Todd was amazing - he took incredible care of my father, who has mobility issues!! I will definitely call him again.

I needed a ride back to my house, and presumably I'd need a ride back to the mechanic in a day or two when the repairs were finished. So, as I limped my car to the mechanic and parked it there, I called Yellow Cab to call for a ride home. I figured it would be simple, call cab company, cab is sent out, get ride home. Well, the dispatcher I got was rather surly, and made it clear they don't like people just calling to get a ride. . .they very much want you to schedule your cab rides a day or two in advance. They made it clear they didn't have any cabs available right now, but they said they could get one out to me in an hour and a half. Well, I didn't have anywhere else to be, so I waited around in the sketchy part of town the mechanic was in waiting on my cab ride. Two and a half hours later (and me calling after an hour and a half and basically being told to shut up by the dispatcher and they'd get a cab out to me eventually), the cab shows up. The cab itself was a serviceable, reasonably clean yellow minivan. The rate was exorbitant. I am used to taking a cab when I travel in a big city, so I know what to expect if I'm taking a cab in, say, Washington D.C. or in New York. They managed to put New York cab fares to shame with how much they charged. The driver wasn't very personable or friendly, more like a truck driver hauling his cargo (me) from place to place. When he dropped me off at my home, I started calling around to my friends to find someone who could take me to my mechanic in a couple of days, because there was no way I was going to use Yellow Cab again unless I was truly desperate. I'll give them two stars instead of one because they actually sent out a cab when I called, and that cab took me from Point A to Point B as requested, and the cab itself wasn't unsafe or dirty. . .but there were an awful lot of issues with the entire experience that made me realize I couldn't give them more than 2 stars.

My girlfriend and I were returning my bus from Atlanta and called hours in advance to reserve a cab, which we were assured would be waiting for us at our time of arrival. Little did we know, when we pulled into that desolate station in the wee hours of the morning, that -not only would there be no such driver there to deliver our tired bodies to the home and respite we so desperately needed- but one would not arrive for another HOUR AND A HALF. Did I mention it was a *cold*, dark night? It was well below freezing, as me and my suffering lover sought shelter in the dirty elevator for nothing but relief from the relentless blades of wind that cut us to our very core. You may ask, "Why leave this review seven years later, on the Yelp page of a business that no longer exists?" A fair question. To be truthful, we'd vowed that night to leave the worst possible review of this hateful, godforsaken company, but sadly forgot and never followed through, until tonight as we celebrated nine long years together and remembered this debt we owed the good people of Kentucky. Goodbye Bluegrass Cab. I'm happy to have cursed your name with these frostbitten hands, even after all this time.

The cab I was picked up in was one of those explorer type vehicles (could have fit the government motorcade if it had all tinted windows). WHAT A STANDARD OF CHANGE FROM WHAT I THOUGHT A TAXI CAB ONCE WAS! The individual was really nice and we talked about his wife and how, we men, tend to get worn out from all the demands of life. LOL! He also told me of his upcoming "big fish" type of travel, $6k for a 3 day drop off and pick up for a customer. The taxi life is (using a gen z term to best describe this, might be out of context, but...) bussing. I even asked him how the introduction of Uber and Lyft had affected the taxi business and he stated that it led to a lot of them going out of business. He still has a stronghold because of his "loyal customer base." The only problem I have with this service is that the price is pretty steep. $4 a mile is pretty expensive. My itemized receipt: 40 for 8.8 miles (I think he rounded up) $4 for tax (when I think KY sales tax is like 6%, so somewhere around $2.20) $6 tip (I was kind of in a bind and was just glad someone could get me to work) $50 Just for comparison purposes: The vehicle I drive gets 31 mpg. If I were to drive the same distance, it would be 11/31 = 0.3549/gallons 0.3549 x 3.49 (gas price at the station I usually use) = $1.2386 IRS reimbursement rate 0.655/mile x 11 = $7.205 I would think reasonable would be around $25.
