Business center

This hotel was three stars until breakfast. The bed was fine. The water was hot. The towels were clean. The front desk staff was extremely accommodating. The internet was free. The parking was plentiful. There's an indoor pool. A workout room. A business center. Sure, it's no ritz Carlton. But it's not supposed to be. It's a nice spot to get some sleep when you need 8 hours total. For about $100, that's good for me. But wow, the employee overseeing the breakfast might have been the most rude person I've encountered in years. She rudely talked to my 5 and 3 year olds, and walked around appearing to talk to herself, but actually that was her orange Bluetooth in her ear to which she was communicating. Two stars.

Food in microwave.

After 1-wk of Motel 6's & their paper thin walls, this Quality Inn was a breath of fresh air for…read moreme. Pros: * Price. $48 as a walk-in, with a AAA discount, when I stayed in mid-April 2019. I was paying more for dicey TX M6's. * Super comfy king bed & warm comforter & really quiet, ahh! There was a large burn hole in my top sheet, but again, coming from a week at M6's, I can be forgiving. Double sliding curtains... 1 a black out curtain & the other to allow light in but allow privacy... a nice touch. * WiFi was great once I asked the front desk to reset the router. Staff even came to the room to ensure I could connect once it was reset (my room phone didn't work). All staff was very nice... it's a family owned hotel, they seem to enjoy their guests & are great with customer service. * Small fridge, microwave, plenty of space, quick working wall a/c-heater, alarm clock, in room coffee pot, but only 1 decaf & 1 regular packet. They do offer free b'kfast from 6-9am. * Washer/dryer in hotel, if you need it. Outdoor pool, but I came to sleep, so I didn't see it. * There is a flat screen TV, but no premium movie channels. * Convenient location off MI Hwy 49. Several gas stations nearby & if you're into fast food, there's plenty in this small town, from Subway to Huddle House to a Krystal's next door that you can reach via a 10-second walk. * Safe, quiet 'hood... I'm unsure why another poster said it was a dicey 'hood. I don't know where he lives, but I'm thinking he's never even driven through some of the genuinely dicey 'hoods I've lived in, in varying inner cities. Nothing 'hood about this area. Cons: * Room was slightly overlooked in the housekeeping dept. Nothing horrible, but since my room phone wasn't working & I needed to call the front desk to reset the router, I had to pull away the nightstands on either side of the bed to see if it were disconnected & there was a candy wrapper, used Kleenex & dust behind them. Still, couldn't get the phone to work so I had to call the front desk on my cell. * Lots of lighting, but several of the bulbs are fairly low wattage, so not very useful. Still, there were 5 lamps to make up for it. Overall, a really restful stay, which is all I wanted. Solid 3.75* out of 5. Minus a bit for the room glitches, but because they happily took care of any & all, that excellent customer service made a huge difference. I doubt I'll be back this way, but I'd definitely stay again.

My wife would not stay again.

Had a buddy over the second night and he was wowed at how nice it was! The room also had a microwave AND a small fridge, which was VERY handy to store snacks/drinks! The bathroom was very clean, the tub is one of the old kind with three knobs, one to set from shower to bath, and separate knobs for hot and cold water. It took a bit of finagling to figure it out, but water was nice and hot! I suspect that this hotel was once the mainstay for Mcgee. It had a King-sized bed with a nice vinyl or leather chair next to it-very comfortable! The price was right at about forty-six twenty a night if I remember correctly, less than half what the Holiday Inn Express just south on Highway 49 was charging. I was able to stay there two nights for less than what one would have cost at the Holiday Inn! The staff was very friendly and Pete, the manager, even hand-carried a copy of my bill to my room when I misplaced it! Gloria, the attendant the next day, was very friendly and attentive as well! There were several restaurants ranging from Mcdonald's to Pizza Hut to a Chinese buffet within EASY driving distance-I found the fact that the Hotel was located on a smaller strip of road by HWY 49 very convenient as I didn't have to deal with the stress of getting out on the main highway to go eat-though I almost turned into the wrong lane one night! Like the previous review, if you are looking for a basic, no-frills yet economical and comfortable place for your base of operations, this is the place for you! I will be staying there again when I return during the summer!

