I've been coming to the Kuakini Medical Plaza for decades! Up to recently, majority of my doctors…read morewere at Kuakini. It started from Central Medical Clinic! I was a patient of Central Medical Clinic all my life until recently from when they started at the Kaheka Professional Center before moving to Kuakini Medical Plaza! I eventually left with the doctors recently when it was sold to Adventist Health Castle. My former Primary PCP doctor in the past would referred me to other specialists within the same building to make it easier for us. Eventually most of my doctors in the building just so happened to retired around the same time! It's a sad reminder that I'm getting old and as we aged, the more doctors we see! These doctors must be way over the retirement age since I'm near that retirement age. My two siblings' doctors are still with Central Medical Clinic and are in their mid to late 80s! Two of my just retired doctors, owned their own practices and office space, so when they decided to retire, they are trying to sell their practice/office space. -I still have a couple doctors at Kuakini and I decided to go back to Central Medical Clinic for my mom's PCP. I convinced my mom the walk from the parking lot to the office is much shorter since she struggles walking long distance. I'll tell you why I like Kuakini Medical Plaza! The parking makes the difference! Parking on the Plaza (not the 2nd tower side) is so much easier to park. Diagonal parking (with double lines I think) and the drive up is either the odd or even floor levels and you exit on the different floor levels. Just that the parking lot floor numbers doesn't match with the same floors of the building and it can be confusing at first. For the handicap patients, they can be dropped off in front of the Kuakini Medical Plaza. The walk to the office from the parking lot is so much closer than the walk from Kapiolani, Straub, or Queens' parking lot to the doctors' office. That was one of the deciding factors to return to a doctor at Kuakini! There are connecting floors from the parking structure to the building. The 2nd and 3rd floors of the Plaza are connected to the parking structure 3rd floor & 4th floor of the parking structure. The parking lot level that leads to the 3rd floor of the building, has some stairs. Once in the building, you can now catch the elevator to the floor of your doctor's office. There's a directory on that 1st level , 2nd floor and I believe the 3rd floor. Oh, there's another elevator on the top corner side of the parking structure that can be used to go to the hospital side now after Covid. it's not for the elevator to use to enter the Kuakini Medical Plaza unless you get off at ground level and walk over. The basement level comes down near the former gift shop. I use it to go to the imaging at the Hospital since there's no imaging place in the Kuakini Medical Plaza on the first level anymore. The Pharmacy, Diagnostic Laboratory, snack shop, & bathrooms, are still there on the ground level of the Kuakini Medical Plaza. Nice thing to know that the bathrooms in the building are open and no need to get a key to use the bathroom which is nice! *Note, Kuakini just recently installed a new parking paid system. You can pay through the metropolitan app on your phone but I rather pay at the booth. Central Medicai Clinic gives a discounted parking slip and theirs was $1 off. Validation varies on each doctor's office. There is someone at exit booth to help with collection of payment, applying the discount and if you need a receipt, but it's upon request. I asked how do one pay on the app with the doctor's paper discount. She said to scan the QR code at the doctor's office which includes the discount and not the QR code in the parking lot. The nice thing is the parking is free for the 1st hour!

Medical care in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. I used to visit this building when my doctor was here. I switched Physicians, but I still come here when I bring my mom to her appointments. Kuakini Medical Plaza is right next door to Kuakini Medical Center, where the hospital is. There's a convenient lab on the ground floor. Parking is free for the first hour! This is great because mom's doctor is quick! (My former physician ran late most of the time and talked a lot, so I usually had to pay... uhg!) The only downside is the confusing way that the parking structure connects to the building. We usually park on the Third Level, but it connects to the Second Floor, which is Central Medical Clinic. Just remember that the Parking Level is not the same number as the connecting floor number - and that only parking levels 3 and 4 connect to the building... LOL! Good luck!

But this time was different when we're back for our fourth baby. While admitted at The Queen's Medical Center for the birth of our fourth baby, my husband used the hospital valet service on 5/13/2026 at around 11:30 AM as I was going into active labor. Our vehicle remained in valet custody overnight. The following day, Thursday on March 14, 2026, around 11:00 AM, my husband retrieved the vehicle to run errands and discovered that the inside of our van had clearly been rummaged through. Cash and other small personal items were missing. A report was immediately made to hospital security, and a statement was taken. While the amount stolen may be considered minor, the violation of privacy and trust during such a vulnerable and important family moment is extremely upsetting. We understand valuables should never be left in vehicles, but patients and families should still be able to expect professionalism, honesty, and security from a hospital valet service -- especially during overnight stays connected to medical care and childbirth. We hope management takes this matter seriously and properly investigates the incident.

This is a very interesting place. It turns out it is run by a Coven of Witches (Satanic Worshippers…read morewho practice Black Magic). They sometimes blend business with pleasure. I, for one know because I am a person of interest to them and not for medical reasons whatsoever. In fact they weaponize their medical degrees to get access to patients like me for their religious reasons. Queen's Medical Center is built on a place with the Hawaiian name of Puawaina. It means "Hill of Sacrifice." It is because they used to sacrifice humans there hundreds of years ago and that is where their bones still remain. Nice! The doctors there made it hard for me to leave that network behind and they are still calling me trying to lure me into the hospital. For what I wonder? Not going to find out. I would suggest getting your care elsewhere. Where they abide by the Hippocratic Oath for starters.

