Let's be honest, it's a Quality Inn. Is it luxury? No. Is it decrepit like the 1-stars reviews suggest? Also no. Lobby is clean and welcoming. They have a small continental breakfast. Pool looked maintained. Beds and room were clean. Non-carpet flooring (big plus for me). Staff were kind. Ice and vending machines worked. Pillows were small. Bathroom shower and toilet look stained due to age and had a slightly musty smell. AC in our friend's room seemed to be dying. It's a Quality Inn. Good afternoon, I just want others to know this is not what they advertised. It started within 20 minutes after check-in. I get it, you get what you pay for. But at $170 a night i assumed that it was a decent place to sleep and get back on the road. I had to change my room twice. The first time was due to the room smelling of mildew and the sheets where wet. The staff brought a dehumidifier down and asked if we could let it run for one hour and see if that helps. Remember the sheets where wet also. Finally the staff offers to move us. We got a room on the first floor due to having back issues. They no longer had rooms on the first floor So now I had to repack and carry my luggage to the second floor. Yes, carry my luggage they had no elevator. Room two. We carry the luggage up two flights of stairs with no help or offer from the staff. I took out what we needed and went to get something to eat. After dinner we returned to the hotel, Quality Inn. Try to use the key card and that did not work and it was not abled to be fixed. You guessed it had to repack and move to another room without even the staff offering to help. You would think that they would try to make it right but they did not even offer. So that's my experience staying at the Quality Inn in Exmore, VA. My first and last time read more

These guys modified the receipt after the fact. I didn't stay in the hotel and within 10 minutes of checking turned in my keys... At 1:00 p.m. (check in is at 4:00 p.m.). HOWEVER the receipt online reported to choice was that I stayed overnight. Pay with credit card because you're not getting your money back! read more

Arrived around 6pm, no one at the front desk. Call out, no one answers. Phone the front desk several times, nothing. Wait approx. 10 minutes and a man comes around the corner and apologizes and checks me in. My room (109) smells like mothballs. I turn the AC on and decide go to leave for dinner. Something seems off with the door. Push on the handle, the door opens with no key. Wait to see if it's on so.e kind of timer. Try three or four times, the door doesn't lock. Gather all my stuff, go to the front desk, no one is there. Wait a few minutes. Try calling. Nothing. Take all my stuff back out to my car and leave. Call approx. 15 minutes later, inform them I left and ask for my room to be cancelled. They refuse. Call the 800 number, get bounced around a bit. They tell me I can't cancel, to return to the hotel and they'll give me a new room. Go back, they move me two rooms down. The room doesn't smell, the door works properly. Go in, get comfortable...it's been about an hour. The AC blows about 1 degree cooler than the 80+ degree room. Too tired for a fight. Never again. There is a Hampton Inn and a Holiday Inn Express up the road. Will gladly pay more for them next time. read more

If I could give thus place 0 stars I would!!!!!! We booked a 2 double bed room. After my husband checked us in we started carrying our stuff up the stairs because they dont have an elevator. We find our room, open the door to 2 SINGLE SIZE BEDS! for 4 people they tried to tell us they where doubles! Ha!!! My 3 year old and 13 year old could barely fit on 1!!! So they asked us if we would like to upgrade to a king with a pull out sofa bed which was extra but we had no choice at this point to do it. Also there breakfast and continental breakfast options are a joke!!!!!! The had 3 types of old people cereal that my kids won't eat a bowl of mealy apples a waffle maker that needed to be sterilized, and some cheap ass yogurt that was runny and it taste like chalk!!!! No muffin or donut options what so ever! Not even a pack of oatmeal or grits or something other than a nasty waffle and stale cereal or watered down juice. I didnt even chance trying the coffee! We all went swimming in the pool it was fine if you were in the water they need to spray their outdoor pool area I was sitting in a chair for no more than 5 minutes using my phone and I was bit by deer flies 3 separate times to the point I have welts on my butt and hips!!!! Also it's the middle of summer after traveling for hours and then having to lug all your stuff upstairs at check in they didn't even have any air conditioning on in the rooms so you're basically checking into a sweat box that took hours to cool down!!! Booked a room for one night while on a week long motorcycle trip discovered a bed bug. (I admit that I saw the killer, nothing more) A picture of the bug corpse can be found the photo gallery. We immediately asked for a refund, and left. Finding another motel, at night, on unfamiliar roads, with a storm coming in. Is really stressful and was totally unnecessary. First and foremost, the STAFF earned all 3 of these stars. The woman that checked us in at 1AM was so helpful and pleasant. She really did what she could to accommodate our stay. The first room we stayed in was pretty dirty, so she switch us with no problems. During the complimentary breakfast, we had THE SWEETEST woman helping us. She softened my butter and made our waffle for us! I was just amazed how great she was, it really made my morning. It was so nice to meet someone like her to start the day. As far as the room goes... that's a 1 star, definitely needs some work. read more

