I've been trying to get my account canceled for months (due to my work schedule, I'm unable to…read moreattend and they're closed during my off time). They claim it's no problem to cancel or freeze your account at anytime. I spoke with jay back in august and he assured me I'd receive a refund, yet I never received a refund. My account was never canceled because I "didn't fill out a form"they claim they keep sending that I'm not receiving. I've called countless times at all hours of the day never to reach the receptionist. Finally.. after a week of coordinating with them through Facebook messenger and almost a thousand wasted dollars later, my account was canceled. I don't recommend this place, it's a cash grab at best. ***Edit 1 hour later*** URSA Academy - Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu Ann Arbor (Owner) 53 minutes ago Charles, if we have an email from you with your cancellation, we'll refund any charge that took place after that. We have had an issue with our website not forwarding our emails. If you can forward those emails to this email address: ursareception@gmail.com , we'll get it taken care of for you. We've been in business far too long to be a "cash grab." I assure you, we simply haven't received anything from you. I'll personally be watching the email for your response. Thank you. ************** My response is : As stated, I never received a form from you until reaching out via Facebook (a week ago) and having it sent to my girlfriend's email address. So you HAVE in fact received a cancellation form, because I was just notified ON FACEBOOK (of all places) that they have received my cancellation and have canceled my account (days after sending it). They have also stated over Facebook messenger that you don't offer refunds, even though Jay gave me his word in august that I would receive one, but now you're telling me you do offer one. So it seems like I'm being lied to, and my situation is being swept under the rug. Bottom line - Jay was well aware of the situation in august (he was assigned to me after all) and instead of helping you just milk my account until I make a big deal about it.

I started training in Aikido at the Genyokan back in 1994. It was the greatest experience I have…read moreever had. I can't believe any bad reviews of the Genyokan because I trained under Kushida Sensei, Mrs. Kushida Sensei and Akira Sensei for many years and they all taught me how to be a better human being and learn the basics of Aikido. Unfortunately there are people who come into Aikido thinking they will learn a martial art to go use it for bad intentions, Those people will weed themselves out of any quality Aikido Dojo no matter where they are in the World. The thing about Aikido is you have to learn and understand the history and how to use it to become a better person. It is the most aerobic activity I ever did and I played basketball most of my life and Aikido made me much more healthier than any other sport or training. Many of the bad reviews I believe are from people who were looking to learn how to damage and hurt others when they should have used the experience to make themselves better human beings from the inside out. If you are thinking of training in Aikido to learn skills to hurt others you WILL FAIL. The instructors at the Genyokan will see through you and your bad intentions and most likely try and change your attitude or they will encourage you to leave because this is not a Martial Art you learn just to hurt others. If you can't figure that out then it's on YOU. I trained in every level of classes at the Genyokan and loved every minute. I made life long friends and only stopped training due to my life becoming so busy with raising children and granchildren that I no longer had the time to do anything other than work and family. I have health issues that keep me from rejoining the Genyokan and train in Aikido again but I will never forget what I learned from the Kushida family and I will always recommend training there under Akira Sensei, no matter your age or size you can gain so much helpful life knowledge by training at the Genyokan and become a much healthier human being.

The trainers at Thrive Training Facility have changed my life. When I made the decision "something…read morehad to be done", I was overweight (by 40 lbs), extremely out of shape, and desperate. I felt trapped in my own body and like there was nothing I could do to get back on track. I was ashamed and embarrassed. The thing that made me come in was reading other reviews that talked about how kind the trainers are here and what a safe space the gym is for people like me - completely inexperienced with strength training and very unfit. I work with Josie and Alexus, both of whom are EXCELLENT at what they do - true professionals and honestly fun to be around and talk to (which helps those killer sets go by in a flash). Alexus has also worked with me on nutrition and macro meal planning, which has really helped me re-learn to eat for fuel for my body, which I respect so much more now. I have never trained with Amir but he learned my name day one and always says hello and compliments my hard work. Everyone is so nice and non-judgmental... please don't hesitate to come here out of worry you 'won't fit in or aren't athletic enough'. I have been SO happy with my progress, but what is truly amazing is that this team worked with me around my very difficult schedule and helped me to improve my fitness without injury, despite me coming in overweight and unexercised for two years. High quality personal training is an investment and you can rest assured your money is well spent with the crew at Thrive. Don't wait to change your life. Stop telling yourself you can't, like I did for far too long. YES YOU CAN, and Thrive Fitness will show you how.

However, the biggest improvement I made with Amir was my outside of the gym. He helped me improve my diet, flexibility, sleep habits, and many more. We have had many great conversations to this day and I'm proud to call him a friend. One of the best phone calls I have ever made was calling Amir!
