Overall a nice place to stay if you're in town. The place is quiet. The rooms are clean. For the price you cannot complain. The pool is small though so definitely not a place to go if you're looking for an entire baseball team to stay at. The breakfast was typical continental style. There was nothing on their site stating there is a max weight for a dog. We drove 5 hours from MN to get rejected by the desk clerk. I had sent them a message ahead of time to let them know I had a dog and there was no question about his size. I have stayed at 2 other Quality Inns and had no issues with my St Bernard. I often hear other dogs barking in rooms and mine doesn't make a sound. The guy behind the desk had no compassion and wouldn't explain the reason. He just said you can't stay here! read more

We will never stay at this hotel ever again. My wife and I came to stay in order to attend my aunt's funeral. We called ahead to make sure this hotel was pet friendly since we needed to bring our kitten with us. We travel with her in her large travel cage with a litter box and food and water. They explained on the phone that there would be an additional $40 pet charge, which was fine, but we found out at checkin that the hotel requires $40 pet fee plus $100 hold in addition to the $100 hold they take for the room. When we arrived to check in the young man at the desk had us sign an unbelievably long document detailing their pet policy. It had to be initialed in like 12 places and signed at the bottom. Basically the document stated if there is any evidence that a pet was in the room even a strand of fur left on a sheet they will keep the additional $100 hold. Which makes me wonder what the additional $40 was for then. Also I wondered how do they tell the difference between a strand of human hair and a strand of pet fur. We read over their excessive document and initialed signed the bottom. He then proceeded to charge our card for 2x $100 holds, and the $40 per fee, our card was charged for the room already when we booked it. Holds don't bother me but they should be upfront about them when you call to ask. Then he asked us what kind of pet, we said it's a kitten, and then he asked what kind of breed and we weren't sure. But this didn't seem like small talk, it just seemed like more intrusive questions to a paying customer. It would have been nice to know that there were extensive rules regarding pets and that basically they could keep your $100 hold for a single strand of fur on a sheet. The general checkin process was not welcoming, we were not told what the check out time was or what time breakfast was served or ended. We were in a hurry to get checked in so we could get to the ceremony. We did find out that check out was at 11am. Our air conditioner was making a loud squealing noise every hour or so that would wake us up, but we dealt with it because we didn't want to try and change rooms in the middle of the night. The next morning we slept in and called the front desk at 10:20 am to ask if they would grant a late check out. The same young man from the night before very rudely told us no because they were full that night and they had to clean the entire hotel. He then asked how much time we needed, we said an hour. He said he could only do 30 minutes, and then said that if we go 15 minutes past or even 5 minutes past 11:30 that they would charge us for an additional full night. So that was the second time that they threatened us to charge us more. I told my wife let's just get the hell out of here. She took a shower and I skipped mine, and packed our items. My wife dropped off the key cards 5 minutes after 11am. She made sure to talk to the young man even though they had a checkout card drop bucket and a bell, she rang the bell so she could say we were out and he came out and checked her out without even saying thank you or asking how our stay was. We were never even slightly rude to him but he was very rude to us every time we interacted with him. Later we checked online and the hotel was not fully booked for that night. Also there were ants in the room, and black mold on the floor of the bathroom near the tub from what looked like water damage. Horrible experience, very rude and unprofessional demeanor from the young man at the desk. Update: they never refunded the second $100 hold so we had to dispute it with our credit card in order to get our money back. We won the payment dispute. read more

I stayed there for a couple weeks for work. My first night there, I killed a roach, but didn't see any more after that. I live in hotels on the road. From my point of view, the place is just overpriced. My room was relatively comfortable, the TV channels selection was nothing to scream about and the breakfast was the same stuff over and over. Absolute shit hole. We walked into the room and it smelled like a mix of curry and shit it gave me a headache. My baseball teammates and coaches also did. Actually one of them smelled like cigars. The door on the outside doesn't have a lock so anyone can just come in. The workers were decently nice but that doesn't make up for how much of a shit hole this place is. There was bed bugs when I woke up there was a bug that crawled across my bed. The third floor that I stayed on smells like cigarettes, Dior sauvage, shit, and curry. The whole place smells like cigarettes and shit in general. The beds were uncomfortable, the rooms were dirty asf, my freinds window had a huge crack in it, the drinks In the vending machine looked like they had to be from 1965, the pool was tiny, the hot tub which is supposed to be the only good part about the hotel, the breakfast was ass, the shower sucked ass as well it was either burning hot freezing cold and make a annoying loud sound, the toilet clogged from like 5 pieces of toilet paper that thing had to be like 50 dollars, the pool window was cracked, the walls looked horrible, I can't think of one good thing about this place. This place was NOT "quality" inn status. For $125 we got a king size bed in a twin size room. 4 small pillows and no extras available. Bathroom was SMALL. bathtub had a dirty dark brown spot in it. Pool was closed, based on other reviews its been closes a long time. Looks more like a storage space than pool. So bad it was kinda funny. Could not be more disappointed with the continental breakfast. While on travel that is just about the most important thing to me the next morning for convenience. Covid is going on right now so there is a sign down there that says due to that sorry, no hot breakfast items will be served. Only coffee, juices, cereals, and pastries. Fine. But if you are going to do just that... THEN HAVE IT. There were mishapen tiny bagels, no so cream cheese, peanut butter and jellies, no bread, and the only pastries were 3 mini choc donuts. I had to change my morning by going out for breakfast, instead of having a service I thought I had already paid for. read more

