Unprofessional. Manipulative. Inexperienced.
G-H-E-T-T-O. This debacle is the poster child for what gives supporting black businesses a bad rap (sigh, thankfully this was just ONE bad apple).
1. Red Flag #1 - I messaged her, complimenting what "appeared to be"nice work on social media (filters+makeup). Explained what I wanted, She gave me the price of $275. Although every service REQUIRES an initial visit and the touch for it to be complete, she never told me there would be an additional $100...until AFTER SHE FINISHED the touch up. I was taken aback, but paid it.
1st we had an in person consultation in which I made it clear that I wanted the ombré hair stroke look & MOST IMPORTANTLY DID NOT want a solid, black Sharpy marker, drawn-on-tattoo look. However, that's precisely what I got! When it began healing/peeling after a week, I noticed that the result was very black, not brown ink (appeared green in the sunlight) and that I did not have one hair stroke. Trustingly I expressed my concerns & she assured me that she'd fix it on the follow up. Welp, 6 weeks later the follow up visit proved only to worsen the Sharpie marker, completely shaded effect, 1 brow larger than the other, a boldly inked outline that didn't blend & a hard ink DOT stop at the end, AND still not one hair stroke in sight. Unnatural. Although panicking inside, I still trusted again that she could do another session to "color correct" & add hair strokes. So Another painful 6 weeks later, same result. After suffering through months of having this embarrassing look on my face & failed attempts to correct, I consulted with reputable professionals who advised that the brows could not be corrected & would need to be laser removed.
Cue manipulation & drama. I told her that I'd rather her not add more ink to my face in a 4th session & I'd rather defer to laser treatment. She offered 50% refund. I Respectfully disagreed, and she agreed that it was fair to refund 100%, but told me she'd refund it "after the holidays on January 2nd"....a month later, 5 months after I'd paid! Although I thought that was ludicrous, I was too shocked to contest. This lady promised to pay me 5 different times, each time not following through & not making contact with even an excuse or explanation. I reached out after each promise-to-pay date had passed only for her to give me yet a new date. She finally refunded a portion, giving yet another future date to send the balance. When that date came & went, I sent her a Zelle request, she ignored. Sent another request days later, & she responded with an annoyed text stating that she had received 2 Zelle requests & would now pay the following Monday. You guessed it!!! Monday came & went with no refund or contact. When I FINALLY got fed up & sent a concise & professional demand, she verbally attacked me! Because I expected to be paid? I guess it can get annoying when someone doesn't give up asking for their money as you'd hoped. Lol. Disrespectful & entitled, she believed that she was extending a "courtesy" & therefore would MAYBE refund WHENEVER! After her last nasty text, she Zelled the balance & sent a screenshot of it - 14 times back to back in her Petty Coup de Gras.
Although she had CLEARLY yanked my chain for as long as she did, I never got irate. I tried my best to extend grace as I naively believed her social media MONIKER that reads "Velma loves God". There was nothing Godly about this process or her verbal attacks.
Fellow Patrons, please do your homework on social media boutiques & services. In this case, had I checked the State Of Texas licensing I would have quickly been made aware of the multiple infractions & citations against this establishment...including operating without a license & improper sanitation & after care.
Honestly, had she just extended the courtesy of communicating some type of acknowledgment (explanation or excuse) each time she promised & failed to pay, I would have been understanding. But instead, she attacked ME for HER failure to follow thru. It wasn't even about the money at the midway point, it was the sheer principle unprofessionalism. Thus this review.