Looking at all the other reviews in the last year (6 in total) I cannot see ANY of the problems that was described! They obviously got their act together!! In my opinion, Quality Inn is an above average motel establishment for the vacationing family on a budget (we found a deal online for less than $100 per night) and we've been vacationing for the last 7 years. The room that we got was comfortable and well air-conditioned for the hot summer. The door was conveniently faced outside, right next to where we parked our mini-van, a BIG plus for a family of 4 on a crabbing/fishing vacation. The deal maker was that they accept pets, since our dog is getting up there in age we don't like to leave him at home and finding a place that accepts pets was a must and a hassle to be sure. The staff was always friendly, the complementary breakfast was always fresh, hot and delicious(my sons especially liked the homemade waffles that they themselves can cook!) And to top it all off, the TV cable had MASN and MASN2 for the National and Orioles fanatics like myself!! All in all, our stay was a very pleasant and comfortable experience at the Quality Inn in Exmore!! read more

This is a poorly managed hotel. Please know that the front desk young lady Jackie at all times was courteous, professional, and sympathetic to our situation.  We arrived at the hotel, and were assigned room 105. Jackie gave us 105 because we needed a first floor room because my husband just had knee replacement and this particular hotel does not have an elevator. After we settled in, and took a shower, we pulled back the covers and climbed in, then we saw a urine stain, bright yellow on the bed, then we pulled back the covers and saw many more, and other types of stains. The sheets were filthy. We went to Jackie at the front desk and she changed us to room 107. Room 107 was satisfactory except the bathroom light didn't work, we kept the bathroom door open and made do. We didn't want to complain any more. Jackie advised us that she would make the hotel manager aware of what happened and he would probably do something for us for our inconvenience and upset.  In the morning, I went to check out, and Jackie was on the phone talking to the manager. She said to come back in a few minutes. When i came back I found out that the manager Wayne,  gave us a miserly $10.50 credit for our inconvenience. I felt like I had been slapped in the face.  It let me know right then and there how little he cared for me, the customer.  I called Choice Rewards and told them what happened. I want you to know how Wayne, the manager handles this type of incident. He did not even have the courtesy to speak to me himself. He made the young front desk clerk do all the dirty work. read more

What a nasty ass place. Front desk had a pleasant check in went downhill upon getting to rooms. One was filthy the sink in room had toothpaste and spit splatter on counter top from last guest that brushed tooth. Shower had hair was yukky. Second room mattress smelled of shit. They said was odour from hallway. Has no elevator for second floor. The breakfast was not bad and the person that was in charge of area was awesome. She was friendly pleasant and kept area tidy and neat. I would look elsewhere for a more pleasant stay read more

Reviews of this place are pretty on point. Staff was super friendly at check in and helped us get a last minute room. Checked into room 216 and always check the sheets and pillow cases. Stains everywhere. To the point that we had to request 4 new pillows. They brought up 4 "new" stained pillow cases. At that point we knew we weren't going to get any better than what we had and slept in my clothes. Woke up the next morning and sat down to drop a deuce and was welcomed with a wonderful message written in sharpie under the mirror. F you too quality inn. read more

