We were there a long time ago (2019!), we had a delicious and quiet meal here, in the beating heart of beautiful Ortigia island. Service was fast and efficient, and the selection of Sicilian wines was awesome. I had the eggplant caponata which was wonderful. But, the menu here changes almost daily so I don't know if that'll be an option when you come here. Still, everything was tasty, well-seasoned, and flavorful. Prices were very reasonable and the ambience was delightful. I hope you come and try it out too!

We were started off with excellent bread, caper berries, fava beans and hard boiled eggs. The carafes of Nero d'Avola were solid and a great value. We shared a bunch of dishes in order to try as many things as possible. Sicilians have a way with eggplant and their eggplant parmesan was deeply flavored without being heavy. The caprese salad and caponata were excellent. The fried mushrooms weren't quite up the the level of the other appetizers. The pasta a la Norma was excellent. The spaghettini Siciliana was interesting and good. The spaghetti with garlic, oil and chili was OK. This was a nice way to immerse ourselves in the local vibe.

The restaurant itself appears to be a local joint and not one catering to tourists (a big plus in our eyes). The simple, limited menu offered enough options, but also let us know they do things right and don't try to do too much. Also check out their daily specials. We ordered a little bit of everything and each plate was superbly prepared. You can tell they take great pride in perfecting these simple dishes to elevate them from comfort food to gourmet quality. We will definitely return!!!

Very bright lighting (too bright?) and simply decorated with big photographs of Sicilian locations. The one "tavern" element was the big wine barrel with a tap used to pour the house wine into glass pitchers. (Pretty good local white.) The smoked fish appetizer was delicious. And we enjoyed our fish and pasta dishes. A bit of charm--the desserts choices were handwritten on a napkin. Pleasant and tasty. Would not hesitate to go back.
