History
Established in 1988.
I opened Quality Vac & Sew originally as Quality Vacuum, later expanding to add sewing machines. Our original location was a 450 square foot store front with 2 vacuum lines, bags, belts and repairs. Sewing machines were added in 1990, and our store expanded to 1200 square feet, and added a full-time employee. Since then, we have grown to 3200 square feet, handling over 70 vacuum models from 8 different manufacturers. Our sewing department has grown to include Husqvarna Viking, Brother and Pfaff machines, as well as sewing cabinets, notions, and more. Our service department handles factory authorized repairs for every brand we carry, doing all work in-house. We attend national training several times each year to maintain our level of expertise. Our family-owned business is celebrating our 25th year serving the Winona Area and we look forward to many more to come!
Meet the Business Owner: Steve S.
After teaching high school for almost ten years in the 70's & 80's, it was time for a change. I re-entered the sewing & vacuum industry I had worked in after college, and decided in 1988 to open my own retail store. I currently handle all management responsibilities, do virtually all service work on all machines. I also am the chief salesperson, website & newsletter editor, maintenance man, chief cook and bottle washer. I do voice recordings for audio study guides as a sideline, have been a drummer for over 40 years, and love science fiction in all its forms. I have been happily married for almost 34 years and have two grown children. For fun, I currently perform as a drummer with the La Crosse Highlanders, a local Bagpipe group, marching in numerous parades and playing at special events. No, I don't wear my kilt to work!
