I'm really digging Pilgrim Coffee's new pastry nook, firstly because it's super close to my house, secondly because that's a guaranteed good coffee (I'm obsessed with that Perfect size), and thirdly because pastry.
Queens isn't really a dine in kinda place--it's not a cafe. There are some benches built into the tiled walls (tiles fo' days) and there's a long picnic table outside, but it's clear they'd prefer you to grab your snacks and get the heck out. I'm fine with doing this, as Queens has quickly become my "treat yo'self" stop around once a week on my way to work. What do I recommend? Everything, really. My go-to favourite is the ham and cheese croissant, with the ham and cheese baked into it so you can easily grab it and go! It's always best to hit Queens up not long after a bake so the crossy is still warm when you scarf it down. Yum.
Because Queens is a part of the Pilgrim empire, you can use the one loyalty card to collect stamps here as well as Pilgrim and Bright Eyes. Some of the Pilgrim and Bright Eyes treats may look familiar to Queens customers, because most of the baking is done up at Queens now. Clever. read more
