Purpose of my visit was to provide blood/urine samples for my annual physical. RECOMMENDATION to QUEST CUSTOMERS If you are going to do 'drop in' visit (no appointment) then get there super early. I've read lots of complaints about excessive waits. What do you expect if you drop in during the middle or end of the day? If you live in the SF Bay Area and you still haven't figured this out then you are part of the problem. POSITIVES My phlebotomist (Jennifer) was very polite and competent. I had no appointment so I was a 'drop in'... I was in/out in about 45 minutes. All staff were polite and communicated clearly NEGATIVES The non-human kiosk interface for sign-in is irritating. As with most "automated" systems it can only address a range of situations. If your circumstance falls outside of this range or you are not 'handy' with such interfaces (such as the elderly) you will likely have a less than optimal experience. In my case I had booked an appt for the afternoon of last Friday, but due to work situation I decided to 'drop in' much earlier in the day on Friday. When I came into the Quest office and entered my information as a 'drop in' visit (since I was much too early for my appt) the automated kiosk 'ignored' the fact that I picked 'drop in' as my visit type, and when I was done entering my information and sat down to wait I was disappointed to see my name pop up on the monitor list showing me as "1:40 p.m. APPOINTMENT". When I asked one of the staff if that mattered she said "yes it matters... we cannot see you until your appointment time." ... Uh ... that's like 6 hours from now. She informed me that I had to cancel my appointment (via the website) and re-enter my visit request as 'drop in' at the kiosk. I tried to do this on my phone which I had no luck with. Luckily I had a laptop and web access and I was able to cancel my appointment using their web based site. I then signed in at kiosk as 'drop in' (successfully this time) and was seen within 15 minutes. I AM COMPUTER SAVVY... this is not cool to expect customers to have done what I did to fix their situation. Once a customer is at the Quest office it should all be manageable via the kiosk interface. I understand that having a kiosk is a reasonable 'front line' method for patient admittance, but it is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE that no clerk is available to manage the issues/delays/frustration that the customer suffers when the kiosk method falls short. It is totally unreasonable for Quest management to expect the phlebotomists to do their job and the job of a front desk clerk. QUEST needs to stop being cheap and staff their front desk with a person who can provide aid to customers experiencing kiosk issues. This same person could then feed back the information on the kiosk shortcomings to the software company that QUEST has contracted to create their kiosk interface. I watched as a group of three elderly persons huddled around the kiosk attempting to gain admittance for their lab-work. I could hear their confusion and frustration. Incompetent staff, pricked my 6 year old twice when he was fasting. During the procedure, the manager walked in creating a ruckus and unnerving the physician. I tried to have the physician focus on my son and not pay attention to the yelling. However, the lab-technician after pricking my son a second time, walked away leaving my son without bandaging him. I had to bandage him as the staff argued. Next, the lab-technician walks in saying she needs to prick him a third time as they did not get enough blood. My son who was mild and quiet so far, refused to get pricked a third time and began crying softly. The manager, without an ounce of empathy, had him wait outside in the reception. We walked away without having the test completed. Such incompetent staff and management needs to be revised. Manager cannot come in creating a ruckus unnerving staff while they are with patients and then act frustrated if a child starts crying after the ruckus she created. Whatever the matter, good vibes and patience always makes a work environment easier for everyone. The manager can't manage herself, let alone a diagnostic centre. read more

I have been here numerous times with my dad to get his labs drawn. We used to go to other location but this has been our fav. It's pretty less swamped than other location. Staffs are more friendly and wait times are usually shorter than other location. They take reservation as well as walk ins are welcome. Appointments have priority over the walk ins. There is a online checkin right at the entrance and the staff will assist you accordingly. Trisha the phlebotomist who was attending the clients are front dress was hilarious, super friendly and considerate. The waiting time went just in blink. Only set back of this place is that it opens until 1 pm. Everything is prompt here I would not hesitate to come even if it's in early morning. read more

Went for my regular annual health screening this morning, appointment was scheduled through the company portal. The appointment was at 9:45, I was there at 9:30. Lady at the front desk called my name at 10 and she said I just have your appointment but there is no order I don't know what to test. I had no idea what the order meant because this is scheduled through the company portal and when I asked her what that is ...she started raising her voice and said I can't do anything, you don't have the order. Another lady told her maybe she should call the helpdesk and she said - let her call the helpdesk I cant see her order. She said to call the helpdesk and resolve it and come in as a walk-in. I wasn't sure why had to come in as a walk-in when I already had an appointment. I called the helpdesk and waited for 10 mins now picked up. When I clicked on the more info section it had the order info and I went in to show her. That lady ignored me and I showed it to someone else. She asked me to wait. When I showed her the order she said we can't find it. I said the information is here can you not use ... she is like no you have to print it. We can enter it into the system. So i asked if i print it how will you enter it into the system. She is like no you call the helpdesk we cannot take you in. I called the helpdesk and they said there is no issue with the appointment. So - in the end, it was a complete waste of time and dealing with the rude front desk folks. I will never go there again read more

