Stayed here for 3 days for a business trip and will never do so again. 1. We were placed on the 3rd floor, and ALL night there was banging and bumping like kids running or bouncing balls, etc. After a 14 hr drive there I stayed up til midnight listening to this, until I finally called the front desk and asked them to call the room above me to ask them to keep it down. Nothing! Same thing went on for 3 nights. I asked on the 3rd night why they couldn't ask the floor above to keep it down, and she apologized saying that the OWNER LIVES ON THE 4TH FLOOR IN A SUITE. She said she called them to ask to keep it down, but obviously didn't worry about his guests because it never changed. If you cannot control how energetic or loud your kids are going to be, do not place guests in rooms right below them. 2. The HVAC is very poor. When I arrived the room was 75 deg. I immediately set it to 65, then went to work. Upon returning from work 8 hours later the room was 72 and never made it below that. 3. Cleanliness has much to be desired. My shoes were sticking to the carpet in parts of my room. I was seriously scared to have my foot accidentally touch the carpet. 4. The elevators are barely operational. One was down completely and the other takes about 3 minutes to make a complete trip from 1st to 3rd floor. If you are in the area, look for an airbnb or stay on the Canada side because trying to save a penny and stay here is not worth it. read more

Massena's best, but thats not saying much. Restaurant/bar is good, lobby and continental breakfast are good, the rooms...not so much. Weekend here for each of the past few summers and the rooms keep getting worse. I suspect some are uninhabitable as the parking lot isn't full but room availability is always sparse. This years room was just plain damp, ac was cool and quiet but didn't dry the air at all. This "suite" has the smallest shower i have ever seen. Bathroom was just old, see photo. With new hotels in Canton and Potsdam, Quality Inn Massena better drop their prices or do some serious remodeling. read more

OH...My...God. I feel like I need to take a shower after leaving our room. Seriously need to lay in a tub of hand sanitizer. We got to the hotel and I noticed dirt, bugs, and cobwebs under the check in counter. We walked up the INSIDE stairwell and found the biggest and grossest spiderwebs all around the windows. And got to our room, the curtains were melted/fused to the window, sh** stains on the white sheets. And by sh** I mean fecal matter. I hope someone from the health department looks at this review, nobody should be allowed to stay there. Pardon me while I go puke. read more

Have stayed here because. I work in Massena from out of town, so my company puts me up. Several times the room gave not been cleaned. I work 10 hour days and come back to an unclean Room. This happened today and was told our rooms would no longer be cleaned due to COVID, we have to bring our towels to the front desk now. This is ridiculous. Not that they did a great job to begin with but now you have to clean your own room WTH? read more

This place is disgusting. There are bedbugs, and dust everywhere. The cleaning crew tucks the filth behind the bed frames. The toilets haven't been cleaned in such a long time that they have black gunk under the seats. The public restroom areas have s&@t all over them and the lobby is covered with spider webs. read more

We made an impromptu trip around the Potsdam area and needed to book a hotel last minute. Unfortunately, all hotels around town were completely book. Fortunately, they had a couple of rooms available at the Quality Inn. The room was really nice and clean, and the staff were friendly. The cost was also surprisingly affordable at ~$75/night (tax included), which made it even better. read more

We stayed one night and that was enough. There was mold on the ceiling. The shower floor was filthy. There was a hole between our bathroom and the one next to it. Very deceiving, you walk into the lobby and its new and remolded but rooms are incredibly tiny and my room was old with carpet ripped in multiple places. Room was still better than the customer service i received from the Manager though. read more

The rooms at this hotel are absolutely horrible. I had a last minute need for a room and was told regular rooms are sold out and that for $180.00 I could get a suite room. Opened the door and what a dump. Trying to check out and take my business elsewhere. Do not stay here under any circumstances. The attached restaurant "The Club" is decent and not associated with the sleezebag hotel. Run....do not walk....to any other hotel.... yuk!!!! Even the desk staff were unfriendly and unimpressive. I repeat do not stay here!!! There was a bright spot in my short 20 minute stay....they refunded my money and allowed me to escape. Jumped to the Blue Spruce Motel. Nothing fancy but family owned, very clean and awesome people to chat with. Stay here and relax ! read more

This hotel is the worst I have stayed in a supposedly Quality Inn. The bathroom has not been redone for years with the shower in poor condition. The air- conditioning is ancient. It is rusted with paint chipped & peeling. It supposedly is controlled by a thermostat on one of the walls but no temperature appears & I am still not feeling it cool after 20 minutes. I recommend this hotel to no one. Also, the lobby is four steps below the elevator with no handicapped access. read more

Four years? Really? This place has been under "renovation" for four years! Aside from the fact that this place is constantly under construction it's actually not all that bad. The rooms are nice, rates are reasonable, and the beds are wicked comfy. If you care about nothing besides the room then stay here. Three negatives... 1) the aforementioned ongoing repairs, which are fine if you don't mind a ripped up carpet in the hallway and ugly walls. 2) one repair they haven't bothered with are the room doors, they slam. All of them, no matter how softly you try and shut it. 3) the housekeeping can be overly aggressive, latch your door if you don't want them walking on you at 7am (Seriously!) Three stars because the room is actually quite nice and comfortable, but no more than that until they get the place tidied up a bit. read more

haven't stayed in a hotel this bad since spring break in college...30 years ago! The place is grubby and worn. The bedspread is Brady Bunch-era yellow, with dusty curtains that match. The furniture is chipped, old and worn. The carpet is so gross it darkened my beige socks. Rust on the bathroom door frame with falling paint chips. And the room is painfully small. Do not stay here... find a bed & breakfast or sleep in your car. Quality Inn should yank their name off this travesty. read more

Hallways smell of heavy cigarette smoke . I checked in and asked for non-smoking room. They placed me right next door to chain smokers who I think live off Social Sec. disability who smoke all day with their door slightly open. My wife is currently staying with me as she is 7 month pregnant while I overlook painting project at South Channel International Bridge. I've asked their staff to move me several times to a non-smoking area because she wakes up vomiting every mourning due to the cigarette smoke coming in through the bathroom vents. They keep telling me they are booked. Horrible place, also prepare to hear the story that they are renovating, which I hear has been 4 years in progress. The room I have looks like you could get ringworm from the carpeting, and looks to be 10+ years old. read more

Poor - Advice to guests considering a stay. Don Not Stay and/or Do not pay in advance for your room for four reasons. 1). The HVAC was not working - the room was cold and damp and it was 70 degrees outside 2). The internet is painfully slow. Could not conduct a "Go to meeting" session - timed out 4 times before I gave up. Perhaps for plain email it would be fine. 3). The rates offered 30 days in advance, $159/night, near double to posted rack rate, $79/night, for the same room type and date of stay. If you have AAA or other memberships the rate may been less. Additionally, our group rate, which was also higher than the posted rack rate, $89.00/night was not honored either. 4). Not feeling valued\ poor customer service - Neither the hotel or Choice Hotels took accountability for the charge error (#3 above). Each said the other was responsible for making the adjustment.
