    Review Highlights - Queens Arms

I had such a great time here singing along with the cabaret performers, that I ended up being here for hours.

My friend and I decided to go to this pub to meet up with a friend of his. It's at a good location,…read morenear the Royal Pavilion and pretty close to the centre of the city. I definitely agree with Vanessa A.'s review, regarding the fact that the majority of patrons are girls. My friend and I were the only two guys at this place. We hung out with five girls that night (all friends of my friend's friend), and had a pretty good time chatting, and drinking pints of Guinness stout beer and Strongbow cider. Although there was not that much people since we came on a Sunday night, I enjoyed the atmosphere and the camaraderie. This place has a fairly decent pool table. I played a couple of games with the girls my friend knew and also had a good time shooting around the balls. When I think of this place, I think red for some reason, mainly because the red walls. The benches I sat on were not too comfortable, though, the cushions were kind of firm. Despite that, I still had a good time hanging out with my friend and the girls. Overall, this is another decent pub that I had a pretty good time drinking and hanging out with friends and another one of the pubs that made my trip to Brighton memorable.

Moderate priced drinks but I had more expensive else where. All different walks of life from lgbt community go there well worth a visit.

Update 15 February 2009…read more Visited last night and were very disappointed. Nearly empty and with intrusive, anonymous thumping disco music. They only had one real ale on, and that was 'on the turn' - ie nearly off - and not nice to drink. We decided to move on, and when we pointed out our half-drunk pints to the bar man, and explained the problem, he just said 'oh, yeah, thanks' and offered no apology. ---------------------------- This is a busy sea-front lesbian/gay pub in Brighton, away from the main gay area, just west of the Palace Pier. It serves a decent selection of real ale, among the usual lagers, alcopops, wines and spirits, and the bar staff and friendly and efficient, even when busy. On week-end evenings there's a resident DJ, so the music volume can be a bit overwhelming (though this seems to be popular with regulars, so I guess I'm just getting old). It can get ram-packed on a Friday and Saturday, as it's especially popular with pre-club folk (mostly, but not exclusively gay). Not bad when it's a bit quieter.

Really nice inside, quite a lot of seating,a cosy little room down stairs. Great selection of drink, whatever your taste is. And in my eyes they played some of the best music i've heard in a bar for ages. Last night it was afro-latin music,if i had my way every bar would play this type of music!! Other nights are on as well.....check local press!!

My local and definitely one of my favourite drinking establishments in Brighton…read more It's regularly listed in the 'Brighton's Best Bars' lists floating around on the world wide web. It also makes a few craft beer pub lists too as it has a very long list of world and craft beers, mainly in bottles, to chose from. It may surprise a few but it also serves amazing cocktails. A craft beer place AND a good cocktail place under one roof!? Surely not! But yes, it definitely works, they do a mean Amaretto sour and Espresso Martini and some of the more unusual cocktails too. It's not table service though which I actually really like as it remains down to earth and has a local hangout vibe. It gets really busy at the weekends on Friday and Saturday nights and there's often a band on or a cool DJ playing Northern Soul over the weekend too. In the daytime it's really chilled out and the bar staff are always happy to chat to you and talk you through the latest beer/cocktail menu (or about anything really!). There's also seating outside but with the view of the top of St. James Street it definitely is a better view inside with its quirky decor. I lucked out with this place being my closest pub!
