Today, my wife and two young children, came in for coffee and a bagel. We asked for a toasted bagel with cream cheese, and the man behind the counter forgot to toast the bagel. I asked for a new bagel toasted, and he refused. He said he needed to charge me for the new bagel. After years of loyalty and thousands of dollars spent, this guy fought me tooth and nail, and would not toast me a new bagel. He said that I must pay for a new bagel. This guy was more concerned with two dollars, then keeping his customer satisfied, and doing the right thing. The other customers in the store were just as dumbfounded as we were. This guy did not give up, and he allowed me to reach my boiling point and walk out. He has officially lost our business forever, and forced me to spend time (which I never do) to write this negative review. He was the manager on duty, but not one of the people I typically see. Usually, we see the elder gentleman and his son, who are both very nice and know us by name. My wife and I intend on returning later today to meet with the owner and his family. Prices are definitely high, but as expected since it's a locally owned bakery. A 1/2 sheet cake with some custom additions is around $150. Custom round cakes with fondant, tiering and more detail will run you $300+. The actual bakery is huge. I'd never been inside, but didn't realize there's also a ton of cafe seating, and a huge case filled with treats. I'd definitely consider again if I'm looking for a special occasion cake.
