Awful place, problems from check in and ongoing. Poor attitude and low quality plate. There is no elevator so to use the 2nd floor there are stairs only. Plus, the only pet room accessible is on 1st floor. Terrible!! Didn't have tv that worked, they called their tech who got it working but it has a very poor picture quality, barely watchable. Then next morning I called to have room serviced (bedding not changed, trash there) but they never did. Then was told they had left for the day at 1 pm. They would call the lead cleaning person. At 3, i asked what they said and asked them to at least remove yesterday's trash. They said they hadn't heard from the cleaning person, in past 2 hours, and I was told "people have lives outside here". Idiotic response!! I told her my stay was poor, nothing... Never here again, stay away, they are terrible and the rooms are poor. read more

This hotel is a dive. We got a "deal" and paid a total of $334.74 for two nights on 9/26 and 9/27, which is outrageous. Our room (101) was damp, dingy and smelled. This room has not been updated in decades: the brown patterned carpet is ancient, damp and sticky - it was so gross we could not walk on it with bare feet. The bedding felt damp due to the overall dampness in the room, which was repulsive. The bathtub was disgusting, with dirt apparently permanently ground into the plastic - we used shower shoes because we did not trust that it was clean. There was an overall musty, unpleasant smell in the room as well. We arrived late the first night and went right to bed as we were exhausted, but I spoke to the woman at the front desk the second night and very nicely and reasonably asked for a better room after explaining the situation. She said she had no other room to offer, and suggested we turn on the air conditioning, which we already had. I then asked for a discount, and she said she would leave a note for the manager who would have to approve this. We have not been contacted yet. There was no apology for anything or indication of concern. The flyers in the room say "commitment to your satisfaction" and say if you let hotel staff know if there is anything that would make your stay more enjoyable, they will make it right. There are also promises to provide guests with the most professional and personalized service, and to assist with anything they have overlooked 24 hours a day. We experienced none of this. We reserved at this hotel because the only hotel at our destination 45 minutes away looked pretty run down, and since we wanted to have a nice hotel to relax in we were willing to make the drive in the morning. We figured a "name brand" hotel chain could be trusted to be reliably kept up. Instead we were completely grossed out and could not wait to leave. We didn't even stay for the breakfast because we didn't trust what the quality level of that would be after our disappointing room experience. It really colored our entire trip, which was disappointing. We have stayed in hotels in Chicago and Milwaukee for half this rate which were modern, clean and fresh. To bill this price as a "deal" is a blatant rip-off. And the lack of the most basic level of customer service is appalling. read more

When searching for cat-friendly hotels, this hotel appears on Booking.com and others. After a 3 hour drive through a thunderstorm, I arrived at approximately 9:15 PM to be told, "We don't accept cats". I ended up driving another 20 minutes to fortunately a much nicer hotel that accommodated me. Whether or not to accept cats is of course, the property's prerogative, but this was false advertising. read more

We came up early to miss traveling in the storm but the quality inn in mauston, WI doesn't have plow service until overnight. So no one coming in and no one going out. Front desk no help. No restaurant here so were kinda screwed with getting any food until they plow. Dont want to put a delivery person in harms way either. Quality inn needs better snow plow service so their customers can go get some food. read more

Advertised a sandard king room with photos showing an en suite hot tub. After reservation was made, they tried to double the cost! I really liked this place when we stayed last month, but the bait-and-switch made it clear one cannot trust them. I'll drive the extra half hour to WI Dells and get a king size suite with hot tub and fireplace at Atlantis. read more

Terrible experience. The room smelled like dog pee and stale cigarette smoke. Everything was dusty. The tub drain was clogged. The Garbage can was overflowing outside in front of the building. There were cigarette butts all over on the side of the building where we went to take a walk. It was absolutely disgusting. I would never stay there again or recommend it. read more

Sorry. Wouldn't stay here again. Walked into a room with moldy, humid, moist, musty feeling. Found mold in the bathroom wall (forgot to take pictures for this rating). I only gave it 2 stars for 1.) having a friendly staff and 2.) being dog friendly. The carpet was so dirty that after walking around for 10 mins with my white socks on the bottom of my socks turned dark as if I was outside walking on in the grass. Elch. No thank you. read more

