He is extremely detailed, very through checking everything in the home. He was there a little bit before the scheduled time and was able to give us information on what he was going to do and why each step was important. He would even show us things to watch for and give helpful tips for how to keep our house in good shape even after buying it. Using his service has saved me TENS of thousands of dollars and he was able to locate issues that prior inspectors had missed or ignored. I have used his service recently to inspect a $700,000 home I had under contract in Winter Park. Michael was able to identify past and present leaks in the cast iron piping which would have cost me a small fortune to replace as well as a major excavation project. He was also able to identify many areas of wood rot and multiple other repairs which would have been a to be completed in the near future., Including areas of draining from past leaks and evidence that the leaks may have been covered up by the seller. So, Jason Horton, Vortex Sewer & Drain completely rescued me on the first working day of 2023!!…read more I contacted him on New Year's Eve (and he responded) because I noticed something strange going on with my water filter that I'd never noticed before. I asked him to please come look at it as he had offered me advice via FB posts in the past. I had completely forgotten that it was NYE. I texted and he responded easily 2-3 times before it finally occurred to me that it was NYE. I was embarrassed and apologized. He was like "no biggie!" I asked him to contact me on Monday. His assistant texted and we made arrangements for him to come out on Monday, Jan 2, 2023 to check out my filtration system. He said the dripping I'd found was nothing serious and not to worry about it. There is A LOT I don't understand about having a well and septic, so since he was here I asked a few other questions. One was about chlorine bleach and this water tank. I told him that I had added bleach and water to this tank, but it had been 7-8 mos and the water never seemed to go down. He knew exactly what was wrong and adjusted a knob on top of the tank. Then he had me turn on the water to check and voilá the tank started working again (and it has been working ever since). Then I asked a question about my septic - and thank g-d I did!! I told him I was doing laundry the nite before and it sounded like the washer was draining into my middle bathroom bathtub. He said it was possible there was a blockage somewhere in the lines. Of course, I was panicking. While I was panicking, Jason said "wait a second, let's just check a few things first." We went over to the septic system and he lifted up one of the lids and the s*** water was literally 2-3 inches from the top! Then he opened the one that has the filter and same thing...filled to the top!! Turns out the GFI outlet for the septic system was tripped in one of the last hurricanes, but I didnt know I was supposed to check things like that. He reset it and sure enough as soon as he did within 2 minutes the water went down a few feet! Can you imagine if I didn't happen to ask him that question? Flood central!! OMG!! Obviously I will be adding check the GFI outlet that powers my septic system to my post-hurricane checklist. Holy moly did he save the day...and that wasn't even what I called him about! Please, if you have any issues with the septic or the drainage in your home contact Jason at Vortex! He is super helpful, and knowledgeable, and in my case a life and a house-saver too!!