I was told I was being admitted into the hospital soon after I arrived in the ER room. I was still waiting for a general check up to be made. I opined that I think you have the wrong person. No labs were done on me yet! I was checked by a doctor and a medical student. My name and birth date were verified. I thought what on earth is going on. I was just about to be wheeled out of the room when a nurse came running in and asked the doctor and medical student to go outside! They both left me! No explanation. How odd I thought to myself. Later, it was explained to me that they had the wrong person! Yowzaa! So while I waited for tests, a medical technician came into my room and proceeded to explain I needed this special test to be done on me. I thought that was odd since I was still awaiting other basic tests. The technician verified my name and date of birth before proceeding with the specific procedure. So I went along with it. About 15-20 minutes during this procedure, a nurse came running into the room and told the technician to immediately stop the procedure! I was plugged into all sorts of things! I asked what is going on as the technician said she needed to finished the procedure. The nurse said I wasn't the person who was supposed to get this procedure done on!! Okay, this is the second time while I was in the ER room that they got the wrong person! The technician even opined that I hope I'm not billed for this procedure. Well at this point I felt very unsafe. I kept thinking that I was very fortunate to have been awake and not unconscious upon my entry into the ER. I asked the nurse to be sure to write this up in a report so that I would not be billed for the procedure and about what occurred today. I also double checked with staff that everything else that was done to me thereafter in the ER was for actually for me and not another patient! Can you blame me? The ER doctor later confirmed the mixup between patients. There's more detail that I'm leaving out in this review for privacy reasons. But I definitely will be checking what I am billed for by Kuakini Medical Center. I was subsequently released from the ER the same day.

Last year in April of 2024 I sought help for some pain I was experiencing, I went and listened to Dr. Son explaining in detail of of what he hoped to accomplish with me and my challenging problems. I paid a whopping $12200 out of pocket for my upper back are ($1500), right knee ($1500), and my upper arms at ($1500). My lower back at $6750.00. The figures are as best that I can remember. Treatment consisted of taking huge 350 vials of blood and spinning them centrifugally and inserting them back into my body. Sometimes it was one or two, and sometimes 3. I got extremely dizzy after this and sometimes had to wait awhile until my body recovered until I felt better. There was one incident that I recall where they reinjected stem cells into my lower back and that was excruciating. I cried out in pain. During these visits sometimes it was done by Dr. Son (who is not an MD) but a chiropractor. There were two visits that I met a Dr. Charles Arakaki and the next time there was a doctor named Dr. Carlos Fernandez. Funny that I never saw them again. ALL OF THE TREATMENTS DID NOT WORK, I COMPLETED THE EXERCISES TO A T AND ALL FAILED!! At that point I stopped going, no sense in wasting my time as well as endure more pain. I went to my regular pain doctor and he immediately scheduled a procedure for me for the next day and I have been pain free for about 3 1/2 weeks. I later e mailed Dr. Son asking for my money back. He called me yesterday and said that he was unable to do so because of the paperwork that I signed. He went on and on to say that he complied with the intent of the scope of the immediate paperwork and could not refund me. I feel TAKEN advantage of. I am soon to be 74 years of age, gave him a big chunk of my money with NO PROMISED RESULTS. If anyone here who has had a similar issue with NexGen maybe we can all ge together and file a class action lawsuit. Hit me up and we'll discuss.

So the issue with the elevator has not been fixed for about a year and a half. My mom definitely can't walk up the stairs to the 4th floor. So she can't go to her appointments since January 2024. My mom is elderly and with some eye issues, so I would want her to see the ophthalmologist on regular bases. I'm sure people change eye doctors since they need to have their eye checks for glasses and need to use the elevators. My mom likes Dr Choi and said she said she doesn't need new glasses. (Actually she does but we will wait) I called and inquired if the elevator was fixed or if they have an office on the 1st floor. Just so happened they opened a 1st floor office for those who can't walk upstairs about a couple of months ago! If you need glasses they don't have the machine on the 1st floor to check on her prescription downstairs. I'm glad they made the change for now, since I heard they own the building! I heard the Elevator will finally be fixed in late September 2025 and by the time my mom plans to return in six months, the elevator should be fixed! I'm glad they do have parking but I couldn't believe as I was leaving to pick up my mom outside, 3 cars were trying to come into the parking basement. Parking is available on this busy area though it's not free depending on where you go thankfully I got my validation and it's on the first floor as the elevator doesn't work as well and being unfamiliar just walked up the ramp to get to the lobby area as a gentleman asked how to get up without the elevator sadly I couldn't help him as it was my first time here as well. Staff also belittled family when they visited, saying if he had this many visitors, they could care for him at home. Grandpa came in for shirt term rehab, who is staffing to judge a patient/ resident for why they are there. They should be providing compassionate care, but this was not the case. This facility also lacks clear and closed loop communication between nursing, social work, and family members. They tried to unsafely discharge grandpa back home due to "insurance" without ever having an interdisciplinary care plan meeting. I had to advocate for grandpa time and time again. But still to no avail. On his day of discharge, nursing did not bring grandpa downstairs for his scheduled medical transport ride back home, so the transport driver drove off. Placing even further stress on family members to figure out a safe way to transport grandpa back home. I have nothing positive to say about this facility. The only thing is you don't have to worry about your loved ones with dementia escaping as this place is locked and triple locked, like a prison. You can't enter without someone letting you in, and you can't catch the elevator or leave the facility without someone escorting you out. Safe, yes. Excessive, totally.