We were in the area for the Cranberry Festival in Warrens. This was as close as we could get -- everything else was sold out. The motel is clean and the staff friendly. Our room opened off the room that's the pool. It would be neat if we had kids, but we don't and just wanted a quiet evening. The pool closes to kids at 10 PM, but adults can use it until 11 PM. Don't people realize how loud they are being and how sound carries in that poorly insulated area? Just as I would almost doze off, someone else would cackle out. Glad you folks are having a nice time -- I just want some quiet sleep! Call the front desk and complain? Motel is sold out so no other room was available. We wouldn't stay here again. read more

Normally staying here for work, I have no issues. Staff is very friendly. The hotel itself could use improvement but I'm okay with 90% of rooms they give me. This past weekend during a snowstorm I woke up early before work to grab a bite at the continental breakfast. Of the hotels available in Mauston only 2 have a decent breakfast, this is one of them. After, I had the urge to go outside start and clear my vehicle of snow. Thank God I did, or I would have been late, the parking lot was plowed, but a bumper high mound of snow was left behind everyone's car. I cant believe the staff would allow this to happen. I cleared my truck and tried to break up the snow and ice with my boot but was unable to. Since no one was at the front desk I had to search the hotel for a shovel. I spent probability the better part of 15 minutes shoveling to finally be able to safely get my truck out. The reason I'm writing this review is the desk attendant was standing at the side door smoking a cigarette and chuckling at me digging my car out. Unbelievable... Will not ever stay here again. read more

We were moving between states and in a pinch and needed a room for the night, staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and dog friendly. Nice breakfast in the morning. Had parking in the back which accommodated our giant uhaul truck. My fiancé liked the lounge. Cute coffee hut nearby. After staying in a lot of crappy hotels, this one was overall a very pleasant experience. read more

Since 5am, someone's alarm clock has been going off and I believe they keep hitting the snooze button. I guess I should be happy though. The first room they tried to give me smelled like bad mold. My kids thought it was horrible when they walked in and I thought oh what babies until I walked in the room and smelled it too. Don't stay in room 103. It's moldy or something. So they moved us to a different room. It smelled fine and me and the kids thought we were in for a good night's sleep after a nice thankgiving meal with our extended family. I have stayed in this hotel every year that I've been going up for thankgiving. They used to be another hotel chain but switched. So anyway, back to my issue at hand. I'm now a zombie. Just when I try to get back to sleep, the alarm goes off yet again. What is wrong with people? I have called the front desk four times in an effort to get the alarm clock in what sounds like an adjacent room turned off. Are people really this inconsiderate? The last time I called the front desk, they apologized and said they thought it was probably that another guest had left a cell phone in the room and perhaps that was going off and that they'd have to check once they can get in the room when we check out. Does that mean they don't clean well? I really don't know. I have checked my kids cell phones and mine. One thing I expect is quiet between 5-7am. Maybe that makes me unreasonable. It's nice to have a warm place to stay for the night but this hotel needs to work on its mold problem and apparently, its cleaning. This nonsense with an alarm going off repeatedly, should not happen. It happened nearly 20 times. How does one sleep through that? read more

