We had a great time spending our first Little Black Creek Halloween camping trip this weekend. For…read morethe last 10 years we've gone to Flint Creek and stayed in the cabins. Cabin 14 at Little Black Creek apparently updated their beds and they were sooooooo comfortable! Some of the best sleep I've gotten while camping! Our cabin mates weren't able to come up with us due to work so they came up on Saturday morning. Early. They said the women in the office was rude to them and charged them to get in, even though they told her they paid for the cabin. They said she even shook her finger at them when they tried to tell her. Friday I went into the office and the ladies that I spoke with were very kind. Must've been two different people. The Halloween festivities were ok. The costume contest was super fun and our kiddos really enjoyed the bounce houses. We were super excited for the parade and I even called to make sure the parade passed in front of our cabins to which the lady in the office replied "yes it just started they will be passing in front the cabins in about 15 minutes." We waited and waited and waited. Finally another camper told us it was over and people were trick or treating. Bummer. Now we were over 40 minutes late trick or treating and it was getting dark. Towards the end of our trick or treating people were out of candy and it was pitch black. People in gold carts were zooming on the roads with loud music (and obvious drinking). Our first experience didn't deter us from booking next year. We still had a great time. We just know better for next year about the parade.

Its an recreational hot-spot with a range of different activities such as camping, hiking, boating, water skiing, BBQ-ing, fishing, hunting and has its own marina at one of its campgrounds and a few cabins are available as well. The day-use parks have picnic tables and basic facilities and some of them also have sandy beaches for swimming access. This is where I would go when wanting to grill in the backwoods and do some out door activities and relax with a few brews at hand. The lake is a great place to relax and reflect and simply enjoy the country. Enjoy!

The lake was huge and has boat ramps. We saw some locals fishing on the lake. There are also plenty of trails available for hiking and mountain biking. We only had time to explore one of the trails in the woods and were lucky enough to see so many wild lives such as deer, armadillos and fireflies! I would be here daily if I live in Meridian.

There are also miles of trails / mountain bike trails in the woods surrounding the water that is decently maintained and marked. The trails remind me of a Lone Star Trail or Huntsville State Park and are easy enough for a family to walk through but interesting enough to mountain bike or trail run through. It smells like the piney woods and still feels wild enough inside the forest to make it fun and interesting. We saw a bunch of wildlife; deer, armadillos, fireflies, etc on the hike and did not get to explore all of it. There's also boat launches and easy and free public parking. A great spot if you're ever in Meridian or if you live here, you better be here 5 times a week.
