It is as bad as the reviews say. I don't know why so many people care about the pool, but you do you. I found a deal rate for the same night and booked while on the road without reading the reviews. Good things: - excellent parking lighting. Can park right outside my room to keep an eye on the car. - lots of shelves in the prefab shower. - The shower is actually pretty okay. - The bed is actually comfortable. That's all. I assume they keep this place as shitty and gross as they can get away with because the clientele is a one and done base; people will always come to Yellowstone and they will always stay here because it's dirt cheap, so the owner and staff don't have to worry about pleasing anyone because they never have to think about a repeat customer. The front door is more like an old gas station door than a hotel entrance. It's two glass doors, almost completely blacked out with window tint. It doesn't look like you've come to the Quality Inn, it looks like you've come to the strip club... but a really seedy one on the wrong street. It's in the same building as a bar and a Mexican restaurant. The covered parking for check in is an afterthought and barely had space for my Tacoma. The inside did not get better. I work in oil and gas and have stayed in some run down hotels as well as small town motels and hostels throughout the west and the world. I don't have much of an ick factor but this one has me on high alert tonight - I brought in my knife to put on my bedside table and put a chair against the door. I have only ever done that once. The exterior doors (again, think gas station entry door) were propped open with a rock into the night. My room has no chain because someone has busted it out and the hotel didn't replace it (but they patched the hole as though it didn't need to be there). The key card door machinery is obviously recent and the doors do not secure well. The latch on mine is loose in the receiving hole. One room's door even has a gap at the top where the door doesn't fill the frame, it's been cut for some reason (this is a fire hazard for that room and may be out of code). There's no sound insulation in the building. There are motorcycles in the parking lot that someone decided to start up at 10pm and they're sitting there doing the Harley bathtub drain thunking which echoes in the windows. There are also semis in the parking lot and inevitably we'll hear that too, though I am very grateful to be on the non-interstate side of the building. There are two "security cameras" in the hallway that are plugged in just underneath, so nefarious actors could easily unplug or just destroy them. I seriously doubt they are real; there are cables hanging down that have nothing connected to them. Cute, I guess. I very seriously doubt the housekeeping here. My towels were heaped in a (folded) pile on the shelf and two had dirty smudges on them. I had 4 lotions, 2 conditioner, no shampoo and no soap. Again, I did something else I never do - checked for bed bugs. The mattress is dark tan which means very poor opportunity to find them. I wore my flip flops the entire time I wasn't in bed. I'm a crunchy girlie who skirts in a floorless tent and usually do yoga in hotels; definitely not here. The chairs are both upholstered and old and nasty. I wish I'd brought my own pillow. I might burn my sleep clothes (not actually but I'll not put them anywhere that will give me a bed bug headache). So.... Stay at your own risk. That is all. read more

The shower had hairs in it, the wall by the toilet wasn't very clean and there was a dirty towel on top of the shelf of the closet. The room itself was spacious but we just wish it was cleaner. There also wasn't a very great selection for breakfast in the morning and there was no staff in the lobby/breakfast area. read more

The cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. I had to have them come vacuum the room right at check in. I was going to ignore the trash crumpled and on the floor but couldn't ignore the potato chips on the floor next to the bed. Ick. The balcony was full of cigarette butts and needed a good sweeping. Only one coffee cup, no shampoo but three conditioners. Whole place is worn but that would be ok if it were clean. Dust on the ice machine was several months old. read more

This was a terrible place. The room was in poor repair and needed a deep clean. There was no hot water for the shore which was probably OK since the tub was moldy. The building looked to be used by full time renters and there was at least one car with flat tires in the lot. The pool was not open, and the breakfast was unattended and in disarray. Room was clean but the beds were awful. The hot water was barely warm enough for a shower. Breakfast was minimal and there was nothing restocked at 8:00 when we arrived to the breakfast room even though it says until 9:00. The trash in the breakfast room was overflowing onto the floor and they walked past it and completely ignored it. We were disappointed to see that the pool was closed, even though it was too cold to swim. We specifically picked hotels with pools during our trip so we expected it to have a pool. The pool looked like it had not been open in a very long time and was in bad disrepair, so they should not advertise that they have a pool. Overall this place could use some work. read more

My experience last night was pleasant and quiet-the kind I appreciate. Truck parking, or at least enough space available. Both rooms assigned were ground floor which I also appreciate as two heavy luggages are carried. Comfortable beds and nice layout of the rooms. read more

The worst hotel and management in America. We booked on Hotels.com. Showed up, in the rain. The employee or managers car was in carport so we had to get out in the rain. Then lobby was locked by tying electrical cord around internal door handles, which aside from being a major fire code violation, indicated the business is closed. All lights out but nonsensical note on door to call and step to the right window (in pouring rain and someone would check you while you waited there in the rain. Of course, no answer on phone. Called hotels.com to cancel. Huge hassle. Would not refund money. We had already booked another hotel during the 30 minutes we waited for hotels.com to tells they would open the lobby for us. We went to the hampton inn down the street which was lovely and well worth the few bucks extra. This Quality Inn in Buffalo WY insists on charging a cancellation free of one night for this obnoxious fiasco. I will dispute it on Amex and will post comments like it's my job, so i hope the 80 buck is worth it. These morons have no undertanding of the hospitality concept of their business. There is reason that doors are to remain unlocked during business hours, people die if they are not. If they cannot follow the most basic laws and regulations of running a business, one can only imagine how the sanitary condition are managed. Would you have breakfast there? Probably not. We wouldn't and didn't. I am contacting the franchisor as well. These owners have no business running any hospitality facility. read more

