The Queens Bridge is a vehicle bridge over the Yarra River in downtown Melbourne. It has some architectural design elements on the railings that look attractive, with a Victorian flair, and lighting. It's not designed for pedestrians, but since there's a separate pedestrian bridge a hundred meters from this one, it's not a problem. In fact, the pedestrian bridge is a good place to take in the Queens Bridge with the Melbourne skyline behind it. The Pedestrian bridge takes you over to Batman Park, and runs parallel to this bridge. The bridge connect Market to Williams Street to Queensbridge Street. It's an old bridge, built in 1889, and is listed on the register of historic places in Melbourne. It's built as a pretty flat arch with concrete girders that they sank into the Yarra River, connected by five wrought iron plate girder spans. It looks pretty sturdy to me. read more
