Very run down houses, very desolate town. But, when you pull into the driveway of this house, you totally forget where you are and only focus on the huge house with the inviting front porch and bright, red door. We have never stayed at a B&B before, so we weren't sure of the protocols, so we just walked on inside and started looking around. The house is old and southern, and that is exactly what I expected. There is a huge sitting room, and a very cozy den/study that has a nice TV, leather couch, huge leather chair, desk, fridge, and thousands of books. The dining room is also cozy, and the kitchen is small but nice, but not really part of the guest experience. The real stunner is when you open the back door and see the huge porch, and gorgeous yard and gardens. A little slice of heaven in tiny Enfield. Suzann, the owner, was in the kitchen when we arrived, and she came out to greet us with huge smile on her face. She started showing us around, and led us upstairs to our room for the weekend - a very good sized room with a very nice bathroom, and a comfy, soft bed with amazingly soft sheets. The upstairs also has a huge deck so you can enjoy the view of the gardens from there too. Breakfast both mornings was delightful, and you can really taste the love and care that goes into Suzann and Wayne's cooking. The first day we had yogurt parfait, an egg fritatta, bacon, sausage, and fresh baked biscuits. All were great, but the biscuits were the star....so good!!!! The second day we started out with the yogurt parfait again, then baked apples, bacon, and strawberry lemon pancakes.....heaven! I am not a huge fan of baked apples since I despise cinamon, but these were not overloaded with cinnamon at all, and were not overcooked. This woman can cook!! Overall, I highly recommend coming here for a weekend getaway if you live within an hours drive. There is a nice State Park near by, and a very cool Waterfowl park, but other than that, not much going on within 50 miles. But, to get away and relax in a beautiful home with wonderful service, and being forced to really take everything slow and just enjoy nature and your partner is a blessing. I cannot conclude this review without mentioning Cozy. Cozy happens to be the word's sweetest golden retriever alive, and he will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside the whole weekend. He is so well behaved and loving, and I am pretty sure he knows his job is to give love to all guests so they feel right at home. Love that dog!

The local Chinese restaurant had surprisingly good food. Ate carryout on the back veranda under a full moon. Great place to relax and experience southern hospitality. We will definitely return for a longer visit.

She was delightful, gave us information about the town, the area, the restaurants, and the house. Our room was very sweet, with lace curtains and a four-poster bed draped with lace and a big comfortable wing chair. There were nice snacks on the landing and plenty of water, coffee and tea. We walked into town for dinner, really enjoying the beautiful historic houses and gardens along the way. After eating at George's, which is a local favorite, we had just a ten-minute walk back to The Ivy. In the morning we got full English breakfasts and there were outstanding: egg on toast, ham, two kinds of sausage, beans, mushrooms and grilled tomatoes. Plus more time to chat with our host and the other guests. It was an exceptionally enjoyable stay.

We wish we could have spent one more night. We stayed in the Joe Wright room. What a beautiful room, a bed draped in ivory white and also very comfortable. I joked with my husband that was the best sleep we have had in months. The next morning Karen prepared the full English and my husband was in heaven. Everything from our Victorian China to the delicious breakfast to our history chat with Karen made our morning before we headed home. This is a must place to visit to relax. I hope to enjoy the afternoon tea soon. Ps, we enjoyed the Walkers Biscuits for a late snack!

We arrived to find a very clean and charming farmhouse with yummy cookies, a comfortable bed, and fascinating pictures and books. After a wonderful night's sleep, Jacqueline cooked an out-of-this world homemade farmhouse breakfast with fluffy eggs, sausage gravy, biscuits, fruit, jams--most of which was sourced right there from the farm. That morning, she took us on a complimentary tour of the farm and explained much of the history and operation of the farm. We fed a baby guinea hog from a bottle, fed hay to fainting goats, and toured the high tunnel garden and 18th century cabin on the property. Overall, it was a very delightful stay and we look forward to visiting again in the future!

Old Crowe provides an opportunity to learn about and live a little of what organic farming and sustainable living are about. I'm still waiting for the strawberry jam to be surely set before dipping into it - but we already had a blast with Jacqueline learning hands-on about canning basics including food safety. I liked fishing the filled jars out of the hot water bath with a jar lifter. The guest accommodations are elegant, the community real country, hosts Jim and Jacqueline so willing to be of help, including with special dietary restrictions: Yes, although we don't eat pork we wanted to visit this heritage hog farm and they still made great breakfasts for us.

Jim and Christine were amazing hosts they made sure we were warmly greeted and well fed. Breakfast was amazing more food than I or my husband could eat! We had cheesy eggs, sausage, fruit with yogurt, potatoes and your choice of tea, coffee, hot coco and a juice. They exceeded my expectations on quality and presentation. The butter even was shaped like a swan. I think when a place takes such pride on the details you know that you are in great hands. We stayed in the wicker room which was perfect. We had a private bath and shower. The room had a TV w DVD player and sat cable. The room was perfect and I slept like I was in my own house. I love the location of the B&B, it was centrally located to all shops and restaurants in Blackstone. Would recommend this place to anyone and everyone I know as a perfect weekend getaway.
