Recently my neurologist ordered a series of tests that could be performed by either LabCorp or Quest. Having had some major and very difficult billing issues with LabCorp in the past, I submitted the orders to Quest. I was able to schedule a blood draw within two days of my request and found the Quest Diagnostics facility embedded in the Safeway market in Alexandria, on King Street - very convenient. This was a heavy-duty set of orders - more than a dozen tests. I was able to use Quest's on-line check-in protocol the day before I visited the facility. Upon completing that process online, I printed out the QR code that was issued once I completed the check-in. I arrived about 20 minutes early for my blood draw, and scanned the QR code. Within minutes, actually as soon as I sat down in the waiting room, I was called in for the draw, even though I arrived a few minutes early. The two staff members carefully studied the set of orders, and checked, and then rechecked, that the draw would comply with my doctor's orders. The phlebotomist did a great job drawing my blood, and despite the complexity of the orders, I was out of the facility within 15 minutes. Question has multiple locations in my county:. If I just need a fasting blood draw, they try to coordinate with my various doctors. They try to get the orders of you don't have a copy, and wait times are minimal. I do wish they had later close times. read more

In the Safeway near the pharmacy. Went in for a fasting lipid test as a walk in. Waited about 20 minutes on a weekday. Well lit and lots of spare places to sit while you wait. Staff are quick & courteous, and my test was done very quickly. The scheduling system was a bit disappointing, as it would have been four days until I could get an appointment. And while others came in with appointments, for simple tests - walk ins should be quick and easily done for most simple tests like my blood test. read more

Yeah I'll give these guys five stars. I've been here a few times for routine bloodwork and the staff is super competent and helpful. Please keep in mind they're phlebotomists and there to draw blood in a safe, comfortable way. They can't always help what your doctor or hospital has or hasn't sent in the way of orders etc. Only so much they can do from an admin standpoint so cut them some slack. Located in the back of the Safeway, this Quest Diagnostics was really easy to get to. There was free garage parking and you follow the frozen food section to their office. Both of the women working were super polite and nice for 7am. While there's bad reviews here from the past, I'd bet it's not about the employees working there now. They were quick and had me in and out in just a few minutes. I made an appointment online, checked in at the kiosk upon entering and was taken right back. Getting blood drawn is not fun especially when dealing with insurance and all of the necessary paperwork but the employees at this location took care to make me feel welcomed and to get me back to my day as quickly as possible. This place was so behind and had a mismanaged staff. I had an appointment at 11AM and checked in at 10:35AM to allow the "time necessary for check in." Then to find out that people with appointments have been waiting for over 40mins and haven't been seen. If you can't handle appointments, don't allow them to be scheduled. People take time off for these and you're supposed to be a business that is just as "respectful" as those who made the appointments. What a lack of consideration. extremely rude technicians at the Arlington Location. I had been going to this Quest for routine bloodwork. Quest was suppose to bill my insurance and they never sent anything to my insurance but yet they demanded payment when i arrived. NEVER go here the billing dept will bill you $600 for a $3. blood test. A scam if i ever saw one. For over a year i had to fight with the monkeys in billing. No one ids accountable and they just blame everyone else without fixing their own incompetent employees. Quest doesn't care and their quality of professionalism just plain suck. read more

When I tried to pay my bill online they insisted on installing an extension in my Firefox browser. I refused of course and they wouldn't let me continue. I had to call them up and wait 15 minutes to get through to someone who could accept payment. read more

I've been here twice in the last few months and had a seamless experience each time. I was seen almost immediately after checking in (I did have an appointment both times); the testing itself was quick and efficient; and the lab techs were very pleasant. I came for a blood test. Made an appointment beforehand online. My appointment was at 7 am, there was only one technician there. Very quick electronic check in. I was called in right away. She measured my temperature , very quickly found my doctor's referral in the system, printed the tags and asked me to check whether my Infor was correct ( I especially appreciate it as I did have tests in other places that didn't do it). I have very thin veins, she found without problems and got it from the first attempt. I was in and out of this place in literally 5 minutes. I was using a different lab company in downtown DC before and had terrible experience. Glad I went back to Quest lab at King Str location. Clean, safe, efficient. read more

I went as a walk-in because online it said there were no avail appointments for that day and my dr wanted the bloodwork done. To my surprise I was seen right away and the blood test was painless, I barely felt it. I was finished within 10 min. I don't understand all the negative reviews here. It's really the little things that can help people. Blossom helped me today at Quest. It's in the actual Safeway grocery store. I had a little trouble finding it, but it's pretty convenient if you want to multi-task. Anyway, my order got lost. She helped me to get it to her and actually waited longer than she had to. Horrible experience. If only I could give zero stars! The lab techs are nice but this is the worst place to go if you want your test results posted to your myquest website in a somewhat timely fashion. I am still waiting for lab results of basic CBC test results that were taken over two weeks ago. I've sent two separate emails requesting these results and silence, no response. I will not use Quest Diagnostics again and I've told my doctors the same. Any future orders will be going to LabCorp whom I've had a much better experience. read more