We were traveling to the outer Banks from Boston Massachusetts on May 25th 2019 . I made a reservation at this hotel and when we got there they were very nice. We stayed in room number 202. There were a lot of flies but we had spray so we killed them. My son woke me up at midnight to tell me something bit him on his face. If I could attach the pictures I would because they are horrible. My son had three extremely large bites on his face and one on his eye. Which back the covers and there were bed bugs which I have pictures of as well. I went downstairs and complained and the woman called the manager Wayne and all we got was another room.they stated the air conditioner was just fixed but it was so hot in there the AC did not work and there was no refrigerator so we had to throw all of our food away. I was supposed to receive a follow-up call from the manager and never did because I wanted a full refund of the $150 that we paid for the room. I have about 30 emails between the company that I made the reservation through and they first only offered me three thousand points towards a free room what you have to have 6000 points to have a free room.I declined that and then they offered me $40 in which I declined and then they offered me $80 and said that is there final offer.they told me I have to call the hotel which I did at least two dozen times to have the manager call me and he never did. I also left messages in regards to a Sprint portable Wi-Fi box that we've left in the room to have them mail it back to us but of course they never responded. We left at 6:30 in the morning on the 25th of May and proceeded on to North Carolina but then we had to stop at a laundromat and wash every single bit of closing that we had. We ended up spending $60 to wash clothes so we did not bring it to the vacation home. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. Extremely poor customer service on the manager's side. read more

This hotels main issue is cleanliness. They have a letter inside their information book that says the hotel is under renovation but I never saw a single construction worker or sign of construction. I can say that the tile floor in the bathroom was new but nothing else is. The bed and bedding was cleaning. The bathroom really lacked in the cleanliness area. There was a wash cloth from a previous occupant hanging on the shower rod. The walls had dirty handprints on them and there was a film of dust on the tv and tables. When the maid came to clean the room the second day she took all the towels and never replaced them. The trash was removed and that was it. The beds were not made and we didn't get more soap. I had to go to the desk to get towels and soap. What I can say is that the bed was comfortable, the breakfast was average. The breakfast was waffles, sausage, eggs, bread, bagels, cold cereal, yogurt and oatmeal. They had coffee, organe juice, and apple juice available. We used the pool and the pool is old but it's not horrible. The water wasn't completely clear but again it was ok. I saw a pool guy there cleaning it each morning and doing the chemicals. Overall if your looking for a place to crash for a couple nights it's good, otherwise I would go for something else. read more

This hotel has very friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean except for some dirty marks on the bedspread. The door in the room looks like someone broke the extra lock right off the door. There's no lock, bit there are holes in the door and door frame where it once was. My main complaint is that there is NO ELEVATOR! I had to carry my luggage up a flight of stairs. What about disabled people or elderly? How are they going to get up the steps? Shower had great water pressure! read more

This hotel should be avoided at all costs. We stayed there for one night on a trip back from the outer banks with our grandson. First we were directed to our "room" however, our "room" number sign was lying face up on the ground by our "room's door. Upon opening the door we found that while we booked two queens we received two doubles. When to the desk to complain the guy just stared at us with this confused look on his face (so wired) didn't say anything. Next we found our room had at least 10 flys in it Finally the breakfast looked terrible and most of the offerings were depleted to the point you would have to wait for staff to refill. When checking out the same desk clerk was still there and he asked be if we enjoyed our stay. I replied "You've got to be kidding me" again we got the confused stare with no reply. This hotel was disgusting. No AC in the halls, no elevator at all. We were here for a big convention, the lady at the front desk said she hoped two couples didn't show bc they overbooked and some of the rooms lost AC. The room we were in felt damp, it had a funky smell as well, and there was only one trashcan. Not even in the bathroom. Another couple had a room that hadn't even been cleaned, there were toenail clippings in the bathroom, trash every where beds weren't made, cob webs in the corners filled with bugs. They had to clean it twice before it was acceptable. Don't stay here if you don't have too. Try the Holiday Inn or the Hampton in down the road. You'll pay more but its worth the cleanliness and over all niceness. read more

Called the Hotel on Tuesday 10/30 to book a 3 night stay at a Government rate. The desk clerk transferred me to reservations. I booked the room for a total of $300.89. When I arrived and went to my room, I found the bathroom counter dirty with dried soap on it. The toilet had black stains in it. Room just not very inviting. I went to front desk to complain and they said they would have someone clean it. I left for lunch and when I got back the bathroom was the same. I went and complained again and the clerk said that someone had been up to clean it. The clerk asked if I wanted to change room and I said yes. The next room was much better but not great. The lobby floor was dirty with dried mud on it and it stayed that way the whole time I was there. Breakfast was OK. When I checked out and asked for a receipt it was for 199.00 for the three day stay. I questioned the difference and the another clerk asked to see it and said I wasn't suppose to see that receipt. I asked why the receipt was for much less. The clerk gave me some story about that is what they get from reservations. Well when the clerk I spoke with on October 30th had transferred me to a reservation company and not the Hotel reservation. DO NOT STAY THERE!!!!! I don't know what went on but in my opinion it was not on the up and up. read more

