We wanted to get just north of Nashville and found this little gem just off I-65. I was greeted at the front desk with a smiling, kind and helpful front desk person. The lobby was super clean with well appointed furniture and detailing. Our room was lovely! We didn't take a swim, but felt the water temp in the pool...Guess what? A WARM, INDOOR POOL!! We both slept like babies on the comfortable mattress. The free breakfast was hot and tasty! All this for $90 +tax on a Monday night. Plus, TONS of food and shopping options just down the road! Will definitely be locking this in for future stops! A HUGE bonus is it didn't smell like Fabuluso and 420...lol...(Those who know, know) I cannot express enough how clean this place was!!

It's dirty and uncared for and it shows. The front desk people aren't interested in customer service of any kind. If you need something don't expect to get any response. They don't care. Really. And it shows. This was really one of the worst stays my family and I have had when traveling. Upon arrival it became clear that there was remodeling or some sort of construction going on. In the past this has been noted when making the reservation. Not the case here. As soon as we entered the hotel it smelled musty and almost immediately it was evident that it was also dusty. We weren't looking for a four seasons experience but if we had had any other option that late at night we would have left immediately. We were on the third floor. The elevator didn't work. Apparently this was known by the front desk but not mentioned to us at check in. Again, we don't mind taking stairs but we would have appreciated knowing the elevator didn't work so that we could adjust how we were getting to the room. They didn't seem bothered either way. "Oh...yeah...we called someone about it..." The room smelled damp and musty. My husband has severe asthma and spent much of the next morning coughing and wheezing due to the musty damp environment of that room. We all sounded hoarse and wheezy the next day. The bathtub had rust that was built up not just a stain. Lamps were unplugged. The carpet hand not been vacuumed. Needless to say it was not a pleasant night stay. Not surprisingly the mattresses were hard and uncomfortable. I'm not just complaining to complain. If the beds had been the lone exception to this hot mess I'd have said so. They weren't. We have stayed in hotels that were under going a remodel before. There are bound to be less an ideal moments. But the rooms we stayed in were ready for guests. The hotel staff knew which rooms were ready and which were not. This hotel is not up to bare minimum standards for guests who are just looking for a place to sleep for the night. This was all made worse by the fact that the hotel manager couldn't be bothered to call my husband back. It has been a week. Unacceptable. We have a choice as to where we stay. We aren't looking to be fancy. This was a place to lay our heads for the night on a very long road trip. But the lack of concern for guests by hotel staff and management is not appropriate on any level. We canceled the stay we had booked for the return trip and drove a different route home to stay at an IHG property that is always on point and comfortable. On another note, the staff in the breakfast area the next morning was very kind. My son wanted a banana. That's it. We didn't see any bananas out so he asked the staff member servicing the area if there were any bananas and she not only brought him one, she brought two packaged muffins to him saying they were her favorite. It was very kind and much appreciated. My husband ended up calling IHG directly. As has always been our experience with them, they are very responsive and addressed our concerns immediately. This is why we use IHG properties when we travel. They are all about good customer service. They are efficient and courteous. It is very appreciated.

If anyone else out there is in such a quandary, let me allay your fears. We pulled in late at night, and the exterior was brightly lit and the rooms themselves had nice ambient lighting, with white florescent lights in the vanity area. Let me assure you, the rooms were very adequately cleaned. Could you eat off the floor? No, but I wouldn't suggest you do that at my house either. The rooms have been recently renovated in a budget version of what might be described as "urban loft", complete with faux wood floors and minimalist bedding, and it's pretty darn nice. And get this: the bed was comfortable, the room sufficiently warm, the water hot. There were stains on the armchair, but obviously they can't afford to throw out furniture every time an item gets stained. Bottom line, don't hesitate to spend the night here if you need a relatively inexpensive motel in an otherwise expensive area. (No, there is no shampoo, bring your own, this ain't Trump Tower!).

Despite there being two check-in areas, we weren't even acknowledged until I approached the desk and greeted the employee myself. I was then told she "doesn't like to tell guests to move." A simple acknowledgment that we were standing there waiting would have been basic customer service. Later that night, around 11:50 p.m., guests were outside on the pool deck directly outside our window talking, laughing, and being loud. I called the front desk and was told there was no closing time or quiet time for the deck, but they would ask them to quiet down. Twenty minutes later, nothing had changed. When I called again, I was told there was nothing they could do, but they had complimentary earbuds available. Offering earbuds instead of addressing excessive noise directly outside a guest's window around midnight is unacceptable. Between the poor service at check-in and the way the noise complaint was handled, I would not recommend this hotel and will be contacting Holiday Inn/IHG corporate about our experience.

I didn't realize a code was required to enter the building, and there was no front desk or staff on-site. At first, that was a little different for me, but overall, I had a very nice stay. The room was much smaller than what I'm accustomed to, but it was comfortable and surprisingly had everything I needed. I especially appreciated the thoughtful extras--a complimentaryr bottle of wine, snacks, and bottled water waiting for me when I arrived. There was also a refrigerator in the room and a microwave available in the hallway. The shower was a nice size, with hot water and great water pressure. The body wash and hand soap smelled really pleasant, which was another nice touch. One thing that really impressed me was the customer service, especially considering there was no traditional front desk. If I had a question or experienced an issue, there was always a number I could call, and someone was readily available to help. Surprisingly, every question or issue I had was addressed and resolved immediately. That gave me a lot of confidence and made the stay much more convenient than I initially expected. Parking was convenient, easy, and hassle-free. As a solo female traveler, I also felt safe, which was very important to me. There were cameras throughout the property, and I appreciated having that extra sense of security. Most importantly, the stay was quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. The location was also convenient and not too far from downtown Nashville. While The Gallatin was definitely a different experience from a traditional hotel, I genuinely enjoyed my stay. The complimentary wine and snacks, comfortable room, attentive customer service, convenient parking, and peaceful atmosphere made the experience better than I expected. I would definitely keep The Gallatin in mind if I visit Nashville again.