I had a great experience here. Signed in and within 10 minutes was called back. There were two techs there, Blossom and another lady. My doctors office told me that Blossom was great, but the new lady, whose name I can't remember (started with a U) was awesome. I have spider veins and it's always an issue getting blood from them She did it on her first try and was great. Super sweet and professional. Wish I remembered her name. Love that it is inside a grocery store because it helps get more than one errand completed at the same place. That being said I almost gave up trying to find it because I didn't know it was inside the grocery store. More visible signage would be very helpful. Amazing location inside the Safeway! Clean and updated. There was no wait- but they also have the option of getting a pager so you can go grocery shopping and get a page when they're ready. Plus, they have convenient hours and are open on weekends as well. Plenty of free parking. Ronald was professional and made the process painless. I highly recommended this lab. read more

I experienced terrible customer service at the Quest inside the Alexandria Safeway today! I walked in to an empty waiting room at 11:55, the two techs argued with each other in front of me about who was going to do my blood draw, then he was on his phone, and then once I was in the chair I realized I didn't have the right orders, I said oh accidentally left them in my car I can run out and grab them. by this time it was 11:58 (I checked my phone), he said sorry we lock our doors from 12-1pm. Had a really bad experience today when I had simple bloodwork done. The phlebotomist was distracted and on the phone when she did my bloodwork and seemed to be rushing me along. She jabbed me with the needle and then pulled the needle across my arm when she removed it. The bruise keeps growing larger and my arm is swollen. I would not recommend this location. This was my worst experience with bloodwork ever. read more

I had a blood test today in the Quest located in the Safeway store in Alexandra. Chara was so skillful that I could not even feel the needle go in. When I was ready to leave, I could not find my insurance cards. I emptied my purse and checked my pants pocket. Chars was so patient. We looked together until she pointed out that I had a shirt pocket. I had completely forgotten. She is both the most capable and the kindest person I have ever found in a lab, and I have been to many. read more

I am shocked at the 5 star reviews - that is the whole reason I went there but now I feel misled! The phebotomist was sullen and unfriendly to the point of being rude, she didn't greet me, respond to me, or say anything beyond one word answers to anything I said. I was trying to be friendly and joking around and she was not having it at all!! Not only that, she was ROUGH with me (after my jokingly asking her to be gentle, and her not responding of course), poked around and just stuck me without a warning or kind word like people usually do. Worst of all she hit a blood vessel or something because now I have a 3" x 1" BLACK bruise on my arm, what the hell did she do to me?? I've had blood drawn a fair number of times and this has literally never happened to me before. I came to this location because of the 5 star reviews - never again! The technicians need to get it together. I had blood work done on 12/3/2021 and sent home with a urine sample container. The technician advised me that I could simply drop the container off during their business hours. When I went to drop the container off on 12/4/2021 a different technician refused my sample and told me I need to make an appointment. Like I said get it together. People don't have time for this level of meanness. Seriously how hard would it have been to simply be nice and take the container!?!? Why would anyone need an appointment to drop off a container!?! FOUND the new location (Safeway at King St. & Quaker Ln.) after first going to the old Duke St. location. Took a while to sort out, for me. Not their fault -- my doc had the old address. Once I got to the Safeway and found Quest (along the back wall, next to the pharmacy), there were only a couple in the waiting room. One lady, waiting for a blood test, was in deep conversation on her cell phone, and not ready to proceed. The admin person took me within a minute of my arrival. Processing was easy. I have a problem with veins that are hard to find, and have just had an unsuccessful experience at a local hospital where the technician was unable, after six efforts to find a vein. He tried on both arms and one hand. We both agreed it was time to stop. The Quest technician was terrific. She looked at both arms, made her selection, and with the first stick, was successful. I don't like giving blood, but she made it as quick and painless as possible. I would be glad to return when next needed. read more

Horrible. Terrible. Disgusting. Abominable. The worst. Avoid. Who do I fault? The investors and business mangers and their obvious gross greed and complete disregard for customers. How can it be fixed? Hire responsible, professional customer svc reps. I phoned 571-431-6109 in Dec 2021 on a Tuesday afternoon. There is No way to get to a human being. The voice recording begins with a very harsh sound male voice. The options are limited. Did I mention NO way to get to cust. svc. I opted to make an appointment using the automated system b/c there is NO other choice. The voice asks you to choose 1 of 4 tests. I am not having any of those 4 tests. So there is no way to make an appointment. The voice just keeps looping and looping. US healthcare is in the sxx$3%*. But those of us still lucky enough to have a job get hundreds dollars withheld from our paycheck to pay these parasites. They get pre-paid. We have no choice to pay for horrible service or NO service. The voice mail says appoint get 1st preference. Drop-ins may not be served. I will have to drive there to make an appointment. I just wanted to say Rosie and Ron, and I think his name was John, have been wonderful. I have been in multiple times and have different people each visit. I have recently had my blood drawn nearly once a week, with lots of folks, in several different places and love when I'm given my orders so I can pick my location. I hate having my blood taken but have had mostly good experiences here. There is an employee or two that could find a new profession but if you get one of the folks mentioned consider yourself in great hands. Super clean and longest I've waited is 5 min. Rosie is great! My veins are "difficult" and the phlebotomist at my doctor's office cannot do a blood draw on me, leaving me to find another lab on my own to get my blood work done.