I have visited this lab for annual blood tests over few years. The technicians are usually very good, even the front desk us good. This time the lady who drew my blood was also nice and funny. I am giving low stars for the front desk staff that day (06/29) and the lack of awareness of online registration. Are they even aware that there is such thing as online registration and checkin ??? Btw Jake had same experience with online registration a year ago. See his 1star review posted in May 2020 for same issue. So this procees is not fixed for more than a year. Hope Quest labs can explain this. I had registered online the night before. I had appointment at 9 am. I reached there couple min before 9. That morning I got text to checkin when I reach the lab, which I did. When I got inside, I mentioned this to front desk asian woman. I told her I have checkedin online and my appointment was at 9 am. She was dismissive and told me to wait, since it was 3-4 mins before 9. Had she checked my name , it could have been figured out. But they seem to like to dismiss customers. My name was not called till 9:30, so I went and asked about it. I tried to tell them I had checkedin from phone, as they were asking me to check-in from the tablet at entrance. Shows ignorance of their own company website or shows lack of process. The front desk lady and one senior lab tech were laughing at me, when I said I checkedin online last night. I get it, checkin was done that morning, they could have noted that I could have 'registered' the night before. There laughing really pissed me off. Anyway I had to fill a paper form ! It was my first visit here, on a Saturday morning without an appointment. Having read previous reviews, I did not want to wait for long. So reached there at 6:30am sharp and there were about 15 ppl in line already. 6:30am walked in and was in line to check in from kiosk 6:40am kiosk check in completed and was seated for my turn 7am front desk called my name to collect doctor order form and insurance details 7:15am called in by the lab technician, since I was first time patient - they did not have my records, she had to put in all the details. Once she put in my insurance details, it prompted how much the insurance covered and how much i would have to pay out of my pocket, but before she could swipe my card the application crashed. The head person confirmed it was fine and if I owe anything I would get a bill and there was nothing to worry about or redo entire process. They were calm and collected my blood and I was done by 7:30am There is a tv in waiting area, which displays your name when you check in and I assume it is supposed to display the wait time next to it, but did not work as intended instead it just kept showing 3min for all the checked in patients. The people are friendly and do their task quickly! Considering I was walk-in, without an appointment, 1 hour was pretty decent. read more

I took my mom who can't speak English to Quest Lab on Liberty Str. in Fremont early Saturday morning. We registered on Quest Lab site which allowed us to schedule an appointment ahead of time and check-in on cell phone on arrival (no need to register at their kiosk/console in the lobby). We arrived 5 minutes earlier of our scheduled appointment and were called for blood draw within a minute (amazing!). FYI: there were 4 people waiting at the time of our arrival. We had an amazingly caring and professional phlebotomist. She was thoughtful to use a smaller needle for my mom's small veins and my mom said she didn't feel any pain. The phlebotomist was also paying attention to details and double checking patient name/etc. in records and on test bottles with me. Overall, we had great experience. I think registering on the Quest's site and scheduling appointments are very helpful. My suggestions for improvement to the Lab: 1. Have somebody available to answer questions for people arriving in the lobby: I think those who are not used to the system and/or unable to use all technological advances would appreciate help there (during our visit, there was no one to ask questions). 2. Demonstrate hand hygiene by making sure patients can see phlebotomist's hand cleaning prior to putting gloves on for drawing blood. read more

