Come here for the nice, shady dining area more than anything else…read more It took quite a bit of time to get our drinks. This was frustrating considering other tables (of locals who were seated after us) were served promptly. There wasn't a food option while we were there, but I understand they source food locally and change their menu by the day. That could be fun to see. We ordered wines and a big beer (Baladin Super) but the menu didn't specify the type of Super, so we ended up with a bitter instead of sour. I liked it enough, but no one else in the group did, unfortunately. I needed to use the restroom and they were completely out of toilet paper. I walked up to the bar and asked for some, and they said it was a "known issue" and pointed at some napkins. Like, fancy table napkins. Interesting. All in all, this was a pretty odd visit and I probably would try a bar elsewhere if I stopped into Catania in the future.

This is just one of those places! Silvio, the waiter, is what customer service should be and Americans back home should lead by his example. He is as friendly and helpful as can be. I had the best lasagna I have ever had in my life and, being a lasagna aficionado that says a lot, plus ridiculously affordable beer this is the spot to be. I can't wait to bring my wife here when she comes to visit!

We were there a long time ago (2019!), we had a delicious and quiet meal here, in the beating heart of beautiful Ortigia island. Service was fast and efficient, and the selection of Sicilian wines was awesome. I had the eggplant caponata which was wonderful. But, the menu here changes almost daily so I don't know if that'll be an option when you come here. Still, everything was tasty, well-seasoned, and flavorful. Prices were very reasonable and the ambience was delightful. I hope you come and try it out too!

We were started off with excellent bread, caper berries, fava beans and hard boiled eggs. The carafes of Nero d'Avola were solid and a great value. We shared a bunch of dishes in order to try as many things as possible. Sicilians have a way with eggplant and their eggplant parmesan was deeply flavored without being heavy. The caprese salad and caponata were excellent. The fried mushrooms weren't quite up the the level of the other appetizers. The pasta a la Norma was excellent. The spaghettini Siciliana was interesting and good. The spaghetti with garlic, oil and chili was OK. This was a nice way to immerse ourselves in the local vibe.

We started off with a cocktail at the bar. Our bartender was charming. We were given some tasty snacks to accompany our drinks. The outdoor tables at the restaurant have the same breathtaking view. The waitstaff were lovely and attentive. The home made bread, tomato butter and house olive oil were excellent. The chef sent out some excellent small bites to start. The wine list was good, with a lot of fairly priced selections. My wife and her friend started off with an excellent salad. My buddy and I enjoyed ring pasta served over meat sauce. We also really liked our fried fish entrees. Our waitress recommended the lobster and pasta special to my wife and her friend. They decided to split an order. I had read that lobster and some of the fish were priced by weight, but didn't give it another thought. The waitress brought out a nice lobster and showed it to us. Imagine our surprise when we were charged 180 euros for this single dish. I am from Manhattan and have eaten at expensive restaurants all over the world. This is the most expensive entree that I have ever paid for, even when split between two people. I was shocked and a bit embarrassed. This put a damper on our evening. I would happily enjoy another meal at this special location, but buyer beware when it comes to entrees priced by weight!

Live soft piano music drifted across the terrace where we were seated. The food was very delicious and crafted from locally sourced ingredients, including their own olive oil served with their freshly baked breads and breadsticks. As others have noted the view from La Terrazza degli Dei is spectacular (the Temples are illuminated at night) which only added to the experience of the evenings. Breakfast is another treat as it is served on the lower terrace of the restaurant with an expansive choice of items and with a tower of assorted pastries delivered to each table (and including a morning view of the Temples).