Hubby and I stayed overnight mid-way between the Twin Cities and Chicago. I had to ring the bell on the front desk multiple times before a woman came to help us. She asked if we'd stayed there before, found out we hadn't and immediately put on a big smile and said Welcome. We were traveling with our dog. Unbeknownst to us this hotel has certain rooms set aside as "pet rooms" and none of them have King beds. We had two Queen beds in our room and that left barely any floor space. We had lots of luggage and were scrambling for places to put it all. One bed had barely 6 inches between the bed and the wall so not very user friendly. The bathroom was right inside the room door as you enter from the hallway. Sink and vanity on the right, separate room with toilet and tub/shower on the left. Not unusual in a hotel situation but the toilet/tub "room" was extremely small and claustrophobic. There was a heat light in the ceiling which felt great while toweling down after showering. Bath towel I used was thin and scratchy. Think high school locker room. This is obviously a dated facility. The room was clean, tv reception good, microwave worked but the refrigerator made a loud hum all night long. Our room faced the Interstate and an entrance ramp. Constant road noise especially from semi trucks accelerating up that ramp. Free breakfast! The usual buffet of goodies. It's SO nice to grab something before we jump back on the highway to continue our journey. I'd give this place a strong "C". Basic facility, clean room, pet friendly (VERY nice and well lit grassy area for potty breaks but not very well cleaned. We dodged "land mines" previous dogs had left behind.) Non-refundable $10 Pet Fee. Would we stay again? Maybe. Splitting our drive by overnighting in Mauston is new to us. We are trying out all the hotels and taking notes. So far this one is #2 on our list. read more

I f you are not handicapped, this place is not so bad. However, I found it quite lacking in it's Handicapped accessibility. For one, there are no elevators, so if you are in a wheelchair you are out of luck. To get from one side of the complex to the other you have to go through the pool area...which is slippery and they do not monitor it very well. The other problem I found was their lack of parking. By this i mean that normal cars had no place to park because there were trucks hauling boats that took up all of the available spaces. All in all, To me, It wasn't worth the money that I spent to stay there for one night. read more

The outside looks renovated....the inside and my room was a trip back to the 90's. You have to walk through the pool area to get to your room. Heavy chlorine smell is awaiting you as you try to make it to your room. The bed was very worn and uncomfortable. Room heating / cooling is run by a 1980 push button in wall unit. TV is the smallest flatscreen I have seen in a hotel. The reception, even though cable, was that of bad antenna TV. It was the longest night I have had on the road in a long time. Not the worst but definitely not the best option in the Mauston area. read more

We found an adult toy in our "clean" room!!!! We just got back from our family member's funeral and found an adult toy. We had two small children staying with us also. The front desk lady took care of it for us (thank you!) and assured us that we would be getting a call from Liz the manager on Monday. The assistant manager also said the same thing. When I didn't receive her call I emailed them and still no response. Finally a week after not hearing back, we called. Liz was not very apologetic and offered us a very small refund. The shower curtain was also musty and made the whole room smell moldy. We are very disappointed in the room and even more disappointed in the way we were treated. We need to spend a lot of time in the area in the future, but we will be staying at different hotel with a further drive to avoid this one!!! I do have a pic if anyone wants to see what they missed!!!! I don't know how you can miss this if you are cleaning properly!!!! read more

This place was pretty decent. It was clean and the staff were friendly and attentive. The free breakfast had a lot of variety and was well stocked (there were a ton of people eating and the staff kept up on refilling everything). The pool area was nice for the kids. We stayed because we were going to a baseball tournament so there were a lot of kids there and we didn't hear anything from them while in our room. The rooms were on the small side but the bathroom was a decent size. It looked like it had recently been renovated. The shower had good water pressure. They had a deal with the Chula Vista for free passes to the water park that we took advantage of. My only beef was the price. It was $134 a night and this was not a $134 a night hotel. It was a very nice hotel but way overpriced but I guess they can gouge you because of the location. The free water park passes helped but still too much. read more

The staff at this hotel is friendly however they cannot answer many questions. There is apparently only 1 girl who is allowed to do the booking of blocked rooms which is very inconvenient when you call and she's not there. Then I called to ask if my team was blocked at that hotel and they tell me yes so I book there and the team wasn't even there and the hotel was $40 a night MORE expensive then the one across the street where the team actually was. I asked for them to at least refund me that amount and the manager promised to call back when she talked to the owner but she never did call. When I called a week later to see she said "oh yeah sorry I was busy but the owner said no he won't do anything about it". So I paid more money a night because their staff lied to me. Then the following weekend when our team was actually booked there our room smelt HORRIBLE.....I finally figured out why on Sunday when I pulled the liner out of the garbage can and found spoiled dried up milk! I would not recommend this hotel the owner and a manger are not accommodating AT ALL. read more