Possibly the worst hotel/motel we've ever stayed in. Had to find somewhere to stay fast due to unexpected bad storm. Had to lug suitcases ourselves up stairs to our 2nd floor outside room. In the storm. Walked into room. Only bathroom light and one other lamp worked. Floor lamp had whole fixture ripped out, hanging freely with part of broken lightbulb still in socket. Okay. It'll be romantic. Tried to turn on TV with the remote. No worky. Hubs goes down to front desk (outside, in storm), gets new remote batteries. Do they fix remote? Of course not. Hubs looks at open remote, notices someone has broken off and removed all battery contacts. This time I call front desk and ask them to bring new remote. (BTW, cannot work TV without remote). Nice guy brings remote promptly, acts totally surprised and dismayed that lights are broken, etc. Will send note to housekeeping in 3 days (?). New remote works. Two hours later their satellite TV crashes. No more TV. Too dark in room to read. So we go next door to Chinese buffet for some really crappy food. Beds hard as a rock, so after getting some sleep we bolted in the morning as soon as the weather broke enough for an escape. This hotel should be condemned. read more

Was looking forward to six days at the Eastern Shore never having been there. Booked this hotel because the reviews gave it a 7.9 rating and the price was right. Couldn't find the desk clerk. Had to walk all over the hotel looking for her. Then had to wait an hour and a half because our room wasn't ready. Temps in the 90's but couldn't use the pool because it was closed and green. Beds never got made, sheets never changed, bathroom never got cleaned, rug never got vacuumed (looked like it had never been cleaned.) Two little old people came in about 3 pm and brought clean towels and took the dirty ones. That was it! That was the room service. Add to that no elevator, no restaurant, no lounge, no comfortable seating area and a business center which consists of a single computer which doesn't work. Checked out after 3 days. Tried other hotels but all booked due to a conference. Just went home. read more

I'll start by saying if I can give this hotel -10 stars I would, I have been staying at hotels in Exmore Virginia for about 10 years+ I've stayed here previously maybe 5 years ago it wasn't too bad but this is the WORST HOTEL I have been to recently. The room appeared to be semi decent the tub wasn't too clean dust on the television didn't look like anyone had been cleaning but I just wanted to rest I checked in about 11:00pm I was exhausted after a 8hr drive. When I woke up the next morning I was completely covered in bed bug bites(confirmed by my dr) extremely itchy and miserable. I went immediately to the front desk and he did not sound concerned he told me I would have to wait until after check out for the other rooms to be cleaned for anything to be done. I called for the manager and to this date 5 days later he has not contacted me back. AVOID THIS HOTEL DO NOT STAY HERE. Staying here ruined my entire trip and I was forced to take medication the entire weekend because this hotel is dirty, disgusting and infested with bed bugs and according to a lot of the local Exmore residents this hotel has been shut down for bed bugs previously. read more

As soon as we entered our room we had to have housekeeping clean the toilet. It had urine and pubic hairs on it. I actually used a washcloth and wiped the bathroom counter which was disgustingly filthy as well. There were only two bath towels, two washcloths, one hand towel, no bath mat. The shower had soap scum on the walls. Then they the gall to have posted a sign on the back of the bathroom door stating that inventory was monitored closely and you would be charged appropriately if anything was missing. Like anyone would want their crap.I also had to wipe the drawers out before putting clothes inside. The pool was green and murky. The railing around the pool was loose and rusty. The carpets had not been vacuumed. The front counter staff was friendly and helpful. The bedding seemed to be relatively new. But maintenance was lacking to say the least. We paid in advance to get a better rate for two nights. There was no rooms available anywhere else close by. If we weren't there for a memorial service the next day we would have just sucked up our loss and moved on. We did cut our loss on the second night and went home.
