We sadly had a terrible experience with this company. Our goal was to work with local businesses for our renovation and Quality Stone had been recommended by our cabinet maker.
When I arrived at their showroom, I had asked for countertop made from recycled glass. The salesperson said she never heard of such a thing. She directed me to Quartz. I picked a color and left it at that.
Later in the planning process, I went back and picked out tile. While I was there, I noticed there was a display of recycled class counter top material. I pointed it out and said too bad they didn't have that when I first came in. Her response was, we had it, but it's expensive. (I never understood this sales tactic. Isn't that for me to decide whether or not I want to spend money on the product I have asked for??)
Anyhow, I pick out some glass tile. Turns out they can't get it for weeks and my project is already in process. I pick out some others and they can't get those either. I end up picking something marble, even though I really didn't want marble, because that was essentially all they could get in time. They ordered enough, plus some overage.
When my kitchen cabinets were in place, they sent someone to come measure to make a pattern for the counter tops. He came, I was home the whole time, he asked how far I wanted the counter to hang off over the cabinets. That was his only question. He left without my even knowing.
The day came to install the counter and it was too small, leaving a very silly gap and no overhang over the sink base cabinet. It looked ridiculous but there was nothing they could do but replace the entire piece which would have taken who knows how long and they were not going to do it for free. Instead they made me a thin piece of Quartz which I later epoxied on myself. I was pretty upset as the counter top was not cheap.
Then it was time for the tiles to be put on. The installers were incredibly messy and used my brand new stove as a work table, literally cutting the tiles on top of it. In some areas they used far too much morter, in others not enough. The final appearance was really bumpy to the extent that I couldn't later install under cabinet lights because it highlighted how terrible the tile was installed. (Not smooth at all). Even worse, they tiled too far over the electrical outlets and had to come back to saw out enough space to squeeze back in the outlets.
While the installers were working in the kitchen they got epoxy and grout on my BRAND NEW CUSTOM CABINETS. They were so sloppy. And because they had no clue what they were doing when they cut the tile, they didn't efficiently use them and had to buy several more boxes which I was later charged for by Quality Stone.
When I complained about our experience, the same sales person as mentioned above said, oh ya, we never use that guy for important work. I don't really know him. He's someone the owner brings on when he needs extra help. So basically, they knew he didn't know what he was doing and left him to work alone in my apartment (and then charged me extra!).
I also noticed recently that they never caulked around the base of the tiles where the tiles meet the counter. By the sink, the grout was already cracking and getting discolored.
I also have photos I intend to post. We were so disappointed in the tile and counter tops. I would not recommend working with this company. Their sales help and installers did not seem concerned with customer service. read more
