresso machine, complete with large dome and spread eagle on top. A work of art from another era. So, the chicken was dry and overcooked, and the rice only passable. I wouldn't return for their food unless desperate. For that alone, they would get two stars at most. However, I wasn't gong to leave without testing that awesome contraption, and ordered a latte to go. I watched as the process unfolded. Valves were turned. Steam pipe immersed. Foam poured. Impressive bit of engineering and design. And, the latte was excellent, too! Far better than the average joe, and at a reasonable price compared to the better known beaneries. If it had been served in ceramic, on a tray, and with a cookie, it would have garnered five stars; but given the styro cup delivery, I just couldn't get that far. Panorama Musicale could use a thorough cleaning and a little panache around its wonderful expresso machine, but as it is, it is a surprising find for superior coffee in the heart of Jersey's capital city.

The owner of this place still makes great Espressos, Cappuccinos and Lattes. Today I decided to also have lunch with my son here. There is no menu and just a small hot buffet but ask the people for the daily special and you get a great meal. Today's special was Chicken Soup and I can tell you, it was one of the best chicken soups I had in a long time. Where else in Trenton do you get a good meal and a great coffee in the same place for less than a fast food chain meal?

This location is somewhat small. Seating exists, but more in the way that folding chairs exist at a funeral luncheon. You can sit. You just can't linger without developing opinions about strangers transiting through. The parking lot outside feels like a free form social experiment. Cars were being parked in by other cars while still others idled along the curb as their drivers strolled inside for to go orders, seemingly oblivious to the chaos they left in their wake. In the thirty minutes I was there I witnessed two near misses at the drive thru exit and briefly wondered if Starbucks offered liability waivers with their rewards program. Inside things improved dramatically. I ordered my standard tall flat white, which is a drink Starbucks can usually deliver without adding enough sugar to cause diabetic shock or roasting the beans until they taste like charcoal and regret. I said I was staying and was rewarded with a proper ceramic mug. This small mercy felt important. The staff were exceedingly friendly and appeared to genuinely enjoy one another which gave the place good vibes. There was laughter. There was competence. No one looked trapped or defeated. No small feat in today's world. All in all this Starbucks achieves exactly what corporate sameness is aiming for. Predictable coffee. Pleasant people. A familiar room to get some work done. The only variable is the demolition derby taking place just beyond the doors. If they ever pave over that parking lot with common sense this place might earn another star.