Probably one if the worst places I have stayed in. However, I must say the owners/staff were welcoming and helpful. Also, the hotel is pet friendly which was a plus. The gym doesn't even have one cardio machine. The evening I arrived I was offered cookies that were "freshly" baked but the next evening when I inquired about the cookies I was told they are only baked in the mornings (oh really!!!). The rooms were average but the bathroom was not thoroughly cleaned, there were stains behind the toilet. read more

I drove five hours to get here to see *no air conditioning and no pool. While I did book for the pool I am not too concerned about that however, the AC is a not negotiable. The owner is apparently not offering refunds. I cannot sleep in this hot room and it is a waste of time and money. An email or warning would have been nice as well. I feel so so bad for the front desk staff that has to deal with this. The owner should just do what is right and issue refunds. Sending bad karma their way. We have used "Choice" (their term) Hotels for over 17 years. In fact, we are Choice Privileges Gold Members. That is over. (It was actually over as of my experience trying to make this reservation, but this hotel cinches it!) We arrived at the motel and realized immediately that it was not our usual - and "favorite" - Choice Hotel, the one where we had stayed previously. This was a 'Quality' Inn, an entirely different place: a shabby gray stucco building with an uninviting lobby. (The other was a Comfort Inn). There was: - Mildew all around the tub. (Photo) - No drain mechanism in either sink or tub: the tub drain was on the bathroom floor (photos). Classy! - NO TELEPHONE IN THE ROOM. (They promised to bring one, but did not.) - Thick dust on the bureau and headboard in the room. ...which I removed. (See photo pf cloth) - Poor repair and general shabbiness (Photo of paint conditions) - Thin walls allowed the neighbors' TV to be heard....until 3 AM! - The antiquated A/C made a tremendous noise...& either over or undercooled: no adequate temperature control. - The smallest TV I've ever seen in a nearly $100 room! - No hot tub... just a (cold!) outdoor pool. - The desk clerk gave us an Internet password on check-in, but warned that we 'probably wouldn't be able to connect'. She was correct. Choice Hotels has gone into a steep decline: a recent experience in Phoenix was also awful with 3/4 size beds (I measured) in our "queen" room: they had no king rooms. Their response? "That's what we call a queen!". (That is what we call a lie.) This will be our last stay in any Choice hotel. "Ba-Ba-Book".....Elsewhere! The reservation process: Clearly, 'Choice' no longer wishes to speak to you on the phone. Bad enough, but their computer is incapable of understanding city and state names! It never did get it right, but refused to turn me over to an agent, insisting I answer, "one more question": the answer to which it was also incapable of understanding. (I speak unaccented American English.) I ultimately got an agent who insisted that the prices were $15 more than advertised on their "new, improved" - and entirely inadequate - app! I finally gave up and used the app....where the prices were now, amazingly, ALSO $15 higher!! Worse, there was no way of knowing that the hotel I was booking was not the same one we had previously booked multiple times. (That one was no longer listed. They must have insisted on excellence as it turned out it has left the franchise.) All in all, it was a relationship ending experience, start to finish! "OUR" Comfort Inn is now part of Best Western....just where it always was and still managed by charming people who are meant to be in the hospitality business. I was correct: Choice Hotels got stupid and our friendly hotel in Buffalo, WY left the franchise! But they're still there....go to Best Western to find them! read more

Booked a room here for two nights. Called 2 weeks ago prior to reservation to see if the outdoor pool was open. Was told it was not ready yet but would be open soon. Called 1 week prior to the reservation and was told the same thing. Booked the hotel as it was one of the only ones in town with an outdoor pool. Arrived on site for reservation, place was empty. Room was not available even though there was ONE CAR in the parking lot. Pool closed, breakfast closed. Hotel exterior is in good condition. Rooms are a completely different story. Run down, old, musty, paint chipping. I stayed in the room for approx 1 hour before checking out and heading to the nearby Hampton Inn which is a GREAT CLEAN hotel. Pool was open by appointment to adhere to COVID regulation and breakfast was served by hotel staff in a clean, safe way with socially distanced tables. The room was big, clean and excellent. Do yourself a favor and pay a little bit more to stay somewhere else! read more

Good inexpensive hotel if you have a pet. We did notice a little smoke odor in the room but not overbearing. Stayed two nights.

The hotel is comfortable, but dated and in need of repairs. Examples being the smell of smoke, perhaps from "smoking rooms", which was overwhelming when the bathroom fan was on, and a soap dispenser in the loby bathroom that doesn't work. Normally, I would not care about a inoperable soap dispenser. However, the front desk was notified, but it did not work the following day, and the sign stating "Employees must wash hands before returning to work", provided for concerts about the "Continental breakfast", since I consider a nonfunctional soap dispenser a public health risk. read more

Horrible experience! Upon checkin I was adv the room I was being assigned was not what was comfirmed(a ground mon-smoking). When I questioned the clerk(nassir) he was totally unconcerned or interested. I asked who the mgr was and he said it was he. I asked who the owner was and he said it was he. First off let me say if I had the experience of the review posted below, I'd rate it much lower. Our experience was perfectly fine for an inexpensive motel. The motel is being worked on and there were some minor issues like the pool not working, but most of the fixtures were brand new and the interior of the room we had was functional. Although the current owner bought this as an existing all-smoking room motel, the room didn't smell like smoke at all. Toby at the front desk was great. read more

This was WAY overpriced for as run down as it was. The pool was freezing even in August, and the water was cold. My granddaughter had to get out after only an hour. The staff was nice and professional, room was clean and we had lots of pillows. Very fast internet. No elevators so we were glad to be on the bottom floor so we didn't have to drag luggage upstairs. However, people stood outside yakking and it was somewhat annoying. Very close to the main road so we heard traffic untill about 10 pm when the town closed up. The breakfast was very nice and included meat, eggs, waffles and so oh. I paid almost $200 for a double room. NOT worth it. read more