I went here for my companys annual Biometric screening. A lot of people were in the waiting room, but they were walkins; fortunately I had an appointment. I only had to wait five minutes until I was called in. Blood pressure, weight, waist size measurement and blood draw all took less than ten minutes, and the guy doing the screening was knowledgeable, explaining what each test was for. The woman at the check in counter was extra nice too. The needle jab into my arm was almost painless, with no brusing tht sometimes happens. First time I came here was during the morning of last Friday & it was pretty packed in the waiting room. Without an appointment, the wait would be too long, an I had to be on time back at work. So I left. I returned back on Thursday late morning about 11am to find a way less crowded waiting room. Without an appt, I think within 30mins or even a but less I got called. I'm super scared of needles in which I informed the nurse. She was really friendly & sweet. I don't really remember her name..I think it was Kelly. I took my 18 months old son to this place to get blood tests. They drew three tubes of blood to perform three different tests. It turned out to be one test was done incorrectly and the other test was not perfomed becase supposedly the specimen received was "clogged". They wasted two tubes of my son's blood. My son is so little and fragile and they just wasted his blood like nothing. How can they be so irresponsible and careless to children? When we were there, my little son and I waited almost an hour past the appointment time beore we were called. However, first they claimed they couldn't find our records but seconds later, they found it！And they kept denying about performing the incorrect test until I proved them wrong by comparing to the doctor's order. I made an effort to go at 6am and pre-registered online the night before. After waiting for 35 minutes, I was given a signing sheet to fill up asking for the same information when I pre-registered. I was then asked to wait again for 15 minutes before I was seen. Terrible system. Totally unacceptable. Never again. Lab Corp it is. read more

This place is awful. I've gone several time and each time has been an ordeal. I wouldn't go here if my doctor used another laboratory for blood to be drawn. The bathrooms is disgusting. I wished I had taken a picture, the next time I go I will. The soap dispenser is a pump disconnected and put to the side of the sink which is disgusting during this period in covid and it's not like anyone is cleaning the pump or bathroom. I refused to give a Urine sample in that bathroom, not only was their urine all over the seat and on the floor with urine soaked paper towels on the floor, their toilet paper dispenser was dirty with looked like feces. I couldn't get out of the there fast enough. The second time around I made an early appointment hoping that things would be better earlier in the day but after an hour wait and having to touch the registering keypad that looked like no one had cleaned that whole week, much less that day, I left. If I could give less stars I would. I am greatly disappointed as someone who is recovering from heart surgery, that a laboratory would have their offices running this way with no regards for cleanliness or their clientele safety during a period of a dangerous pandemic. Much improved. No wait, sparkling clean facility, and very pleasant front office staff. As phlebotomists go, Kelly F. is a total rockstar. Soft spoken, which is calming for those who are super needle shy. Super informative. Confident. And she has got "The Touch". You know, the one that you won't feel. I have tiny veins that are a pain to find. I've had phlebos dig around to try to hit one. Kelly got mine with the butterfly (a must for the vein-challenged) on the first try, and changed the vacuutainers with ease - neither of which I felt. The website says to go in early if you have a compromised immune system so I went at 6:15am and it was already full which is ok but there were absolutely no precautions for people with a compromised immune system. You have to check-in using a touch screen. I asked the ladies if there was another way to check in without using the touch screen because I have a compromised immune system, they said no and eventually one said I could have gloves. I asked if I could wait outside for my turn and they said yes and gave me a buzzer that wasn't sanitized...There were no wipes anywhere either. Not good at all. read more

Make an appointment, come in at 6:00am sharp on a weekday, sign in on the iPad kiosk, get poked, and leave by 6:15am. Staff is professional and the entire process is super efficient when you follow this rule. Don't try and show up in the middle of the day or weekend as a walk-in: you will wait for hours. Billing was straightforward and my test results were quickly sent to my doctor within a few days. Can't really ask for much more. read more

SEQUOIA & DONNA WERE AMAZING!!! Beyond five stars experience with them. I had to wait more then a hour because I didn't have an appointment. The first older Indian lady to poke really bruised Me up. I was super nervous because my veins are super hard to find I got poked twice in one arm then DONNA came and tried this was the last try & she got it so easily! Juliana was amazing. I'm really bad with needles. She listened to me, had my lie down so I wouldn't pass out, let me take my time, only go me ready when I was ready, and has a very, very steady hand! She talked to me before and during to help distract me. She's very good at taking care of patients. Front desk was great too. My first time here, with an appointment. I also had to take a urine test and the front desk lady was discreet but clear about instructions so others in the waiting room wouldn't hear. read more

