Deep fried chicken breast dinner with onion rings and side salad
Joy S.

This place was within walking distance of where we were staying in Silver City, so we decided to give it a try. While there was nothing really wrong with the food, there also wasn't really anything that made us say, "Wow, this is great!" We got seated right away out on the patio. It was kind of loud with traffic going by, but it was pleasant with a little breeze blowing in. We ordered the appetizer sampler and deep fried chicken dinner to share. All the food came out at the same time, which wasn't ideal...Table all full of various plates of food that we were trying to eat before it got cold. The appetizer sampler...The mozzarella balls were amazing! The chips were crunchy and crisp. The spinach artichoke dip was good, although fairly standard; wings ok; cheese quesadilla was pretty bland and didn't have a lot of cheese. We would've liked some salsa for the quesadilla, but it came with one dipping sauce. The wings did have a little ranch for dipping those. The chicken breast was huge, with lots of crispy coating and was plenty for us to share. The meat itself wasn't overly tender and had very little flavor. The onion rings were crispy and very tasty. The salad was probably my favorite item. It had lots of lettuce, peppers, green onions, tomato, cucumber, cheese, and croutons. It was fresh and delicious, but could've used a little more salad dressing for our tastes. Our server was very busy, but friendly, and checked back several times during the meal. We lucked out and were there on a night where there was some patio entertainment. A banjo player was performing some lively tunes and sometimes played a harmonica and banjo at the same time! Talented guy. Overall, it was a good dining experience, just not one that knocked our socks off.

Mango margarita

I went twice while in town.. I was kinda disappointed they are usually really good.. first off the waitress was the same both times and was super slow. And we were the first ones there at 1130. And then even in the evening the following night, wasn't to busy but slow again my drink that night was watery and the chilie cheese fries were not that great:( and it took so long for the food and even longer for my kids quesadilla... The day before the pizza was really good and the mango margarita was good.. nice place, the staff is welcoming and food is hit or miss..

The lobby area was warm and inviting and the counter service was excellent. Our food (Breakfast Burrito and Raspberry/Almond Scone) was delivered soon after we found a table on the back patio (there is no indoor seating) and settled in. The burrito and scone were both very good and we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere on the patio. From beginning to end, we enjoyed the al fresco experience.

The scrambled eggs and melted pepper jack on the ciabatta rolls were good-juicy sausage, green chili and a bacon jam - but the bottom bread slices were totally soggy so I'm not sure how they'd fix that. The potatoes were cooked perfectly but not really seasoned. I went back in to grab a picture of the menu board (mostly egg dishes, salads, and oatmeal options) and ended up getting a coffeecake muffin to go for another $4 with tax, which ended up being the highlight of the meal! Super moist buttery poundcake with cinnamon swirled in and streusel on top. Epic! I also hear they have lunch items like a tray of smoked and roasted chicken that walked by our table (yum yum) and ceviche(!) I enjoyed the patio and music as well, though of course being outside you may deal with flies (I did but my partner did not). Really nice people working / walking around outside to help bring needed things like ketchup. Overall I'll go back to try some more of the baked goods (their scones looked delicious too) and that smoked chicken.

Sat out in the back patio, which was quieter. Only thing you need to know when sitting out back is that it is also the smoking section, and there were also a couple of dogs but, it wasn't too bad. They have their own distilled spirits. I had a gin and tonic and it was good. My husband and I both had the Southwest Rueben and the sandwich was different, in that they added onion and chiles. It was delicious, maybe the best Reuben I've ever had! The meat was succulent and there was plenty of cheese to hold it together. I enjoyed the Cajun fries. Perfectly seasoned and not too spicy or salty. The hubby had onion rings that were crispy and delicious. I highly recommend a visit to the Toad for lunch. I would go back and try some of the other menu items as well.

I asked about the salmon plate and she told me exactly what was listed on the menu. When I said she wasn't selling it very well, she responded "I didn't know what you expect from me?" So I decided to try another restaurant. My card has been on the counter while I thumbed this whole review and she hasn't picked it. And hasn't smiled to anyone.... Clearly having a bad day...I hope things get better for her It's a pity because it looks like s great venue.

The biscuits and gravy were excellent, which isn't easy for most kitchens to achieve. The eggs and bacon were great, too, prepared as I had ordered them. Staff were the owners, who were super friendly and the food came quickly. The interior is that of a small town diner put into what was probably a house at some point. It was clean, a little kitschy, and quiet the morning we were in. It's nice to see them making a go of it with a restaurant and being up to the task of succeeding. Great stop on our motorcycle rides out that way. Sorry, didn't take pics, but it was appetizing.
