I am a loyal IHG member and have been for quite some time. Yesterday evening I arrived at the location in Magee, MS at approximately 21:30. I was absolutely exhausted from a long day of work only to greeted at the front desk by "Mary". I stated to Mary that I had a small trailer and there were no available spots in the parking lot, so I parked along the curb, and that I was well out of the way for other patrons. She immediately rushed around the counter and stated, "I will show you where to park!". After walking outside, she made several comments about my choice of a parking spot then asked if I had a reservation and if not, I should go to the Best Western across the street. Mind you I drive a pick-up truck and was pulling a ten-foot trailer, not an 18-wheeler!!!! I told Mary I would like to stay at this location due to have making a reservation the day prior, she stated "well you are going to have to park elsewhere". I then loaded my luggage back into my truck parked across the street at Bojangles. After returning to the front desk, I asked Mary if I could please check in. She was still not having it; she began to get very verbally upset and told me I was going to be arrested for parking next to the curb. Just to be noted that it was not posted by any signage nor, was it marked as a fire lane. After listening to her rant and rave I became very confused about the situation, I mentioned to Mary that I was a police officer for eleven years (truthful statement) and suggested that she became more familiar with the legal statutes and codes in her area before she threatens to have her customers arrested for parking in an unrestricted area. Mary did not like this and raised her voice and stated "Then you try it!!!! Try it!!!!" She then handed me my room key and told me to have a good night in a very sarcastic manner. Not once was I ever agitated nor argumentative and stated to her multiple time that I did not want to argue with her. Fast forward to breakfast this morning, I was greeted by a couple who witnessed the incident, and they expressed how insane and uncalled for it was. I was so thankful I was not the only one who witnessed the outrageous and unprofessional actions of Mary. I never write reviews and understand this is quite wordy but pay attention to who is behind the desk when you check in and if it is Mary, you are better off sleeping in your car at a gas station then dealing with her. The deal breaker for me was the prehistoric sized water bugs found in my room. We are talking 4 stomps and it's still moving sized bugs.... bugs that would survive a nuclear blast?! Check my photos you can see for yourself lol! I trapped one in a glass and showed the front desk, they said other than changing rooms there's really nothing they can do. Just search your room, those things might just decide to keep you company in the middle of the night!

They don't want your money because you are one of "those" people. I guess they see it as since Magee, MS has such a huge tourist draw that they don't need to cater to travelers passing through.

Breakfast from SSBB Bakery is complimentary with your stay. The bakery is closed on Sunday mornings, but hubby and I were left some wonderful pastries the night of our arrival. From the high ceilings to the immaculate hardwood floors, you have to ask.... why even bother to stay in a hotel when you can stay in a beautiful condo for the same price. My assignment was unexpectedly canceled on the final day, forcing a change in departure timing. I checked out approximately 30 minutes past the posted checkout time. All of my luggage had already been removed from the room and I was in the process of leaving the property. Despite this, the manager refused any flexibility and charged me for an additional full night. I contacted Hilton corporate customer service and was advised that the decision was entirely at the discretion of the individual property's management and ownership. I fully understand hotels have policies. However, anyone familiar with military or government travel knows schedules and orders can change without warning and are not within the traveler's control. A 30-minute overage, with a vacant room, resulting in a full additional night's charge shows a lack of reasonable accommodation and customer consideration. If you are military or a government contractor traveling on orders, I strongly recommend avoiding this property.

The temps in the rooms barely budge lower and sometimes even creep up! Also power seems to be unreliable as it goes out at least once a day! Building looks a little neglected with lots of hallway lightbulbs not working, and just small issues like paint and cracks on doors. At first glance everything will look fine until you start looking more closely. Breakfast is just your usual complimentary fare of eggs and bacon, bagels, yogurt, juice and coffee. You can make yourself some mini waffles with syrup if that's your preference. I did enjoy the coffee very much. Couldn't access the pool as the room cards don't seem to unlock the gate and staff don't really know why. Wifi is also very spotty at this location as I regularly get disconnected for 30-60 minutes at a time. No water is provided so you'll have to get your own. Showers are nice and large with nice smelling soaps. Unfortunately, no moisturizing lotions but Jackson is fairly humid so you might not need. Beds are large and comfortable with those terrible hotel pillows. It's kind of your no frills residential hotels for a decent price.