Too bad I had to even put one star. The room smelled like smoke, they charge you for safe usage and then don't refund it. Breakfast was cold and rubbery, and the pool was ICE cold. Guests had to ask for breakfast items to be refilled, and most of the time they were out of items-of course they blamed the distributor and not themselves. Coffee is only available at breakfast time. The bathroom door didn't close. Screens were ripped almost throughout the building. Carpets were also ripped in our room. Totally disgusted with it, but couldn't leave and lose money. Well I was going to give this place 5 stars, but breakfast was terrible so I dropped one star. Overall, it was above average. Here are the reasons.... 1. Location is not touristy like, but at least it's close to all the touristy places. It's literally less then 10 minutes from the museums, ports, parks, etc. It's located next to some rundown warehouse. 2. Everything seemed maintained and clean. Our rooms were nice. Beds were comfy. Hot water. Really no complaints for the price. 3. Breakfast was terrible. The sausages were cold. All they had were the cheap eggs and sausages. It was not even lukewarm warm. I understand the rooms were cheap, but the sausages were plain nasty. Other then that, the coffee was good. They do need lids that fit tightly with the cups. 4. Price was the cheapest that had good reviews on Yelp. My wife originally reserved the Quailty Inn in East Dubuque. The reviews there were sketchy after I read them in Yelp so we switched to this one. We paid 79.00. They are pet friendly and there is a charge for that. I think 20.00. But they forgot to charge us according to my wife that paid for it. read more

For a $60/night hotel, you get what you pay for. Place was pretty dated, and the customer service was subpar. That being said, the room was clean, there's a pool and hot tub, and hot breakfast is included with your stay. The only reason I'm giving 3 Stars is because I didn't expect more for how little we paid. A group of us were traveling to Dubuque to spend a day at Sundown, so we weren't looking for anything fancy. Pulling in, it's not much of a looker. Parking lot is small and dark, and it's next to a warehouse. Walking into the lobby, it definitely felt old. When I checked in I was disappointed the weren't able to honor either of the requests I made with my reservation (having a room near others in our party or being on the top floor). Our room on the second floor was adequate. Unfortunately, they put us right by the elevator, so it was both small and there was some noise that came through the walls from the elevator. Also, there was a high pitched ringing sound that came and went intermittently. The elevator also had issues as the next time I tried to use it, I got in and it wouldn't let me select a floor and the doors stayed open. I let the front desk know, and their response was "Oh, it needs to be reset again," so clearly a recurring problem. Needless to say, I took the stairs after that. The next morning, we headed down to check out the breakfast. While not the most flavorful, the eggs, sausage, and waffles were fine. Plus there was a nice assortment of yogurt, muffins, breads, and cereal. All in all, it was an ok stay. The hotel isn't a far drive from downtown or other attractions which is nice. While I'm not clamoring to go back, it would be hard to find somewhere to beat the price. If you're looking for a budget option and recognize that the price will match the service/amenities, this is a fine option. read more

One of the worst hotel experiences of my entire life. My family and I checked in, got our room, put our luggage in our room, and went to go check out local tourist attractions. When we got back, the door to our room was jammed. The hotel itself was very old and we didn't feel safe residing there anyways. When we asked for a refund, the best they could do was move us to another room. The attendant seemed detached and didn't care much about what we were saying. After we got our new room (which smelt of BO), we read other reviews online of people who also had terrible experiences. There was also a door on the ground floor of the hotel that was unlocked throughout the entire night that goes directly to the rest of the hotel, and no it was not the lobby door. Our entire stay was unpleasant and terrifying. If you are in Dubuque, do not stay at this hotel. read more

