On top of being in a sketchy area and having atrocious customer service all you need to know was that there was actual crap in my bed. We are thinking maybe from a rodent. When I informed the front desk they said it would be cleaned for the next guest. Need I say more?

I must say... I am VERY pleased! At first when I booked through Hotwire, I was a little disappointed at the cost I paid once I saw the hotel they revealed. Through Hotwire, I have stayed in 4 star hotels for the same price. However, I carried on because I didn't have much of a choice. Upon arriving and checking in, the front desk lady was nice, professional, and fast! Not only was the check-in smoother than I think I have ever experienced, but the lady checked the status of our room and allowed us to check-in earlier than their normal check-in time. Opening the door to our room, we noticed a pleasant fragrance (not moldy and stale like most hotels in its class) and the beds and bathrooms looked to be nice and clean. We were more so excited with their free breakfast!!! Got up this morning at 6am to give it a try before heading on our way. Food was hot, food bar clean and organized, and it tasted just as good as it looked!!! I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to share some pictures of it with you all!! Definitely satisfied!!!

Hampton Inn - La Crosse (South Hill), VA Room 300…read moreStay: February 17, 2026 Based on my highly controlled, peer-reviewed sample size of three Hampton Inn stays on this six-state + one-District crash-pad tour... I can confidently report: Beds = comfy. Pillows = a systematic failure. The mattress in Room 300? Solid. Supportive. No complaints. The pillows? Structural collapse. They flatten faster than airport bottled water budgets. If you're pillow-particular and have luggage space, vacuum-seal your own and bring it. We're traveling streamlined, so that was a hard pass. Now -- this room is unexpectedly spacious. Hardwood-style flooring, kitchenette with fridge and microwave, hallway separation -- it feels more extended-stay than overnight stop. Big enough that I briefly wondered if we were hosting the next TED Talk. Sink design: Faucet positioned too far back. Water doesn't cleanly clear into the basin. Small detail, noticeable every time. Shower: Water pressure acceptable. Hot water temperature range acceptable. No extremes. Middle lane performance. Towels: On a scale from zero to Brillo Pad -- 6. Enough exfoliation to wake you up in the morning. Also smaller than towels at prior stops. I can only assume the traveling population shrinks as we head north. Breakfast: This was the curveball. We expected the standard chain-wide lineup. Instead: plant-based sausage, rubberized egg discs, and Hampton-branded waffles. Fortunately, I had leftover Chicken Fried Chicken from Cracker Barrel the night before, so I improvised my own chicken-and-waffles situation. Adapt. Overcome. Jen ate enough to be fed and carried on like a champion. Check-in was friendly and welcoming. Whether that energy influenced the room assignment, I'll leave to speculation. Overall: Spacious layout. Reliable mattress. Serviceable shower. Ongoing pillow conspiracy. (4/5) As we continue this one-night, multi-state sprint toward the District, Hampton remains consistent -- just waiting on the pillows to join the program.

There was constant traffic going through that back door which loudly slammed all night. That was only one issue. As Rory stated the maintenance was terrible. The shower did not drain and there was something going on with the AC unit on the floor above, I suspect, since I heard dripping water coming in the room and hitting the AC unit in my room. I thought it was pouring down outside and was shocked to discover that it was sunny outside. I'm a VIP with Hilton and feel like they gave me the worse room I'm the hotel.

If we had a question or concern, they were quick to respond accordingly, and fast. Not to mention, this was the week of 1) a family reunion AND 2) A national little league traveling baseball tournament. Despite the heavy workload, fresh breakfast was provided each night and service remained to be caring and direct. You can tell that these workers also care about what they do. To be clear, hotels aren't perfect; and this one surely wasn't so. The key is how the staff responds to a multitude of issues that's surely to arrive. That determines the stay. That made this A+. Needless to say, when we entered the hotel and went to the registration desk, no one was there. Guess who the reservation agent was - smoky lady! She didn't say I will be right with you, or are you guys checking in. She continued to smoke her cigarette and came in when she was done. But the caveat is, I asked for additional towels and washcloths, because I didn't think our room had any. She called us later in the evening, and asked us to bring the unused towels back to the lobby. Very unsanitary. Not to mention the big burn on the carpet in the hallway outside of our room. This was a quick overnight stay, needless to say - THE LAST ONE!

Expedia put me on hold to contact the hotel and the owner ( very tall Indian man ) came out yelling, pointing at me saying " YOU DON'T CALL EXPEDIA YOU TELL ME YOUR PROBLEMS IF YOU WANT REFUND ." So that did not make things better at all. I will upload photos. So over all this is a true definition of a roach motel ! I did not have extremely high expectations for the room because I only expected to stay a night but there is no way i could have slept or showered there.

I wake My fiancé up to ask him to turn the light on and look at my arm. Of course there are bites. Immediately, we find 2 bed bugs and he starts recording them. We call down to the front desk and the arrogant , Indian front desk employee tells My fiancé that he " does not do refunds and to call police to get his money back. " Although we know it is a civil matter, we still call just to have it on record that we did. The only reason we even went to this particular place was because there were no hotels for miles. At this exit , there were three but this was the first one I called to find out if there were any vacancies. My purpose for writing this review isn't because I'm pressed for $60 but to spread awareness to the people that may want to stop at this place or places like this in the future. I have 2 babies. I cannot afford to bring bedbugs home. Sorry. I have experience in the hospitality field. Specifically motel 6 as a night auditor at the front desk. Therefore, I know how things should be. This employee was not sympathetic in any way, shape or form. Instead he was arrogant and extremely rude and continuously called our room telling us to change rooms. We don't live here to take them to court so I won't waste my time driving this far for nothing but I will contact corporate and raise awareness about their terrible policy. There is nothing posted anywhere about their refund policy period. They just assume we are young and stupid maybe even inferior but my momma didn't raise a fool. I will never sit there and argue with an employee. I'll go right above your head. Immediately took a hot shower and used their skin drying soap on my arms.
