My doctor referred me for an echocardiogram. Getting the ol' ticker checked out--mapped, actually.
Staff was professional and efficient, so much so that the whole experience was comforting and pleasant, from the waiting room onward--with its beautiful art, educational displays re: the heart, and various types of literature (from medical to the latest gossip rags; I chose the foodie magazines, natch). A nice feeling; I sensed the mostly elderly and middle-aged local patients in the reception room were reassured. Something you want, when undergoing this kind of stressful test.
The official cardiologist here, I was told, is Dr. Anne Kemble--I believe she's next door at Queen's Heart Physician's Practice in POB III (Room 601). I dealt with the radiology tech and the staff only.
Local Asian female radiology tech was similarly comforting, capably treading that delicate line between personal and professional. While the test began, she was chatty, but not in an inappropriate or tiring way; rather, more to establish a type of bedside manner for my first cardio ultrasound. You wanna feel safe and trusting of the person waving a cold, slimy, wet wand all over your chi-chis. So she made me forget what was going on and simply RELAX.
When this bond was established, she grew more quiet, then focused on taking those digital photos and videos of the inside of my most important of organs. That vital machine part, the metaphorical seat of feeling and spirit and blood circulation.
Not my favorite kind of experience, but made calming and bearable by such excellent staff. read more