I swear to God the do not disturb sign was not on my door. Apparently even though I told the guy at the counter when I checked in 5am & at 9am when we told a different guy at the lobby we were checking out with our rm# & keys in the room. The do not distub" sign not on door when I complain to the do not disturb sign was not on my door & I had a room reserved for only one day several days after checkout when I saw duplicate charge I then a week had to facebook message & email customer service because they wanted to charge me unless I called the manager who never returned my five calls or 4 emails I still have as proof. I'm a good person & I deserve NOT TO BE RIPPED OFF. I always even leave a generous tip for housekeeping with a personalized & signed thank you note respectfully on the pillow. Pfft. If nothing else housekeeping should have seen the cash & note making the rounds when cleaning my room even if both other male counterman & express checkout system failed me. So ridiculous it makes me laugh out loud. I don't have a dog but I easily looked past the dog poop. I've complained on 2 out of 100 hotel reviews which otherwise I try to make gleaming with very reasonable expectations easily searchable if you don't believe me. I wish someone cared about a good new customer that stays in their town 3 nights a week for about a year & a half:since October 2016. Yes, it's an older building but it doesn't show to much. The floors/ceilings are concrete which is great when cancelling out noise. Overall, for the price I paid, I was satisfied. The bathrooms were very small, and the eggs with continental breakfast were not the best tasting. But other than that, everything was great! This was one of, if not THE worst places we have ever stayed at. Don't believe what you read on their website. When checking in, the person helping us thought they messed up and gave our room away which we booked months ago. The room was dirty and in terrible condition. We had to run downstairs to ask for toilet paper, (no extra rolls were in the room), our coffee pot was left uncleaned and unstocked, as well and numerous other items we expected to be replaced after use. Breakfast was not well stocked so they were out of many items. The pool ladder was broken, there was a hole in the floor in the hallway, a stain on the table that was never cleaned since we stayed there, and rice on the floor which we never ate. The maid didn't pull our door shut so we would come back to an open room, and when I finally lost it and complained I was told they would see about giving us a discount, only to find out we were charged MORE because we used the safe. Only one person who helped us was sympathetic and helpful, the others could care less about our disappointment. I will NEVER stay at a Quality Inn again. Beyond disappointed. read more

Sold me a king nonsmoking room. Opened the door 5 minutes later to a double queen room. Immediately contacted front desk and explained it was not what I had agreed to, then went down to turn the keys in and get my money back. Front desk attendant (same one who sold me the king room) told me I would have to pay for it anyway since she had "taken it off the books". I explained that A) it hadn't been used and B) that it was not what she had sold me . She said I would have to wait and see if the manager would cancel it in the morning. I convinced her to give me a copy of the receipt, then drove to Hampton Inn a mile away and got the king I wanted, at the same price, with better personnel and better amenities. After checking in, I called customer support for Choice Hotels and spoke to someone who spoke horrid English. After numerous request for him to slow down, speak up, and enunciate, he hung up on me. Called back and got someone with marginally better English who only half listened and half understood what the issue was. After telling me he could do nothing he told me to call the hotel in the morning to see if a manager would cancel the reservation. I wasn't about to wait for morning to see if anything was going to be done, I asked for his supervisor three times before he actually sent me to a sup. Her English was understandable for the most part, and after explaining the situation for the fourth time, she put me on hold to check, and came back and told me she couldn't help because it had already been canceled. After asking 3 times, I finally got a confirmation number for the cancellation and a promise of a confirmation email. Hopefully the email shows up shortly so I don't have to start the process over. If this was my first bad experience with Quality Inn, I would write it off as just one of this things. Unfortunately, this is the third in three trips. It used to be a good company to do business with, but in the last 24 months it has gone to pot. Sad to see it diminish so badly. read more

We had a block of 6 rooms reserved on the 3rd floor. 4 out of the 6 rooms had major problems with the air conditioners. Calling the 800 number on the air conditioner went to a call center that said a maintenance person would be on the way to fix the issues. No one ever showed up, and calling the Quality Inn corporate number keeps you on hold for 20+ minutes, and has an endless loop where they will let the hotel manager "know there is a problem" and will call you back. No one has ever called me. The bottom of the pool has a very rough texture where several children but there feet. The doors going into the hotel are not secure. The key card access is broken, allowing anyone to come in the sides, and the front door cannot fully close because of concrete issues. Our family has been staying here for years, and we will not be back due to the apparent change of ownership recently that will not maintain the hotel. read more

We were displeased with our stay to say the least. The swimming pool only had ladders (not the biggest deal, we handed the kids in) but one of the ladders was loose and moved when you climbed in. It also had duct tape over two spots and was missing a step. After swimming our 6month old was cold so we went to turn on the heat in the room to 70. The smoke alarm instantly went off and the room smelt like burning hair. In order to air out the room we had to leave the hallway door open because the Windows wouldn't open! The shower water had a strange smell to it, the chairs at the table had stains and the breakfast was mediocre (very limited and not the best tasting). The back exit also had a broke latch and it was a pain to open. If there was an emergency, people would struggle to get it open! read more
