Because of his age, he has arthritis and moves slower. Denise knows this and takes special care to be gentle with him. She always gives him the best cuts, cleans his ears and trims his nails-she even gives him cute bandanas around all of the holidays and takes a Polaroid picture that she gives you when you pick your dog up! Her prices are half of what you would pay any where else. Denise's shop is extremely clean and is decorated like a cute little cottage. The one reviewer who mentioned that their dog got fleas after being groomed there, must have already had fleas before going there. There is no way that there is even one flea in the place! Denise takes as good care of her shop, as she does the animals she grooms. I highly recommend her.

My 12 year old Silly Terrier is now dead. Hurley Dog and Cat Hospital was the third vet clinic I…read moretook her to because the other vets simply looked at her and announced she had cancer. Dr. Kala, who I believed to be a caring professional, diagnosed the mass on my dog's mammary gland immediately as a tumor. I accepted the diagnoses because I trusted Dr. Kala to be a genuine, caring vet. She quickly moved to the need to xray and run labs. She quoted me costs. She took extra xrays as I stood there and watched, claiming she saw things I did not see. She ran a full panel of labs and added in a unrelated Heartworm test. She wanted to give my dog a rabbies vaccination, as required by law she said, but I refused because with the cancer diagnosis the vaccination was in my opinion unnecessary. Dr. Kala ran the visit bill up to $540, payable at the time of service. I complied with all she suggested because she was the vet, the professional, the person who knew what to do and what she needed in order to do it. Only--the next day, Dr. Kala called me and gave me the name of a Veterinary Hospital that specialized in surgery, saying she wouldn't be the one doing the surgery. I had to look the hospital up myself and attempt to make an appointment because the hospital did not accept appointments that were not referrals from veterinarians. Dr. Kala did not say this, did not give me a referral or anything else. When I reminded her my dog was in pain, she again told me about costs: $30 for an antibiotic (although she didn't know what kind of infection my dog had, only that the blood test showed she had one), $30 for a 10 supply of pain relievers, and $30 for some other medication I cannot remember. These medications were to be obtained from her hospital, whereas if she had written a prescription I could have purchased them for less at Cosco or through Chewy. It seems to me that Dr. Kala used my dog's medical condition to legitimately pad the office visit billing. There was no need to do the labs or xrays if she would not be the one performing the surgery. The mass was huge and obvious. The suggested hospital was Blue Pearl, where through a $200 consultation visit I was told the surgery could only be possible for the fee of $3700--4700, payable up front with no guarantee my elderly dog would survive the surgery. An overnight stay at the hospital would be at the additional cost of $800. There was no mention of the costs of followup chemo should my dogs survive the surgery. Dr.Kala must have had some idea of the costs of the surgery. Neither did she mention all vets know of or have within their hospitals special funds to assist with costs. I was told they do not volunteer the information, you have to ask for it. I am disappointed that veterinary care has become simply a business. As I went through all the channels I could trying to come up with the money, my dog's tumor ruptured and she bleed for three weeks under my lay person's care because Dr. Kala would not return my emergency calls. HURLEY ANIMAL HOSPITAL ONLY CARES ABOUT MONEY!

I took my lovely pooch to Pawsatively Priceless by way of a LivingSocial deal. I made an 11 am…read moreappointment for a Saturday morning. The place was pretty easy to find, right on Van Born Rd. The area behind the counter is pretty open so you can see where your pet would be in the washing process, the drying process and the grooming process. I didn't see many crates or cages, so that was nice -- the pets are able to roam about freely before and after the groom, which probably helps with their anxiety about "grooming day" anyway. My dog is quite spoiled, so the thought of her "mom" leaving her was very taxing, I'm sure. I have a yorkie and when getting her groomed, I prefer her to have a "puppy cut". After filling out the first-time paperwork, we forgot to specify services, but I got a phone call right away to ask what kind of cut we were going for. Upon picking my dog up, she was very happy to see me and didn't look stressed out or bothered. I was told that she made friends and was a good girl :-) The cut was nice - we decided to not go FULL puppy cut because it was so cold out. They left a little length on her and gave special attention to the feet, face & fanny. Her face was left a little full, which was fine, too. She looked great and smelled fresh with a light scent. The staff was nice -- I watched them interact with other clients and I was treated nicely, as well. They also had patience and love for the pets under their care. If you are in the vicinity of Pawsatively Priceless, I highly suggest them for your dog grooming needs.

My family and I have taken our Giant Schnauzer for a couple of appointments and had no complaints…read more We noticed a growth on his right shoulder and took him in for an appointment. We were told it was a cyst, the veterinarian did use a needle to see what was inside and blood came out. The veterinarian told us if it came back to "pop it". We were given some antibacterial wipes to use for a couple days following the appointment. He had a grooming appointment shortly after and when we brought him home we noticed the "cyst" had gotten bigger. We took him to a veterinarian who has treated other dogs in our family for years. Within minutes of looking at him he told us it was not a cyst and in fact a tumor. He was scheduled for surgery the following week. When we picked him up the veterinarian told us it was likely malignant but we now have clear margins. I do NOT recommend this veterinary hospital. If we had not thought to seek a second opinion who knows what would have happened to our dog. We go to these veterinarians because we care and want the best for our animals only for him to be misdiagnosed and he's not even 2 years old yet. To any animal owners it is imperative to be their voice and seek treatment when you know something is wrong.
