We went on the Williamsburg tour and came away with a better understanding of the neighborhood,…read morelocal artisans and a new appreciation of 'hipsterville'. Dom is a great guide; knowledgable and personable with a good sense of humor. We have gone on walking and food tours previously and this is one of the best we've been on (and lowest in calorie count!). Dom focuses on the changing landscape of the neighborhood and the local manufacturing /arts movements in the area. We visited some local artisans that we NEVER would have discovered by ourselves and saw some really cool and unique items. Even though our tour only had 3 participants, Dom definitely did not skip on the tour itself as it lasted 4.5 hours. True, we ended at a local wine bar (where they grow the wine in upstate but put brooklyn artists' labels on the bottles) but it was a fantastic way to end as we were able to chat about what we saw, the neighborhood and what we saw. What made this especially so fun is that I have lived here in the NYC and Brooklyn area for more than a decade yet still learned so much about the history, the arts, architecture, bridges, about small businesses and their local products, and more from the tour! Dom did a great job of getting us thinking and answering any questions we had. He was very thorough and his information was easy to follow. Plus he had a few little treats he snuck in along the way too which was a very nice touch. Would highly recommend Dom and his tours!

Had only heard good things about this whale-watching tour and I had been trying to go for a while…read more Finally a date worked out and we got tickets the same day, so happy it worked out. The boat itself is clean and has enough room to move around while you're riding out to where you'll see sea life. The crew has clearly been doing this for a very long time and is incredibly knowledgeable. We had perfect weather and saw many dolphins and even saw some whales! It's a group activity for the whole ship to keep an eye out for some movement but it's so exciting when you do spot a whale tail pop out of the water. The whales were very active and we saw a few different ones before the ship was starting to turn back to head toward Brooklyn. As we were heading home we saw a two whale breeches so the captain turned the ship back around so we could see as much as possible. I was able to ask whatever questions I had about the whales to the crew and they always had answers. You can bring food aboard, and I believe on the lower level there is a little concession stand (I sat up top and stayed up there the whole time). Highly recommend a jacket or sweater as once you're out on open water the breeze kicks in.

Whale watching right in New York City? Of course! It's amazing to think you can do something so…read morenautical and full of marine life from one of NYC's Boroughs, but it's true as American Princess Cruises offers up whale watching adventures right out of Brooklyn. My wife and I did this just the other day and it was absolutely awesome. Truth be told, this was actually our second outing with APC as we had already had a fantastic time with them back in 2019 searching for sea mammals. Knowing my wife (girlfriend at that '19 time) loved it, I went to see if American PC was still a thing (especially after Covid times) and they most certainly are! Their boat launch location is different (now in Sheapshead Bay as opposed to Breezy Point), but it still is the same great cruise line. What makes it great? Well the boat is of reasonable size that could fit about 100 folks. It has inside and outside seating as well as a small snack bar with some simple foods to nosh on and an array of drinks (including beer and wine) to partake in. You can also bring on some basic food (we did bagels) to eat if you would like. I will say the bathrooms might leave something to be desired, but find me a small boat with a luxurious bathroom (you won't be able to). What's really most important here is the actual whale watching experience with American Princess and their crew. The APC website boasts some pretty regular whale (and dolphin) viewing and it shows as these guys know how to spot and track whales. What's nice to know is they do everything under a "Whale Sense" program that trains them to ensure all watching and following happens under proper distances and laws. Naturalist Celia explained all this and much more about whales themselves throughout our 3 hour and change trip. She was incredibly informative and pretty friendly from start to finish as she was helpful in pointing things out on the water. Other crew members (including the captain) did the same which helped in keeping us looking in the right direction. Directions like time were important (they used the "o'clock" method) because we definitely needed them to point us in the correct location. Starting early in our trip we began spotting whales. There were 3 humpbacks total that were spotted as well as a minke whale (which I had never heard of) and is apparently rarer to see. The trip was finished off with a pod of about thirty dolphins jumping and playing around our boat which was super cool. Overall, I highly recommend whale watching with American Princess Cruises. If you thought you needed to go out of Long Island in Montauk or this was some kind of Nordic European thing you could only do then you thought wrong! American Princess Cruises gives you everything you need to safely and enjoyably watch some sea mammal life right from an NYC Borough. Who knew? I did! And now you do too.

For a business that has "fun" in its title, the cashier is a lot of things but fun... hehe but fun…read more The website is maintained very nicely in the event that anyone needs to verify location hours-- but I wouldn't recommend this service. The person manning the shack carried a standoffish demeanor and wasn't very receptive to questions. We inquired about whether to pay beforehand and late policy and the host was upset to even be asked that question as though we're supposed to inherently know that we're supposed to anticipate how long we're taking the rentals for. So much for enjoying the scenery. To describe the equipment aptly-- it was shit. The mechanisms were intuitive but had poor build quality. The wheels are small, so it requires a large input of energy to at best move at a moderate pace, the driver's side chain stopped at certain intervals, so you couldn't build momentum, and one of the pedals behind the driver was slanted so far that you couldn't even pedal, leaving the ride to 3 people at most. The cart was adorned by Christmas lights but they didn't work.

My husband and I take our daughter every weekend for a bicycle ride. (We bought an annual pass so you save 50% off each rental. Once you buy the pass, the 50% off doesn't start until your next rental). Our daughter enjoys the rides each time. Some of the surrey's can be a little squeaky and noisy. (Depends on which color).
