I made an appointment on Quest Diagnostic's website, which I recommend doing, because without an…read moreappointment you will wait longer in the waiting room. Early in the morning, several patients were already waiting. Only one phlebotomist was working at this location, so she was extremely busy with patients and with processing insurance and payment. This location needs to hire another phlebotomist so that two are working together. The phlebotomist made friendly conversation with me and immediately found my vein with her needle to draw my blood. Test results are available after a couple of days.

I was looking for a convenient place to get bloodwork done downtown and this location was perfect!…read moreIf you're going from the highmark building and get confused when you see the 526 Penn Avenue but Quest Diagnostics is not there but you see an apartment complex instead, don't fret, keep walking past subway and it should be the next building. I went in around 7 AM and there were already two people ahead of me. Make sure to sign in the tablet near the reception as there will not be anyone there. The lady that attended me was very friendly and knew what she was doing. I had previously went to the Quest Diagnostics in Carnegie and the lady there had pinched a nerve which hurt my arm for months. Although it took some waiting since there was only one person doing the work, the lady was very pleasant and I got out quick.

I visited the Jefferson Brentwood Breast Center this week for a routine mammogram. It was a…read morepleasant, very clean facility with clear signage that made it easy to find my way. I was seen by wonderful imaging tech who obviously knew her stuff and moved things right along (the best mammogram techs definitely have some of the best people skills on the planet, if you ask me!). Afterward, I went downstairs to get some blood work done which had been previously ordered by my nurse practitioner. A wonderfully streamlined and nearly 100% painless process, facilitated by a pleasant and highly skilled phlebotomist. It couldn't have gone better. My only concern: at the mammogram check-in, at the front of the patient line next to mine, a prospective patient was being quizzed by a staff member. Seems that the patient was in the prep process for some sort of surgery(?). The staff member seemed quite hard of hearing and spoke incredibly loudly. Everyone in the check-in line, but also those who were in the waiting room 30 feet away, could hear every word as the staffer asked questions. Did the patient have tattoos, piercings, breast augmentations, etc. The patient answered softly and seemed mortified that her business was being broadcast so widely. I have good hearing, but I had to lean in very close to the other staff member to hear what she was telling me because her colleague was speaking so loudly. Perhaps pre-op sessions could be done in a private room(?)