I scheduled an appointment to come in and get a breath test. I had to fast for 12 hours take time off work to get to this place. I had to wait and extra 15 min to see somebody to finally have a doctor say we don't have the breath test available. I'm mind blown o asked for how long he said for awhile now. I had to confirm with another person there cause this was crazy, she confirmed, she said no locations near by have it. I'm like how did you schedule this appointment with me and even if the lady scheduling the appointment made a mistake, you sent me confirmation texts and emails, why wouldn't you call or text me you're not offering this. I had my best blood test experience here! Highly recommend coming here if you've had a bad experience before like me and are very scared of needles and blood tests. I had an appointment at 10:30am and came a little late (oops), but I signed into the machine and was called in 1 minute later! Facility was simple, nice and clean. Sequoia helped me out today and SHE IS THE BEST!!! I told her about my past experience and she was super understanding. She's very experienced and on top of that, has a super gentle and sweet personality! Exactly what I needed, and it actually went by quickly! First time for me at this location as I wasn't impressed one way or another at previous locations, and it couldn't have gone smoother or quicker. The staff were courteous and considerate, and the technician who drew my blood was excellent. Set an appointment online for 12:30pm; arrived at 12:25pm and was back in my car heading to lunch by 12:42pm, no problems, simple in-and-out. I am conflicted on reviewing this location. Tip: make an appointment. If you make an appointment, you will be in and out of there in in about 45 minutes. The techs are pleasant and it was painless.. The problem is if don't have an appointment or just need to drop off a specimen. Don't go there if you don't have an appointment.. If you do, plan on being there for a few hours. Now this is important, you should also make an appointment to just drop off a specimen, which is basically you just handing it over to the receptionist, right? You would be wrong. Without an appointment, the wait is 45 minutes or more. Just to hand it to the receptionist....Totally unacceptable. read more

I have to have blood work done every three months and the last two times I had blood drawn by technicians that don't know what they're doing they entered my arms severely both times. I wouldn't choose this place other than the fact I don't have any other choice I will start looking somewhere else to get my blood drawn always new faces here I would imagine it's because they don't pay them very much. read more

It was a walk in ! Ok so you got to be patient if your a walk in but I saw people who had appointment called in within 5 mins of their arrival . Impressive ! We called them to see if we can come over without an appointment and they were very friendly and also knew what they do were doing . Front desk was a funny lady . She made conversation with everyone who came to her and she was not in a hurry to push away our questions to get back to her work . The lady who took the blood was friendly and very gentle . I would recommend this particular Quest location highly. Can't say that I would recommend most Quest Diagnostics so highly. Most Quests that have been reviewed on Yelp get terrible reviews. And they are kind of scary. This was my daughter's 2nd time having blood drawn--and her first was quite traumatic. So I was really intent on her getting a positive experience this time around. Reading all the reviews of Quests around in me in Oakland, San Leandro, Alameda were so negative and based on Quests that I have been to, I was ready to call her doctor and request a different Lab. Luckily I found a 4 star review for this Quest on Liberty in Fremont. Yes 30 minutes away. But all the reviews were so positive. So we drove all that way. And were so pleased. Check in was super easy via a link sent to my phone; the receptionist was pleasant; the waiting area was pleasant, not crowded and chairs spaced well apart. The phlebotomist was excellent. My daughter said it was virtually painless and was surprised when it was over. Was it worth it to drive 30 minutes each way? Absolutely! read more

Wow - what a difference! No waiting, taken in at exactly my appointment time. The phlebotomist was really good - an absolutely "no-pain" stick - and I walked out of there smiling. I know that they take walk-ins but I'm sure that appointments have priority and it's super easy to make an appointment via the internet. It's well worth doing if you can. It seems that fewer people know about this location (compared to the crowded waiting rooms at the other two locations in Fremont). *Note on the location: street address is on Liberty but Quest Diagnostics is at the far left end of this business complex and actually faces on Beacon St. If you're driving on Beacon to get there, look for the Quest sign just before you get to Liberty and you can turn in on a driveway right in front of their office. Wow...My primary physician set-up and placed a blood draw via video chat. I arrived for my appointment and the receptionist didn't have my order information when I checked in. I showed her my doctor's test order information including the order#, Quest code, etc, but she refused to follow up and research further, thus missing my appointment. The key issue from her point of view is I didn't have physical paperwork RE my blood draw order on hand and wouldn't even look at my order information from my Stanford Healthcare app; clearly showing everything I needed. I offered to forward via email, but she refused. It appeared she was having a bad day, didn't care or perhaps this Quest location really needs physical paperwork. Isn't it 2021 and is this location that myopic where they don't consider most people in this area do everything online, app based, and virtual? Super disappointing experience and wouldn't recommend this location. read more

This location gets 4 stars because here at least they were quick and efficient. The lab tech was kind and patient with my son. But the receptionist was just like a robot saying to everyone check in on the computer, no hi no how are you, nada! Tips: go early and during the week. Quest diagnostic is a nightmare on a Saturday.