The gym had so many options to choose from. The complimentary breakfast had a lot of variety, and the hot dishes changed each day I am a Hilton Honors member, and I always appreciate it when they acknowledge that. In my room they had the TV turned on, and it had a neat message welcoming my by name to their hotel Some tips: Definitely take advantage of the complementary breakfast. I was thoroughly impressed by the options. The gym is a nice place to unwind, and there are weights, machines, yoga gear, and even towels in a refrigerated area. Although I didn't try it, the outdoor pool looked inviting. And there is also an area to play pool and other games. When you arrive or depart the hotel grab some complimentary popcorn, warm cookies, or bottled water. The staff is more than happy to oblige Cheers!!

Military & Government Travelers avoid this property!…read more I stayed at this hotel while traveling on official government assignment. My assignment was unexpectedly canceled on the final day, forcing a change in departure timing. I checked out approximately 30 minutes past the posted checkout time. All of my luggage had already been removed from the room and I was in the process of leaving the property. Despite this, the manager refused any flexibility and charged me for an additional full night. I contacted Hilton corporate customer service and was advised that the decision was entirely at the discretion of the individual property's management and ownership. I fully understand hotels have policies. However, anyone familiar with military or government travel knows schedules and orders can change without warning and are not within the traveler's control. A 30-minute overage, with a vacant room, resulting in a full additional night's charge shows a lack of reasonable accommodation and customer consideration. If you are military or a government contractor traveling on orders, I strongly recommend avoiding this property.

The staff I will say are great and try to help with what they can. The first room I checked into was so hot and filthy, I had to request a room change. Not sure why I was given a handy accessible room with a broken faucet, dirty floors and dirty walls. I know it's been hot lately (78F) but the AC units don't seem to keep up in this building at all. The temps in the rooms barely budge lower and sometimes even creep up! Also power seems to be unreliable as it goes out at least once a day! Building looks a little neglected with lots of hallway lightbulbs not working, and just small issues like paint and cracks on doors. At first glance everything will look fine until you start looking more closely. Breakfast is just your usual complimentary fare of eggs and bacon, bagels, yogurt, juice and coffee. You can make yourself some mini waffles with syrup if that's your preference. I did enjoy the coffee very much. Couldn't access the pool as the room cards don't seem to unlock the gate and staff don't really know why. Wifi is also very spotty at this location as I regularly get disconnected for 30-60 minutes at a time. No water is provided so you'll have to get your own. Showers are nice and large with nice smelling soaps. Unfortunately, no moisturizing lotions but Jackson is fairly humid so you might not need. Beds are large and comfortable with those terrible hotel pillows. It's kind of your no frills residential hotels for a decent price.

UNPROFESSIONAL is the word of the day. To start off I stay at Holiday Inn Express locations all…read moreover the South, due to traveling for work. I am a loyal IHG member and have been for quite some time. Yesterday evening I arrived at the location in Magee, MS at approximately 21:30. I was absolutely exhausted from a long day of work only to greeted at the front desk by "Mary". I stated to Mary that I had a small trailer and there were no available spots in the parking lot, so I parked along the curb within the parking lot, and that I was well out of the way for other patrons. She immediately rushed around the counter and stated, "I will show you where to park!". After walking outside, she made several comments about my choice of a parking spot then asked if I had a reservation and if not, I should go to the Best Western across the street. Mind you I drive a pick-up truck and was pulling a ten-foot trailer, not an 18-wheeler!!!! I told Mary I would like to stay at this location due to have making a reservation the day prior, she stated "well you are going to have to park elsewhere". I then loaded my luggage back into my truck parked across the street at Bojangles. After returning to the front desk, I asked Mary if I could please check in. She was still not having it; she began to get very verbally upset and told me I was going to be arrested for parking next to the curb. Just to be noted that it was not posted by any signage nor, was it marked as a fire lane. After listening to her rant and rave I became very confused about the situation, I mentioned to Mary that I was a police officer for eleven years (truthful statement) and suggested that she became more familiar with the legal statutes and codes in her area before she threatens to have her customers arrested for parking in an unrestricted area. Mary did not like this and raised her voice and stated "Then you try it!!!! Try it!!!!" She then handed me my room key and told me to have a good night in a very sarcastic manner. Not once was I ever agitated nor argumentative and stated to her multiple time that I did not want to argue with her. THIS WAS INSANE I thought to my self as I wonder down the hall to my room with my head spinning of what just took place. Fast forward to breakfast this morning, I was greeted by a lovely couple who witnessed the incident, and they expressed how insane and uncalled for it was. I was so thankful I was not the only one who witnessed the outrageous and unprofessional actions of Mary. I never write reviews and understand this is quite wordy but pay attention to who is behind the desk when you check in and if it is Mary, you are better off sleeping in your car at a gas station then dealing with her.
